- Restoration of a large Stihl 051, this model was widely used in cutting down large trees, and still is. It's not easy to find them in good condition as well as parts these days. I was very happy to give new life to this machine that stands out for its power and robustness.

I gotta say, you didn't cherry pick this resto-.
I was impressed with what that last dude could do with rivets and tape! 😮
That has got to be the most unique and amazing rebuilding/repair/refurbishing effort I've ever seen on anything. I hope it stays with you for many years to come. Things are only thrown away when you just don't want to put in the efforts to make them work again... Bravo sir, Bravo!
Exactly friend!
Thank you very much for the comment!
😅
I don’t know what I’m more impressed with the rebuild or the fact he knew how to put 1000 pieces back together. I’d love to have this as a show piece. For sale?!?!
Well actually for most products like this, especially contractor grade tools, plans and blueprints are available, often included with the tool, or even more likely - online.
We only see a part of the video in an edited format.
They have HOURS of video at their disposal to go back and review if they can't remember how it came apart in the first place.
The Stihl 051 is a beast of a saw and will wear out the strongest of men! Well done!!
I remember when I visited my grandmother in Pensacola, Florida and she dropped some serious wisdom on me. She said “Grandson, one day some people will waste their time reading your comment.” Today is that day.
Woah haha ao funny😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤😝😝😝😝🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪☺️☺️☺️🫡🫡🫡😝🫡
...and it gets worse, one day someone will even read a reply to a comment😉
òpòpp
😅😅😅 yur smart people....
🤣
Any piece of equipment with that many repairs tells you at least two things. Someone loved it and it is one heck of well built machinery. Today's crap for the most part can't handle one tumble from the tailgate of a pickup truck.
Man, you can tell how much that saw was loved. It reminds me of my Dad's old Farm Boss, taped up & rigged and still fires up & cuts like no ones business. This restoration was amazing, doesn't even look like the same saw. Great job
I was able to do this at 14 ,but that was 35 years ago on the German solo chainsaws ,my dad was my teacher ,this is wonderful to watch, a true craft
That's not a restoration --- that's a resurrection!
🤣🤣🤣
Lol I was thinking the same thing..😂
Impressed by the DIY repairs made to this chainsaw. Reminded me of my Dad who would have done the same.
I'm impressed for many reasons. First, that was one of the most well-used chainsaws I have ever seen and with the most improvised repairs I have ever seen. Then the masterful repair process was simply amazing. I truly expected the replacement of most of the external components, including the muffler. I was very impressed and will save this to review when working on my own Stihls. Very well done.
That improvised lathe was badass.
I still (Stihl ) have a running 051AV ,you have inspired me to clean it up a bit
Cheers from Aus
Absolutely incredible rebuild!
I mess around with doing deep cleans on saws but nothing like this. Just awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Mr. Gamb so nice to see when you fix the old chain saws you don't mind getting new parts like bars and chains it's refreshing to see. Great job it looks new. 1st crank two thumbs up and picked a nice piece of wood to cut instead of junk.
I hope to one day restore my Stihl 025 saw. Just a couple months older than me and it was the last thing i got from my grandpa while i was in middle school before he died. Still runs great but would love to restore it someday
I am very impressed with this rebuild. I watch many people on CZcams fix broken items But this is by far the best I have ever seen. Wish I knew how to do work like this. Down below there is a man that stated he knew how to do this work since he was 14 years old. Thats great that his father taught him. . The guy below this one stated he was impressed that he knew how to put back 1000 pieces. To Me this was nothing for the man in this video. Just a cake walk. Great Job Brother.
Used to have a 050 AV but it suffered same kind of condition ending to be under too many heavy trees, but it was pleasure to use as it cut like a butter with such a power! This was in 80's!
Good on the previous owner for keeping it going, his pop rivets added to the authenticity!
The superglue and sodium bicarbonate was awesome, I will try this on my plastic parts. Thank you for this video. Jim
Tolles Video👍
Gratulálok tökéletes lett a felújítás.
That was a wonderful restoration. I don’t think it could have been any better. Thank you for a great video.👍🏼
TIG welding welcomes you))))
And don't spare the oil when assembling)))
Cool restoration))
Man every piece of that thing is rooted!!!
She’s done some hard work 💪💪
Nice brazing skills. Its almost a lost art and reminds me of my long departed foreman George Morris who used an old Stihl and could braze really well. That was an excellant restoration.
That's not brazing, he's soldering, nowhere near as strong as brazing
WOW! That's quite the transformation! From junk to classic beauty! I'm impressed!
Thanks for the comment friend!
Absolutely enjoyed your expertise on this project. I rebuild old snowblowers and appreciate your approach 👍
Well done,I liked the repair using bicarb & super glue,I will keep that one in mind, nice restoration!!
bicarb?
This is real restoration, not only change to a new parts..
Your chainsaw skills are impeccable, that was a great slab.. your restoration skills are genius great content .
That saw has had a hard life and now it’s probably stronger than when it was new 👍
not really

Bullshit.

I’ve never used rivets but that guy had it down. Great job 👍
This is a great thing to teach kids.they love it!
I grew up my Dad's small engine repair shop and you Sir were born with a gift that most don't possess these day...Patience!👍👍
I can not imagine the time you have in this beautiful restoration. Thanks for sharing!
39 mins 25 secs
Nice work. That poor girl been thru alot.
One of the best restoration videos on youtube!I have the same chainsaw
You sold me hands down!!!!
Unbelievable man!!!
🙏🇺🇸
Die Säge hätte ich so gelassen. Da steckt sehr viel Geschichte drin.
An 051 that's a big boy, a lot of power.
In one word, "You are amazing". Comparing the before and after version of the chainsaw, the result is incredible. I congratulate you. I have great respect for masters like you. I love these types of restoration videos..
Three words!😉
The chainsaw before the renovation looks fantastic as a zombie weapon. Literally as if taken from a movie set. I would just repair it and leave it as it is.
You made it beautiful! One of the best restoration videos I've seen 👍
Great 💪💪💪💪💪
Excellent work, marine! 👍
Nothing bad with this just can you put the right tension on the chain
God, I like watching videos like that!! I repair stuff so it operates (kinda like using the pop rivet phase) but your efforts far exceed mine! But I still try before I throw it away or trying to make repairs on top of repairs...
Brasil!
wow a stihl with an outside-clutch
impressive sound
really nice work done here.
Bravo.. Amazing... I have Stihl 076AV...42 years old.. Monster.. I hope soon I start restore it.God job bro👌👌🇷🇸
This video was fun and interesting to watch. I enjoy doing the same things but getting to old to use hands. Very nice finished product young man. Very nice.
Parabéns pelo excelente trabalho de restauração
Excellent work.
This video was riveting. Job well done
Like this video..im speechless
Beautiful work! I think you should upgrade the bar to a sprocket nose, but the plain one is a perfect restoration. Thanks for sharing your superb craftsmanship!
Absolutely perfect, great job
Sudah tidak di ragukan lagi. Mesin stihl kalau masih ada parts nya pasti mantapp...
Beautiful they don't make them like that any longer
Nice work! Impressive how that chainsaw is STIHL here!
I have an old Stihl that my grandfather owned it is truly one of my life treasures ! I am dying to restore it . Its probably from the late 70’s early 80’s . I grew up with him in the woods , he was a tree guy / land clearer. My memories with him are wrapped around these saws !
so much work put in! this is simply brilliant! Bravo!
Right on man!!
Thank you for using a new bar and chain!!
I’ve watched a few saw revivals where they paint the poor old bar and throw the rusty chain back on,,,
good work! Saw is ready for the next trip out to the woods!
Thank you very much!
Hello from Texas .. I agree with the other Gary ... absolutely meticulous/pro work...the quality of work I've been trying to acheive several types of mechanical devices ...for many decades
👍🤝🙏
Really amazing. Absolutely great work.
Ficou lindo❤
Absolutely amazing! Awesome job!
So beautifull so elegant just looking like a 😮
Tỉmỉ từng li từng tí thành một cái máy mới rất hay 😮😅
Well done . That machine was in a bad state . But the older Stihl machines had a solid heart to work from
Respect ! Great restoration. I've done such restorations app. to 15-20 Stihl-saws for my collection. Very old and in a really bad shape. So it's very interesting to see someone who is working so precisely with such a great result.
Greetings and best regards !
Great job. There are 3 near my house for cheap, 2 nice looking runners and one parts saw. I didn't buy them, as I have too many saws already. But, the old logging mountain towns, they still turn up, as they are a bit heavy compared to the newer saws. Yours was beat to begin with. Unless it was my saw to begin with, and I wanted it for nostalgia, I would have left it beat, as i thought it looked so cool that way! Anyway, great job, and I learned a lot!
Excellent restoration you did a fantastic job keep up the good work
Really fun restore! Thanks for making and sharing!
Great job.
Thanks for showing many ways of repairing things.
Great job!
Thank you for posting this video.
I really like seeing engine repairs like this 😁🙏🏻

Exelente cirujano con estetica🎉🎉🎉

Awesome transformation.
Hello .
Congratulations on your great work! Technically, this is very impressive and very interesting. Continuing to restore the chainsaw.....
Hello!
thank you friend!
Awesome job.
Excellent restoration work. I think that everything that can be repaired, must be repaired and not thrown away, as almost everyone does, by buying new things.
Greetings from Italy.
👍👍👍
I fully agree with you!
Thank you very much friend!
@@MrGamb you did a beautiful job on rebuilding this saw! Is it still possible to get parts from stihl? For a saw like this?
Amazing work ❤
