- Thorpe Park OPENED HYPERIA on the 24th of May, for one day... but this ride has been known to be a fast paced, airtime machine. Is that true? Today i discuss my honest opinion on the coaster, with its layout, smoothness, airtime moments and even the theming and landscaping.. join me as i go through my honest review of Hyperia, the UK's tallest and fastest rollercoaster.

It was great to meet you on opening day, and thank you for having a photo with my son he is a mega fan @typicalcofficial , We had 2 rides on Hyperia, both in row 2, 1 ride was very much OMG what just happened, second ride again was OMG what just happened but with a bit more clarity, I would agree with you overall, other than expanding that the trim breaks on the splash down make sense to give you the feeling as you splash down just like on tidal wave, however the water jets timing is too delayed and would be good if you had a little spray land on you to give that feeling of just going into water, I would probably back off the trim break a little, this ride is just incredible and is both our UK number 1 Coaster, with no doubt, for us followed by Nemesis Reborn and then the Smiler. Hyperia is plain and simply just Epic, we are soo lucky to have this ride in the uk and within an hour from where we live.

Great review!! 🙂 You're right about the surrounding area looking like a cesspit, but honestly I was having so much fun I barely even noticed 🤣 it's a cracking coaster! I think with time they'll give the scenery a bit of TLC, and it'll look much better.

Was due to ride it today but moved our dates back to end of June with the hope of it being fully operational by then. Can't wait! I want to feel like I'm flyinnnnggggg!

Our family waited an eye watering 6.5h on opening day to ride. In my honest opinion the chain lift is very noisy and it needs more theming in the line. The ride itself was amazing. The seating was very comfortable and the airtime was one of the best I’ve experienced. I can’t wait to ride again. Best part of opening day was meeting you though!

Me and my friend literally went a week before I opened and we suddenly bummed we couldn't go on there obviously I've not experienced hyperia myself but I would probably agree with you I hope we get to go on there some day also love your videos ❤
I think they should have left the opening longer. As much as everyone wanted to ride as soon as possible they should've left more time for more interesting theming and a better station building. The landscaping doesn't bother me that much but the lack of theming does

I'm lucky enough to have ridden el toro, which many people say has the best drop in the world at the moment. I can't wait to get a ride on this and see if it's better at fright night.

I was expecting the ride to be faster and more intense track to be added. Its a 6/10 for this one
Alton towers you get a a lot of theming in and around the area before you go on the ride.

My problem with the new coasters in the UK is they do not dream big any more, they're all just baby versions of what other countries have. I miss the days of Nemesis, Oblivion and Air pushing things forward... Even The Smiler was a coaster people came from over the world to ride.
I mean icon was groundbreaking for the country but not for the world, ever since we've not had anything special until now
Agree that the theming is a huge letdown, especially when it’s in the same park as rides like Swarm and Saw. It feels unfinished.
That's because it is unfinished...
You say that but Swarm and Saw are literally the only 2 rides with good theming, Thorpe park has the worst theming of any Merlin park, there rides have a little the park as a whole basically doesn't
After riding it on opening day, i still can't comprehend what a ride it is, it's unbelievable and imo of the rides I've done it's worlds best

I went to Thorpe on Monday and was so hyped for hyperia, but the day before we got the news about it breaking 💀💀💀😭😭😭
I visited today and it looked insane. Now I can say that I haven't ridden the two largest coasters I have seen in person.

Oh I just realised! Well, I kind of saw it before but a light bulb moment when you said - look at that first drop. It isn't just a big Sky Rocket II drop people... it's MORE THAN VERTICAL, at the same time as twisting 180 degrees. Oh John Burton (not Wardley - maybe Merlin in UK have a pre-requisite for designing their rides - you must be called John!) - but yeah you knocked it out the park.
Of COURSE you're out of the seat the entire drop, it's just physics. He really thought about maximising this airtime eh. Hats off.

i flew to the uk to ride hyperia last saturday and got the news about the closing time one day after ive arrived…
i haven't been on hyperia yet but cant wait to rid it at some point
I think they should call the outer bank the Rick Roll, and the dive loop the Loggers Loop.
Icon has those horrible restraints that get tighter throughout the ride until you are being crushed by the end.

Great ride. From the back that first drop is super intense. The outerbank turn is weird because with the inversion it feels like its turning left but we know it's actually a right handed turn.
The splashdown you cant see any water when on the ride - they need it to splash earlier (and get you wet).
The music in the queue line is too loud (I may just be old). A 2 hour queue with that music and base blaring away is just too much. Turn it down please Thorpe Park.
These are all mostly about the entry and not the ride which I love
That 9,001-mile-long switchback queue is giving me Rita flashbacks.
