Where the hell is the plywood on that house 🤦🤦.
You're tellin' me. Lol. These guys were going to side it without..
BRAVO!!!
OOOH! Dagen McDowell. She's a feisty one. Congrats on the interview.
Thank God you are there to right the wrongs👍
I'll 2nd that. Matt isn't an ordinary framer. 😎✌️
Matt thank you! Your the man love the lessons!
Always be a need for infrastructure...lil spooky for office people with AI Lack of younger kids going into trades over last 20 plus years, just makes those who are more valueable
I have a background in custom wood furniture making and I have started doing a little framing with a small crew. For me the loose tolerances mess with my head even though it works. For example the quick way of cutting a block loses the width of the kerf of the saw blade and there's an ⅛ of wiggle room with the other blocking. Is this just to compensate for variations in stud thickness?
You were calm.... I would have done a " How high" moment! "First cops, then catch a predator... now this!?!?" " holy crap! I'm on a hot streak"
thank u matt thats very good video.. keep it up brother
Dumb question here. Say you're framing an 8 foot section. Then your studs will be at 16, 32, 48, 64, 80 and 96 OC. Since that last stud is at 96 OC if you put it on center it would extend 3/4" past the top and bottom plates. In that case do you shift the stud back 3/4" so that it stays flush within the top and bottom plates?
Correct. You’d just put it at end of wall. Your last stud is unlikely to ever land on a 16” layout. That’s OK.
@MattBangsWood thanks Matt. Then when you start the next section, I guess you would "get back on track" meaning it would still land at 96 + 16= 112" OC even though that will make the inside to inside distance 15.25" instead of the normal 14.5"?
Kids nowadays aren’t cut out to be construction workers/tradesman. Thats why everybody is trying to make AI everything because this generation of kids would rather program a computer to have a robot do the work for them instead of just being skilled tradesman and working with your hands. Hopefully one of these days, the shortage of young people in the trades will benefit my generation of tradesman as their is less and less of us all the time so hopefully we’ll be more and more in demand.
Thats my hope too. We are in dire need of better compensation
I’ve never framed anything before and with Matt’s videos I’m currently framing a 62x31 shop and it’s turning out great!
Way tooooo gooo Matt your the Mang ! Great way to represent !
Love my dewalt cordless framing gun. Had lots of issues with pneumatic down in GA related to the humidity, only issue with the dewalt was when my pops thought it needed to be oiled 😅 but really needed some brake cleaner after he spilled a beer on it and it gummed up the ram!
On the window you finished at 16:00, did you end up putting a complete trimmer on the right under the sill? Also, do you split the trimmers/ sandwich the sill to try to prevent the sill from twisting, or is there another reason you don’t run your trimmers solid from bottom plate to header?
How much did Mike pay you to wear that shirt?
Hahahahaha
Not enough…
👏👏👏👏👏
The skill with that router though
Awesome man! Good for Fox to give you a shout out!
Man, lot to be proud of. Stay gold brother
Big time TV. Congratulations Matt The trades require skill and knowledge. Many so called professionals with multiple degrees do nothing but push paper. Many of those degrees only show someone's check cleared
Is that the new dewalt framing nailer or older one? Cause mine won't do that. Thanks
Hired meth heads and let them use phones at work huh..? You get what you get
Faux "news"??? 🤮
Don’t think about the network, I’ll go on anything if it means I get to share my thoughts. 😁
Danggg getting on the big TV now 🤙 sick dude congrats
❤
Congrats Matt, this a great accomplishment
It is telling that she stills needs to make a distinction between craftsman and blue collar. The way she says it makes it clear that she sees blue collar as socially less respectable. Newsflash idiots: no one wants to be seen as socially lesser. You can explain how necessary those jobs are until you are blue in the face, but without an actual attitude adjustment there won't be much movement.
This looks like a shit ton of fun. That’s coming from an operator that currently hates his job and is thinking about switching to carpentry!
I love windows like that though 😢
Thanks for the video full of I formation.
We do three kinds of work: Fast, Cheap, and Good; you get to choose which two you want.
12:00, that corner built in bookshelf is holding the entire place up! 😅
Nice I really enjoy these type of YT shorts you make!
Matt this I happening constantly on new builds I have done each trade and I can’t figure out what is going wrong, no matter what trade I go into we are expected to fix the problem. I hope to go into the next stage with a solution that means a very profitable end for all of us
We had duo fast, loved them, thanks
Back in the day , it wasn't pine most of the time
I really hope you’re doing okay Matt.
Log cabined themselves into this predicament of having terrible window framing skills 😂 😂 Hopefully I heard correctly, cause that’s art! And pure comedy.
You know that saying, "You'll put your eye out!" Well, "You'll cut your foot off!"
Thanks for the tip ,I'm a beginner and I have a few projects I'm working on.
I have seen videos of that James Hardie board completely de-laminating and falling apart in less than 10 years.
Busted the glass over their work area
Well the middle stud is still touching both, so there will be sound transfer
Wouldn't it help if working solo you have a miter saw with stands?
I have one! Not a fan of miter saws for framing.
Very good info! Thanks.
