I absolutely love her - she is without a doubt one of the greatest singers the world will ever have the pleasure of experiencing. But, in her final decade, there was a significant change in the vocals. We know she was struggling with addiction and the enormous pressures that come with being a superstar, and it's clear that those realities were impacting her stunning, inspirational voice. I agree with what you say about how life experiences (and of course growing older) bring change to the sound of a singer's voice. But that normally occurs gradually, and fans understand and often embrace the richness of expression the years bring in exchange for some limitations in sound. Aretha in her 60's didn't sound quite like she did in her 30's - but there was added wisdom, heartbreak and roads traveled in her sound, and her voice retained many of the qualities and most of the power that made her a legend. It broke my heart to literally hear Whitney's pain as she struggled so publicly. It was tragically similar to what the world witnessed during Judy Garland's final years (1964-1969). Both women were not only magnificent singers, but artists who literally shared their hearts and souls with adoring, devoted fans. Their talent was evident. But it was their ability to masterfully communicate the depth and range of emotion - from exhilarating joy to unbearable pain - that elevated them from top-notch entertainers to artistic and cultural icons. But, the blood, sweat and tears required, year after year, to achieve that performance level takes its toll. One can easily understand why someone in that position would eventually feel a desperate need to escape that harsh, relentless spotlight. Whitney is missed by so many, but her astonishing body of work will allow generation after generation to discover her, be amazed by her, and understand she was one of the most gifted vocalists that the world has seen. ************ FROM THE WHITNEY HOUSTON WIKIPEDIA PAGE: Houston struggled with vocal problems in her later years. Gary Catona, a voice coach who began working with Houston in 2005, stated: "'When I first started working with her in 2005, she had lost 99.9 percent of her voice ... She could barely speak, let alone sing. Her lifestyle choices had made her almost completely hoarse.'" After Houston's death, Catona asserted that Houston's voice reached "'about 75 to 80 percent'" of its former capacity after he had worked with her. However, during the world tour that followed the release of I Look to You, "CZcams videos surfaced, showing [Houston's] voice cracking, seemingly unable to hold the notes she was known for."
THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF OUR TIME. HANDS DOWN. SHE HITS HER NOTES IN DIFFERENT RANGES EFFORTLESSLY & FLAWLESSLY THE UNCONQUERABLE WHITNEY HOUSTON 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What I always loved from the very first time I ever heard her sing live to this day, is that she always changed the arrangement. There was no doubt she was live and not singing along to her single (like so many artists do). On some rare occasions I love the live rendition better than the recorded single. She definitely left all she had on the stage when she performed.... Yes!!! She did more than just sing, she went to a different place when she performed. She always has been and will always be my favorite. And I thank God for her. Her songs were there for me through so many occasions in my life.... RIP Whitney 🙏🙏🙏Forever grateful 💞💛💜❣️💕
Is there anything that wasn't top-notch about her voice? She literally excelled everywhere, tone, power, vibrato, resonance, diction, improvisation, tasteful embellishments, agility, unique sound not overly polished, head voice. She literally mastered all of those to perfection. And she's actually one of those old school singers who (almost) NEVER lipsynced and really had respect for their art and true love for LIVE singing.
I love that when Whitney went into a higher register on a song (sorry, my husband sings opera but I don't know the correct term) her voice actually sounded richer. more powerful and had amazing resonance. She was like watching a thoroughbred rounding the last turn and unleashing all of the power go that had been held back.
4:25-4:41, holy crap!!! 😲 She was musically, truly something out of this world. I had the privilege of seeing her in 1993 and it was like nothing I'd ever seen. Still, to this day.
I don’t think I’ve ever been able to put into words just how amazing the climax of that I Have Nothing performance is! The resonance, the volume... just the POWER behind the “don’t make me CLOSE ONE MORE DOOR, I don’t wanna hurt anymore, stay in MY ARMS”. Just ridiculous!
@Uma Kompton sure I can. I grew up back then and am quite capable of comparing them. Listen to So Hyang sing in churches like she does all the time, listen to her sing a capella. The only thing scrawny is your opinion.
The agility, stamina, charisma, and merely the voice, it all stands for the rest of generation to come. The only diva that sets the bar so high she herself became the golden standard for singing. The voice everyone! ❤️❤️❤️

One of them may have ended up on an album? "And I'm Telling You" was sung publicly on occasion and there should be full videos with better sound quality SOMEWHERE! :). czcams.com/video/zOZqgA2wvfQ/video.html

Whitney is missed by so many, but her astonishing body of work will allow generation after generation to discover her, be amazed by her, and understand she was one of the most gifted vocalists that the world has seen.
************
FROM THE WHITNEY HOUSTON WIKIPEDIA PAGE: Houston struggled with vocal problems in her later years. However, during the world tour that followed the release of I Look to You, "CZcams videos surfaced, showing [Houston's] voice cracking, seemingly unable to hold the notes she was known for."
well NO she literally did 'lose her voice' 1970's...WTH?
THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF OUR TIME. HANDS DOWN. SHE HITS HER NOTES IN DIFFERENT RANGES EFFORTLESSLY & FLAWLESSLY
THE UNCONQUERABLE WHITNEY HOUSTON 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Simply, the greatest vocalist EVER lived!
michael skinner no lara and patti and aretha is better they can support to f#5 consistently
Free Bree Don’t compare Whitney to them her voice had some much soul and power and yet not ever being to loud
Yeah loud is sometimes not the best, Whitney's voice is just the right tone and everything for me.
@@freebree7739 Is only your perception! But try to Don,t be invidios!!
Yesss. There are a few trailing behind her but the extent of soul and passion is incomparable

She's the definition of a Queen! Always gets a standing ovation!
Her voice is beyond platinum and diamond
ALL OF WHAT EVERYONE SAID🙌🙌🙌🙌MY FAV FAV And TheeEorldKniwIt ask anyone Who know me💚☘️💚☘️💚☘️RestNippy💚💕💚💕💚
She had everything! The best voice ever, and was so beautiful! We were very blessed to have her as long as we did! RIP Whitney ❤
As long as we did
4:25-4:41, holy crap!!! 😲 She was musically, truly something out of this world. I had the privilege of seeing her in 1993 and it was like nothing I'd ever seen. Still, to this day.
Sure!!
Aw I would of loved to.
In 1993 I could my first music CD Greatest hits of course Whitney was also on there.
AJ My favourite song of hers to perform live.
EXACTLY! !!!!!!!!
AJ which performance? Can you give time plsss
So Hyang I Have Nothing cover better than Whitney. There are better singer's today you just have to search.
Too bad she threw it all away because of drugs and took her kid along with her.
nowvoyagerNE we have our own demons to face. Unfortunately, her demons are bigger than her. Nonetheless, she is still the greatest and best vocalist in the world. She is and she will always be.
nowvoyagerNE What does have to do with anything? Why are you on a Whitney post if you clearly don’t care for her.
@@nowvoyagerNE ok you feel the need to mention that because ? You’re hateful
@@ninaredfern5985 : it's simple: i hate bad mothers and bad role models. and people who have nothing to add to a conversation...like you. hagd.
I think late 80s Version of Whitney Is the Most Baddass
This is only woman in the whole world when she opens her mouth and sings I get ice cold chills up and down my entire spine from the top of my head down to my feet! I love you forever Ms. Whitney Houston 😢Rest easy sweet lady. God bless your beautiful soul always.
Whitney’s belts, resonance, & sustainability honestly leave me speechless!! It’s just mind boggling watching how masterfully she can perform her craft! She truly was a once in a lifetime vocalist!
Our grandchildren's children will be listening to Whitney. There'll never be another like her. She was truly a gift to us from God.
every time i hear this woman i can’t help but cry. her voice was astounding; out of this world. a literal angel. whitney was and will forever go down as the greatest vocalist in history.
Whitney: sings
Everyone: shook
All aspects of her voice are perfect. Tone, power, agility, musicality, mid belt, upper belt, head voice, etc. this woman has it all 😍😍😍
She was, She is & will FOREVER be "THE VOICE"!!!!!!💕💔
I miss Whitney so much! She was so beautiful. So talented and just an icon. ❤
She will always be the The Queen. Nobody will ever get to that title. ❤
it is so refreshing to hear people talk of her talent which is without standards she could move you like NO ONE else
The gold voice !
Her talent is unmatched and she is truly missed! Not to mention she was absolutely gorgeous!
I still tear up whenever I see her 😢❤
I swear I think Whitney had two diaphragms or something. 😩😍
And r kelly 3
The fg to
And 4 lungs.
Right?!? I can hit higher and lower notes than she could, and my control is off the chain, however, I'm like, "how did she do that?" all the time!!!
@ambob WTH are you talking about, ego? My comment was to say that even with more range I am still NOT on her level. My comment was modest and complimentary to her, not egotistical, idiot.
She was the greatest singer in the world. She had it all. That voice could stop you in your tracks. Blessed. We miss you girl
nope mj was or freedie mercury
BigBootyAsians that’s your opinion
yoruichi shihōin nope it’s a fact both of them are way more successful singers too
BigBootyAsians No it’s not. Don’t try to downplay Whitney Houston, the most awarded female artists of all time and in a league of her own. Bye
yoruichi shihōin I’m with you b, but Mariah is actually the most awarded female singer of all time.
One of the best vocalist ever 😍
She gives me goosebumps she’s absolutely phenomenal
It’s a gift to have grown up hearing her voice. Forever in our hearts.🌹
The most power voice, entertainer of this life time. RIP WHITNEY
Amen
That's Michael Jackson. Whitney is the voice. But Michael was the entertainer of all time
Saw her sing live in Sheffield, Bodyguard tour, she was amazing
The best female voice ever!
I just can't get over her death
RIP
NoMud NoLotus ,me neither,i always keep thinking what would have happened if the drugs wouldn‘t have gotten the best of her,i miss het too and i am glad we have Glennis Grace in the Netherlands to keep the memorie of Whitney going, all the best!!!!
@@emmystarlight it is not just the drug you moron. The pressure of her stardom leading her to self-destruction or the stupid excrements like Bobby Brown messing her up. All told, she ended up like that
@11STARFIRE her life is so tragic with some glorified but short moments
Me either
I understand your statement. Sometimes it hurts me as if it just happened yesterday.
What most people don't know is she struggled with chronic laringitis, which medically it should have been impossible for her to talk nevertheless hit the notes she belted out. So, when she sang we were truly experiencing something so rare and Divine!
She didn't take proper care of her instrument. That's a shame, really.
I remember the first time she shot to fame worldwide with saving all my life for you, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. We were like WOW! She was and will always remain THE VOICE.
Whit was and will forever be a Legend.
There's never been anyone like her.
I think a piece of us all died when she did 😣😢😓
Fact!
This comment is underrated

Most beautiful woman too
Diana ross though 😍
Her voice evokes emotions and feelings we cannot explain
There is still no other like Whitney. There are those who sing closely like her. But something different or superior has not appeared yet.
Holy Cow, I'd never heard her sing "And I am telling you" before. Power and control and every note pitch perfect. How? How? How? Its not human. Who are you? Whitney didn't die she just went back to her planet.
If I recall correctly, there was some speculation of her doing the film "Dreamgirls" -- long before the Beyonce version -- so she included a couple of songs from the show in her repertoire. One of them may have ended up on an album? "And I'm Telling You" was sung publicly on occasion and there should be full videos with better sound quality SOMEWHERE! :). czcams.com/video/zOZqgA2wvfQ/video.html
You got that right. Her spirit is still uplifting millions.
Yes! Funny enough, in the 90's a Dreamgirls film was proposed and Whitney (along with Lauryn Hill) was considered the part of Deena but when approached with the role she (Whitney) wanted to sing Effie's songs too which would not work ofc lol
A legend forever. It must have been such an "out of this world" feeling for people who have seen her performing live on stage! ❤
Saw her when she only had one album out
She was a gift. Simply that . . a Gift.
MY ALLLLLLLLL TIME FAVORITE VOCALIST!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿😘
