    Unfortunately the disk sander I use in this video is discontinued. However, Harbor Freight does offer a nicer belt sander that will do the job just as easy; it is more expensive, but it is a good tool to have should you make the purchase and with their 20% off coupon, it will still be affordable around $40. Finally, someone that knows what they are doing. instant Sub without second thinking it. my dirt bike (Chinese) is not shifting into 2 and 4 its like skipping them. I want to know if its the detent arm or the clutch. I'm not too familiar with small engines but ill give it a go. I want to crack the engine open and see what I find but since its all mechanical I'm afraid that ill open it and things falling out or moving in there and not catching how it goes back together. When I open it up I will also take this shift mod and perform it on my dirt bike because its hard finding neural and my gears aren't as smooth.

    Great video as usual Mike. Two safety related cautions:
    1. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION when using power tools, especially sanders and grinders.
    2. To avoid injury from flying parts, only sand the part using the down spinning side of the disk, never the up spinning side. Turn the part over instead of moving it to the up spinning side of the disk.

      What's up Leo! I can always count on you to keep me in check! You'll be happy to know that I had my glasses on. The reason I didn't flip the star was because of the posts that stick out; I felt more comfortable working with it on the flat side. See you soon Leo!

    Hey Mike, thanks for another great video.
    I've never felt that shifting was a problem though. But as you said at the beginning of your video, finding neutral sucks! Now that you've had time to ride since the mod, is it any easier to get into neutral ? Since nothing is done to the neutral detent, can't think of why it would be.
    I've been thinking of doing this mod for years and now I have the clutch side cover off to rebuild the water pump. While I'm at it, gonna replace the clutch since I'm in there and... Well you know how this affliction goes 😁

    now im in the middle of building my banshee using this as a reference, (great video). so im wondering with that shift star being modded is there a chance that the detent can get stuck and isnt shifting to the slots everytime? im just worried about going to the next step with this happening like it would be "stuck in gear" type thing. kind of like in your video at 14:03! Thanks in advance!

    That detent is oem banshee drilled out bearing and bolt i tossed mine cause of the bolt over time it might break might not has to be high tensile and locktighted hopefully
    Also the shift shaft mod is a mod of elongated slot on the spring end of the shaft that lets the shaft go just a bit further to allow for worn parts to still shift easy. Fast dose it for free when you buy their shift shaft.you can do it yourself easier than the star mod

My old two stroke sometimes when it had allot of strain in first gear would just kick into neutral sometimes second is that possible with this? • @richardkey4289
      @richardkey4289 Před 5 lety +2

      John Smith what you are describing could be a slightly bent shift fork; during a crash the shifter could have been whacked, which can put force on one or all 3 shift forks. there could be no problems , some trouble, or a bike is jammed in one gear.you have to split your engine cases apart to get to them. Some MX bikes get get grumpier to shift , or find neutral, if the transmission oil is really old. The clutch will be grabby- er , possibly slip, if the trans. oil is worn, too.

    • @ThaSideWeed
