    I'm glad you are getting back into dt. I too am starting to get more into photography after the pandemic damped everything.
    After watching your video, I was playing around with the options. I usually only use the rule of third, but will now try others.
    One thing you can mention is the FLIP option that appears only in certain grid lines. For example, in the spiral, the center you showed was in the top right, but one can flip that vertically or horizontally depending on the image.

    How do you make a custom crop ratio in Darktable? Say something like 17:7? The old "crop and rotate module" allowed for this, but it is gone now.

      Hey sorry it took me a while to reply! I've just had a look and it seems you'll have to do the math. So like 1700x700 pixels, or 850x350 pixels etc. This can be achieved using the freehand.

      I was looking for the same answer and it turns out to be very easy. Just click on aspect to open the dropdown and type in your ratio (so for example just 17:7)
