  • The plans for Thorpe Park's brand new roller coaster are now online! With a full ride layout as well as several concept images. I fully dissect all of these images and show you some hidden details that you might have missed in the excitement! Who is the manufacturer for the ride going to be? Will it be an Intamin, Mack, S&S, RMC... only time will tell! What we do know is this will be the UK's tallest roller coaster!

    Quite cool looking back today, the fact how we thought it wasn’t going to get built back then and seeing track and supports in Old Town today. Goosebumps

    has so much potential. that drop would easily be the best in the world. but the length just ruins this rides appeal. it seems like it ends halfway through a full layout :( but at least its something lol.

  • @olibrown2182

    Looks way to short, I think Thorpe could I done a lot better. If they used more of the area behind swarm island. And then start to develop the loggers leap site with, some more flat rides as well. Or if they still use the loggers leap slight, they should be using more of the loggers route, as they have mostly taken over the most of Old Town, as their is so much more space they could of used to make a bigger coaster in my opinion. The space would of been a perfect RMC route, in regards to going around the trees, and to theme it to possible the creek freel saw mill.

  • @williambullock82
    @williambullock82 Před 2 lety +22

    wayyyyyy too short.... not pleased at all right now. Trust thorpe to have such a great opportunity to make an awesome coaster and yet again ruin it because of how short it is. The swarm is a great example of this it could have been a lot better if the ride was extended past the in-line twist.

  • @KosmikGamer
    @KosmikGamer Před 2 lety +21

    It seems to be very space constrained. It seems a waste though considering how short it will be especially considering the height with the 10+ year wait by the time it arrives, was expecting a much longer track. It feels like a gimmick tick box - new coaster, tallest in UK, done.

  • @HarryJSmith
    @HarryJSmith Před 2 lety +3

    It opened up at 10:00 am, going in only knowing they were planning the tallest. Was not disappointed!
    Also, the length doesn’t mean it can’t be a good ride. Look at Stealth and Oblivion, I always find them worth the wait.

    Share a lot of the opinions of everyone else rather disapointed about the coasters length. Looks like it would have the speed to go on for much longer which is annoying. However, from those artist images I think the overbank isn't an overbank and is instead an outerbank. If this is the case it could be a hell of an element especially with the speed it could be taking it at.

    • @ehsbe1056
      @ehsbe1056 Před 2 lety +1

      It is definitely an outer bank, you can see how it banks and twists out on the birds-eye plan, if the drop twists halfway down the drop it would basically be expedition GeForce on steroids, I’m excited about it. (Up the spurs btw)

  • @tomtomato9929
    @tomtomato9929 Před 2 lety +12

    It looks VERY short. The length is one of the things I didn't like about the swarm and this looks even shorter than that. I'm a bit disappointed tbh. I wonder if they might consider making it longer if a lot of people mention it on their 'Have Your Say' section of the website.

    I went to my first ever fright nights this year and i loved it. Platform was very good and i am quite sad i'll never ride it again however, the ended platform and not creak freak. This may be me just getting excited but could they potentially use platforms old route (sort of) for an outdoor version of creak freak..? You mentioned that the route well mainly the beginning wasn't used for the rollercoaster, and they didn't end creak freak. Either way i'm very excited for the future!

  • @kieranminihane8355

    Looking at the layout, it looks to be right-side embarking, with left-side exit, meaning that the thick path separated is exit leading into photo kiosk. From the three vertical paths connecting to the plaza, it looks like the left one is the main queue, leaving two more. The central one links with the left hand one just before climbing the stairs to the station so is probably fast-track, with the right one having no stairs (must be a ramp) indicating disabled queue. That's my interpretation at least!

  • @kieranminihane8355
    @kieranminihane8355 Před 2 lety

    5 key points after collecting my thoughts:
    1. Looks like fast-track queue (middle path connecting to the plaza) merges REALLY close to the station. Not good news for queue-equity if they keep merging fast-tracks that close to the ride, unlike something like Colossus/Saw/Nemesis where they still have to queue. Thorpe Park is terrible at selling way too many fast-tracks
    2. I was debating whether the third entrance is disabled or single-rider, and the deliberate lack of stairs where the others have them implies disabled queue. Awesome that people with disabilities get their own dedicated queue-line rather than being forced to go through the exit, looks like back-row will be for disabled
    3. Sucks there's no single-rider queue though, I imagine it could cut a lot off the main queue and they had a completely blank canvas to work with :(
    4. Long brake-run means hopefully we can get three trains running!
    5. However, I don't know if this would really speed things up. It looks like the runtime is shorter than we could expect loadtime to be, so doesn't seem to warrant having another train sitting around waiting but not sure

    Really quite disappointed. Merlin once again building the bare minimum to keep parks ticking over. I have no problem having a shorter coaster if the layout/type demands it, but Thorpe really needs that one stand-out/must ride attraction and not another B-ranked coaster, especially when doing a Hyper. We already have one of the worst hypers in the world...we really don’t need 2! If they focus more on making the best coaster possible word of mouth will not just increase attendance for a few years but keep people coming back beyond that. No coaster in the UK has had that effect successfully since Nemesis, a short ride but still arguably the best in the country, and that’s embarrassing!

    • @hacwoolls5467
      @hacwoolls5467 Před 2 lety +2

      This will be a great ride likely best at the park maybe UK. Although you cannot deny it’s short need another lap around the structure which would keep small footprint and offer more airtime moments/ inversions

    • @callumrymer3046
      @callumrymer3046 Před 2 lety

      I think it’s also important to remember that if the London Resort is built and opens at a similar time that this current mock-up of the layout is simply not impressive enough to poach visitors from further afield visiting the resort to take a trip to ride it. This is a go big or go home scenario.

      I agree everything you said there,I,m very disapointed too,I wanted A Hyper coaster too something like Shambhala or Fury 305.Nemesis is the only world class coaster here the UK,I take it you were refering to the big one blackpool as the worst hyper.

    • @callumrymer3046
      @callumrymer3046 Před 2 lety

      Absolutely! Whilst I wasn’t expecting a Fury or an Intimidator I did think a longer ride was on the cards. This just looks like a taller hybrid version of a coaster Thorpe already has (Saw and Stealth). Yeah The Big One has an above average first drop and then monorails the rest. This looks to be doing barely much more than that😬

    I think it will be 2023 as it’s not too long and some of the track is supported by the same structure so it wouldn’t take too long to build. I mean look at aireforce 1, a massive RMC hybrid opening next year and construction hasn’t begun yet

    • @Benlovescheese

    I'd rather they scrap that idea and come up with something that looks world class, even if we have to wait another 2-3 years to get to this stage again. Whoever is in charge of ride hardware/additions in this park are not up to par or aware of what's on offer in other parks outside of the UK. Ghost Train (with a hard to market VR offering), Bouncilla, I'm a Celebrity, Black Mirror, Angry Birds Land are all very lacking. I still don't get the hype that Black Mirror seemed to have got. Possibly due to everybody getting a free night out. And now we have this....Thorpe was the only option in this country to go high and long and we get this? This will be a one and done ride at the park and will not attract sustained worldwide attention that they could have had. Put a world class coaster in your park and you basically get free advertising for years to come, look at Shambahla, Taron, Zadra etc. I was hoping for a large scale hyper, out and back and an airtime machine or an RMC, again an airtime machine. The UK needs airtime, not more compact coasters with inversions where half of the train at the end are struggling to keep their stomach in. Look at rides like Shambahla, in the brake run most of the people in the train are smiling and clapping because they really enjoyed it and their body hasn't been spun and gone upside down countless times. Coaster enthusiasts know what makes a good ride, the UK public don't because they don't know any different. We need to build it and they will come. Rant over! So frustrated that this opportunity has been wasted.
