IDK how I came across your vid, but anything with gas & an engine that can be driven, riddin' or worked on I'm interested. Cool vid & knowledge. Two Thumbs up sir & I'm subbing you. Be cautious everyone, to much shaft play can be bad, lol.

    Going single carb and exhaust are some of best mods for ridability. Keeping the stock carbs in sync is really hard and can cause an engine to melt down very quick. Single exhaust gives you way more bottom end and more control over the power band at slower technical riding. Welding and balancing the chank also smooths out much of the harsh vibration. Getting rid of the stock water impeller in favor of a billet aluminum can keep from serious overheating issues.

    • @StupidFastJohn
      @StupidFastJohn  Před 4 lety

      I personally will never go single. You loose so much power from it by decreasing the airflow substancially. Carb syncing is made very easily with a synchrometer and 15 mins time with south texas banshees vid and a beer lol.
      Everyone has their own idea as to what is the best, i just wanted to show everyone zome cheap easy solutions for stuff instead of tearing the engine apart yah know. 👊

      Actully it gets better. I was a national ranked GNCC racer. My '93 banshee was set up almost identical to pro racer Kim Kunhle's. I had a near stock '91 that was 30 over and the '93 wzs stock bore and would kick the shit out of the '91. Jimmy at Moto-fast really knew how to get the most out of banshees. Yamaha could have done so much more with them but dropped the ball.

  • @Jay-gs5xg
    @Jay-gs5xg Před 5 lety +1

    People with mild mods could just get a 4 degree advance timing key for a lot less money than the timing advance plate. I would only do this if you are on a tight budget and can’t afford the plate. I have heard people say they can sheer off, but I have never personally seen it happen. I ran one on a heavily built banshee when I was a kid and it never had a problem during the couple of years it was on the motor.

    • @StupidFastJohn
      @StupidFastJohn  Před 5 lety

      Or you could go one step cheaper and open up the stock holes on the stock timing plate. My preference is the plate though. It has alot more adjustability for higher performance mods in the future or if you want to switch to race gas and smaller domes as well and just turn it up. But yes there are many different ways to achieve the same goal. I actually did hear about shearing those but have no experience with them yah know.
      Thanks for the comment man im all about an exchange of information!

      @StupidFastJohn  Před 5 lety

      I ran 19cc on my stock piston/bore/stroke shee for years buttttt i think i was able to do that because of the motor being worn and lower compression due to worn piston-bore clearance. You could run more compression but depending on elevation is what really plays into it. If you do a compression test and your above 165 you need race fuel 👊🤙

    Sweet. I’m an above right knee amputee so I’m trying to find out, how I can convert a kick start banshee into an electric start? I can’t kick start anymore😞. Also. How could I tie my rear break into my hand break? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @StupidFastJohn
      @StupidFastJohn  Před 5 lety +1

      Nrfa the rear brake should be fairly simple just get a right handed front brake master cylinder for your handlebars. I know they make these for the stunt guys supermotos etc so they dont need there feet for the brake but how are you going to manage the clutch?? Honestly the front brake is what takes the jolt of the energy to slow down.
      As for electric start i have seen it done you just have to find a motor that works and wire it up to a switch in place of the kicker. Have you tried a quick google search? Something may pop up.
      Hope some of this is helpful for you!

    • @nrfa6229
      @nrfa6229 Před 5 lety +1

      Stupid Fast I’m an above right knee amputee so I can shift with the clutch. Since I’d only use it to ride, instead of drag racing in the dunes... I could just pump the front breaks, while at the same time down shifting. I’ve dont it in the past with my raptor.
      As for a motor with electric start. Wouldn’t I lose the awesome sound that, the banshee makes from the moment it starts, to riding, to just throttling? I don’t want to sacrifice that. Thank you so much for the reply, and ideas🤙🏼✌🏼.

    • @StupidFastJohn
      @StupidFastJohn  Před 5 lety +1

      @@nrfa6229 by the rear brake upgrade what i mean is if you would add a lever to the handlebars for your rear brake setup you would have to remove the clutch handle. Unless possibly having some sort of double handle that you could do either? Sorta like the parking brake?? Idk just some ideas.
      For the motor what i mean is grab an electric motor that will fit into the hole of the kick area and make the gears align then just run your power wiring and switch etc. I dont think you should replace the engine itself just remove kicker and find an alternative motor to fit in the kickstarters place yah know? I cant remember if the old rz350's or rd350's may have had an electric start at one point. Im absolutely sure if you hop on facebook onto the banshee forums and ask somebody can answer that fairly quickly!
      Hope this helps!

    • @StupidFastJohn
      @StupidFastJohn  Před 5 lety +1

      Me 2 the whole point is easier shifting, if you cant pull all the way up on the shifter then you shouldnt be riding. It can already be fairly hard to get these old transmissions into neutral, this makes it easier so im not sure what your point is? If you dont like the mod thats fine thats your opinion but no need to bash others over it.

      Me 2 also if those tips are ground down for the neutral area, that does not make it easier for getting into neutral lmao, if amything its harder to land the pin in the middle of its crevice for neutral because the tipsnof each side are what help that stop on position. If theyre ground down on each side itll pass over easier.
