I think you have to see it how the roof is build. Hat off for you guys. Hat off. Thanks for another marvelous video.
Lol, the awkward look on Fox's face "Hey Everybody" looks like he was not expecting that suddenly. Every job site has that one guy who is a complete beast when it comes to knocking out things... I swear Fox is that guy every time!
Love to see you post!👍
Good Lord. Love the intro! But scared the crap out of me because I thought my laptop had frozen *AGAIN* lol
HAHAHA
Same here!! I have an IPhone 7 Plus, I was convinced I needed a new phone!
MattBangsWood I appreciate the intro! It’s nice to change it up!
LMAO same I was like WTF!
Absolutely loving this series big shoutout from over here in London 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Love watching Greg. That guy is a total boss. Climbing a ladder, smoking and carrying massive timber
When I sheet bigger valleys I snap a 4ft line up from the bottom parallel to the ridge. Tack a few 8s on the rafters on your chalk line. Throw a sheet above the 8s and slide the sheet till the bottom corner just touchs your valley line. Tack it down. Keep throwing sheets 1 above the other sliding each bottom corner to the valley line till you get above the ridge ,tacking each sheet. Once your above the ridge hook your chalk line on the top corner. Pull all the way down ranging your chalk line over the top corner of all your sheets all the way to the bottom of your first sheet. Snap that line and you have a absolute parallel valley line on your sheets. Cut that line. Untack your sheets and slide them 1 at a time to your valley. Makes a razor straight valley
Hola!!! Matt.👋
Exellent video... and all episodes building 👷♂️ The Ridge.
🎊 to all of you.👏👏👏👏👏
You guys, make it happen. Wonderful and interesting experience. 👍👍👍🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
For all of you. I am impressed.
Than you, for sharing that experience.
Just going to go ahead and like the vid before watching again. SUPPORT!
11:00 good man Fox. Teamwork makes the dream work!
For a second there I thought my chromebook had frozen... haha love the video editing! Has definitely come a long way.
Love these videos matt
Need more Fox. Always makes me smile. 👍🏻
Expensive proposal.. depending on how much went up in flames.
The build is looking more and more awesome.
Must be very satisfying working on a project like that . Making it work what a good result.
An excellent job on the trick ridge 👏
6. like man. Bang on.
Hope we can get to see this place once it's all finished inside and out that would be awesome.
Ya'll's fires were no joke this year! I spent most of Sept 4 km from the Dolan Fire; 100,000 acres of burn.
Great tips! Thanks for the great channel!
As always Brother awesome work. 👏👏👏👏
Matt, I love your channel. Is there any chance that you could go back and take some video of the completely finished home. Same goes for the winery project that you did a while back. I've said it before, you have the best framing channel on CZcams. Thanks for the videos and for promoting the trades.
For sure I would love to see the winery all done
Look at an ash tray.
@@michaelvangundy226 LOL
@@michaelvangundy226 oh damn never even thought of that... Job security is a good thing tho
Ok
It is grippy but I’m sure you have noticed that wet zip tape is beyond slippery
Another great video.....B A N G ON,!!
One day Fox will have his own channel. And it will be great!
I’ve encouraged him to. He doesn’t like being in front of the camera though. 🤷♂️ Honestly though, my favorite person to work with!
We leave 1 inch short on top plywood sheathing on roof for roof vents
love ur vids matt
What's the thought process (if any) on which direction the bolts are facing when attaching those big beams? Do the plans specify one? It looks like most were facing outward from the house. There's definitely a different look, depending on the side (bolt head vs. bolt threads and a nut).
Hey Matt give Fox a coil framer and watch him take off!!! House is looking great.
Getting those beams up is real hernia territory ...
Can I get a sweat shirt like that? Is it custom or did you buy it from some where?
3:10 ya love to see it! Another framer jumping on the zip ship!
@10:56 f-0-X really reads jobsite well, i'll bring him beer one day x)
6:07 especially since youre only running 3 rows its no big deal. If there was a huge roof with say 6 rows I would recommend either getting that 4 foot stagger (looks nice and clean) or stagger at least 2 away
you look at old houses (turn of the 1900's and before), they had simple upon and down roofs, high pitch to drain water/snow. Then the architects came along, took your basic triangle and turned into some low profile polygon. A much harder job to frame, nightmare to seal and difficult to insulate. Look fantastic from a drone fly over however.
Matt, how's the lumber prices including the zipsystem over there these days? South East it's little over doubled.
🤘
Hey Matt..have you ever use a Ramset gun that shoots nails..nails.. through steel..if so maybe you can show it..i cant find any video about it..
Good grief - the number of pitch changes and angular meets on that roof system!!! A nightmare for me... and I don't have to make it!
What is the percentage of roof sheathing waste Matt ?
Great stuff bro, only 23 n you know your shit ,G ,
Is Fox missing some finger tips? 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
One, from an automotive accident.
MattBangsWood 👍🏻
How many people are working building that house
I’m in a construction cluster right now and we move through three courses masonry, plumbing and hvac, and building trades then choose which one we like and do that for 2 years. I’m currently in masonry and we are making brick walls and I came in on Thursday to work on it and a pm kid which means they chose to take the class knocked it over and didn’t rebuild it
How come u dnt rebuild it
olderyoung youngolder it was a respect thing so he wanted them to rebuild it plus he wouldn’t let me
No wonder that there's so many house fires. Brush is left right up to an exposed wooden deck! What happened to the 150 foot set back laws?
Do you prefer blue or red chalk lines?
With the red ZIP, blue stands out.. I didn't switch the entire build though, I could still see red, which I prefer.
As of 10/2/2020 4,142,656 acres of Cali has burned. Stay safe out there MBW!
If only we had raked and swept lol 😂😂😂
Why not stagger joints on 2x6 tongue and grove??
Matt are you going to tape your ZIP seams where the sheets butt as recommended by the manufacture, I know this is a big pain in the butt from my understanding that is the only way they will cover the warranty
He said he will, but has to wait for nailing inspection.
At last Intro ;)
Is it California code that doesn't require h clips on roof deck?
1/2” sheathing needs it. 5/8” doesn’t.
what is the arquitects - designer aproach on that offset angle sharp void overhead separate roof valley then uniting creating that swirl type ridge peak centerabove 2 part structure roof top not sure in this order necesarily but covering all point of such design, im sure its indoors accesible but why create such a void. (im sure is simple explain but also way bigger than it looks on site than video) its like an airport tower and landings all over the place sometimes things explain themselves like why Houston nasa and launch cape canaberal florida weird setup structure
Whats up with no-hardhat Rambo 🤪
Dudes a savage.
MATT, if you ever get rid of Fox I’m unsubscribing.he never fails to make me smile.
If only I could actually include the conversations we have, lol....
Who's that tough guy with the cig in his mouth holding the beam.
Thats 'grumble & mumble'.
Greg. He’s one of the raddest carpenters I’ve ever worked with, lol.
@@MattBangsWood he's like a human crane hauling that beam up, built for it though that that physique.
Hey bro can you please make a vid about the basics of carpentry like build a house and point out the things your doing and stuff and I’m 15 and what kind of maths should I learn at school for carpentry and where do I go to learn these things but pls make a vid about it
Hey Matt, have you got an email I can contact you on? Cheers.
4:38 that's what she said. Lol
Must be you don't vent roofs in California?
Great video. Thanks to poor forest management California is always on fire
looks kinda crazy without 1/8" gaps for expansion on the roof.
The roofers are really going to be cussing that house/architect. You make it look easy but but those are complicated cuts.
What happened to your apprentice Quinn?
What happened to jay
The way y’all walk on the saw dust you can’t do that on a step roof
Sup?
How come u never show ur workers to drive the forklift . I always train my ppl how to drive the forklift
The way we operate is fairly simple, all of our leads drive the lift. With 20 guys, I could see training more than 1. With 4 of us, it's never an issue.
Proof that most homeowners have more dollars than sense..... this home is a cut-up mess.....you and your crew are doing an awesome job though. I work and argue with architects all the time....the only good ones are the ones that spent a little time wearing bags.
Tricky roof section? That was a screw up from the architect.
