God: its ok
😎👍
Man, that's dope....
genial!
Love it
Primo!
Simply the greatest and most creative band of all time.
FOR SURE 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Agree🫡👌🏻
When Pink Floyd recorded this, in the Pompei amphitheater there was nobody but the band, the production and a group of children who have sneaked in curious to discover the source of the strange sounds they heard, they passed all the day in the amphitheater listening to this guys and play, in some recordings you can hear their voices. 20-30 years later the director of the documentary returned to Naples and while he was walking around like a normal tourist, he was stopped by a man: he was one of those children. They became friends and now organize things like photographic exhibitions, tributes etc. to Pink Floyd.
Fun fact: Lucio Dalla - a famous italian singer - when discovered that Pink Floyd would play in Pompeii, he did everything to be able to attend, he wanted at all costs to listen to Echoes live. So he call one of his friends and got a fake job as electrician who had to check the cable that carried energy to the amphitheater.
Only Pink Floyd could play to an empty amphitheatre filled only with ghosts. Now you have to do part two
It was not empty, there were 12 children (there is their voices in some recordings) and some workers (one of those was Lucio Dalla, a famous italian singer, who pretended to be an electrician in order to listen to Echoes live).
@@nicoladc89 hai ragione .
The first time I heard this, I didn't wait for this song to finish, I went out to get my own copy. 💯🤘🎶
I greatly prefer this live version compared to the studio version. The studio version sounds more polite while in this version Nick Mason's drums and David Gilmour's guitar sound much more alive and vibrant.
Same but i like the studio version because the second part in the album is much better than the Pompeii version
I agree, this version is so much more hard core. I feel the album version sounds more muted. This one is so badas* mesmerizing every single time
Согласен Помпейская версия лучше. Она ярче, живее, богаче. Ребята выложились по полной. Довели композицию до совершенства. И даже после не играли её лучше.
@@audreyplunkett6111 I like both, I think one thing the studio version definitely has, is it's audio quality, this version sounds a little iffy. However, the pompeii version highlights the fluidity of the band, Gilmour of course providing those licks, Rick playing responses to the notes Gilmour is playing, and I absolutely love seeing Nick Mason going harder on the drums, on most pink floyd tracks he is very conservative with his playing, which is good, however in this one he lets loose, and still does not drop a single beat or fall out of time, it's insane. Roger is not doing anything exceptional here, but the bassline services the song, that's all that matters really.
Not to mention, you actually get to watch them doing all of this, it's truly amazing.
Over head the albatross hangs motionless upon the air and deep beneath the ocean waves in labyrinths of coral caves...
Just think you will never get a chance to see PINK FLOYD playing live again, you can only dream
Hard to believe this is 50 something years ago. So far ahead of their time.
The first social distancing concert ever
Who can play in front of no one, in the middle of some here, live, and sound better than studio? Pink Floyd. This was simply amazing, epic!
1975. I was 14 years old (61 now). I had to go to a classmate's house to do some group schoolwork, dreading it because that day a new TV program about rock music was being premiered, they were broadcasting the entire Pompeii concert as an inaugural celebration, and I couldn't watch it. But I remember when I arrived home and my mom said she had seen it and was impressed. "Now that's music!", she said. My mom was 51 at the time and she usually HATED what was then contemporary music, saying "it's not music, it's just noise!" So, her comment was saying something! Decades later, when I got my first DVD player, my first DVD was the Pompeii concert, and I still love it! And "Echoes" is my favourite Pink Floyd song, too. (Again, this is saying something!) "Echoes" is a drug I'm addicted to, I get withdrawal symptoms when I don't listen to it for too long!
Yeah its nice to see the group put the drummer in the forefront.... he certainly deserved it...
Also, Part II begins with Rick Wright KILLING it on the keyboards. You guys are gonna love it!
exactamente, en la reacción falta la 2da. parte!
Yup, Part II is astounding.
“Poor guitar.” 😂
I dare anyone to tell me modern day pop or even rap is better than 70-80s music....heck even 50-60s 🤷😁
I love both versions.. but there's something about this live version. ECHOES of the past in a stadium 2000 years old. And here we are listening to Floyd who recorded this in the 70's. Echoes of Pink Floyd 50 years later and still stunning.
By the way.. this is where *Phantom of the Opera* comes from...
@@dominicpelle7841 Partly...also from some early Queen music!
@@lynnhoffman247 ....didn't know that.
@@dominicpelle7841 Listen to “White Queen” live from 1975 at the Odeon in Hammersmith, during the instrumental section. czcams.com/video/f8usNj4x9NA/video.html (The Bros also reacted to it a while ago.)
@@lynnhoffman247 *definitely..* thanks for that. Enhanced my appreciation of the DRAMA.. Queen created in their music. Cheers :)
This is so special ! 4 guys just jamming to perfection, in an ancient city , the ghosts of Pompeii if they could would rise up & enjoy . No doubts their spirits did … you two are so much fun to watch . Enjoy the magistracy that is Pink Floyd
PINK
FLOYD.
LONDON
Proud.
Should say:
Pink Floyd.
The Universe
cos they sure as hell ain’t from this world!
The best pink Floyd, Brasil 🇧🇷🤘🎸
The best 23 minute song in rock history.
The Saucerful of Secrets from Pompeii is my fave version
50 years ago. No auto-tune, just talent. Before they were stars. Before Dark Side of the Moon, before Wish You Were Here, before the Wall. BTW, Echoes began as improvisation between Gilmour & Wright... & after Wright died, Gilmour pledged to never perform Echoes again... & he hasn't.
They were never STARS.. no glitz no glamour never commercial..
@@dominicpelle7841 LOL...never commercial? Dark Side of the Moon was on the Billboard top 100 longer than any album in history. 957 weeks...that is 19 years! Sold quite a few records for a "not commercial" band.
Echoes and high hopes are my favourites
I’ve said this a million times but this is clearly the best song of all time. By a decent margin.
One of these days - Pink Floyd ... is a creepy instrumental on same album
Penderyn Lewsyn my favorite.
"One of these days...
I'm going to cut you in to little pieces."
I'm not threatening anyone, guys. These are the actual lyrics to the song.
The live version from the Delicate Sound Of Thunder tour is excellent.
Love how you guys get Floyd. :o)
Echoes, time and dogs are my favourites. Ask a 100 people about Floyd’s best songs and you will get a 100 different answers, and all 100 are the right answers.
Comfortably Numb live will blow your mind ( you will have to find it later when you think you've lost it ) Pink Floyd is sight and sound live band, the awesome light show takes you away and mixed with the great music, Genius! And You will be changed by David's solo to end the song. I've seen them 4 times but missed 1 " The Wall" in New York because I had a performance I couldn't get out of. Everytime was mind blowing
That drumming is something special in this world, ain't it?
Live in Gdansk blows this out the water. Period. It's the last time Richard Wright played it before he passed away. David Gilmour said he won't perform Echoes again
Have to admit, I prefer the Remember That Night version to the Gdansk one. But both excellent.
No f....ing way!! This version is the BEST version period!! Live or in studio!!
To each their own. I can't stand the Gdansk version. It's too polished for my taste. The Live at Pompeii version and recordings from the early 70's have an energy and rawness that's just so much more soulful to me. I think we could probably agree thought, Echoes is a masterpiece. Any Echoes is better than no Echoes 😉
no way this is just perfect
Guys, if you do go to Pompeii, be sure to bring a recording of this video!!!
Also, this film was made in 1971-2, and at that time there were a lot of movies coming out that were concerts, so a lot of groups were putting movies out showing their tours. So of course Pink Floyd had to show NO audience, contrary to what everybody else was doing. I also learned (From Director's Cut of this movie) that there were some young people that were allowed to stay in the exit tunnels to watch and listen, as long as they stayed out of camera view. It took 3 days to film, I would have been there every day, those lucky buggers!!!
Spiritual journey begins
George you are right they are all perfect in this musicianship of the highest standard, Nick Mason and Rick Wright are unsung heroes of Pink Floyd the are the heart beat of the band, they set the tone and emotion for most Pink Floyd songs.
Sheer brlliance! Atmospheric, exhilarating, eerie and so, so wonderful.
There was quite a large crowd at the beginning of the concert, but the Vesuvius erupted and most of the audience got engulfed in magma. The rest of them fled or were evacuated by helicopter. The band insisted on finishing the performance for the cameras.
They found those two guys under the umbrella slumped in their seats. It took them three days in the local hospital to bring them back to reality. Two weeks to wipe the stupid grins off their faces. Top quality reaction guys, best ever to Echoes in Pompeii.
Nature , good land , good weather , pink floyd👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻❤️🔥
Pink Floyd in my opinion is the greatest band of the 20th century.
Its sublime , i love the studio version but this is just on another level.
50 years ago! 🔥🎶🔥 and I’m sure people will be listening to this 50 years from now. Can’t wait for part 2! 👏🏼❤️🥰
And then...”Animals” album!
Rick and David voices are so beautiful ...... Roger and Nick settle a very nice rythmic structure..... this song is a master piece of course!!!
You don't need drugs to enjoy Pink Floyd, drugs need Pink Floyd period..........!!!
The best.....did you notice Nick losing a drumstick and faster than the speed of light replace it? Awesome.
Amazing!
To me, this is an exercise of perfection. 4 guys so in tune with each other it's ridiculous. All of them were shining as the lead but no one was more Powerful than the other. 4 Musical Savants 🎼 🎶 Just creating a song so tight, so perfect, so amazing that it has been around 50 years and still blows people's mind. The pinnacle of music history in my humble opinion.
One of my top 5 PF songs. I was a teenager in the late 60's and early 70's. We looked forward for the next PF album to come out. Each one is a masterpiece in its own way. Here we are 50+ years later still amazed at these masterpieces/
omg1971,the production values, the sound!!!
Amazing 1-hour documentary, a person uploaded it to CZcams 12 years ago, I really appreciate it, I already downloaded it.
😋🛸🌺🐺🐾
Helene here...Hi there guys! Thanks for this. The only negative for me watching this is seeing them so young....I’m their age so it makes me so damn nostalgic for my (and their) youth. Bittersweet. Gorgeous music...so evocative.
I love pink floyd man
The greatest concert dvd ever !!
“A saucerfull of secrets is epic !!
I love watching Patrick (I think...black shirt). I feel like I'm right there with him. It's beautiful!
Se ci fosse una gara musicale nell’universo ,noi (pianeta terra) saremmo rappresentati dai Pink Floyd!!
La loro musica è unica!
Loro sono unici!
Loro sono i Pink Floyd! SPAZIALI 👽
e penso che la vinceremmo anche!
@@nodarkside sicuro! Non ho dubbi a riguardo. 😉👍
Before Dark Side, They are so young here .
7:43 the single greatest noise a guitar has EVER made
The best way to listen to PINK FLOYD is with big headphones that cover the whole ear turn the lights down low and lay down in the middle of the room then smoke out and let them take you with them
Live at Pompeii is not just a live, it is an experience.
On the original album this work of art filled all of side 2 , 23 minutes !
This video was my 1st experience of Pink Floyd when I was 9 yrs old. They have been my favorite ever since that day at the Boys Club in Portland.
Hey guys, i did mention Pompeii in your "Sorrow" reaction so do yourselves a favour and fast forward to the 2017 concert again in Pompeii, the last PF concert if i'm not mistaken, it will blow your mind and for the fact that at almost 70, David can still make a guitar sing and feel the full emotion of it all. He is a guitar god and so so underrated which is shocking.
My goodness, this must be the 70s, they all look so young! I really liked this - there was just something special about it and it being live at Pompeii too is amazing. I see that Pink Floyd first formed in 1967 and 54 years later their music is just as strong as ever and I'm sure reaching a new audience every day. I don't think you can say that about a lot of bands, but they are up there with the best! I actually downloaded the song One of These Days from the same album a while ago - it's great! Really good reaction guys, cheers.
1971!! 🤗
Oops...1972...fat fingers, lol 😂
@@lynnhoffman247 Actually you were correct, it was recorded in October 1971 and then released in '72.
@@BlackiePawless Thanks...I guess I smoked too much back in the day 😉😂😎
@@lynnhoffman247 Yes but they probably wrote the song in '71 and put it all together for performances in '72 !!!
I like it starts off with a eerie vibe and ends with some funky music
In case you don't know - David Gilmore revisited Pompeii for a solo concert not that long ago. Stage set in the same arena. It was spectacular. Cd + dvd is available as I'm sure it's also online & tracks on u.tube.
Now it's time for "Careful with that axe Eugene"- Brighton Dome version. It's definitely the most "special" and darkest piece of music they
ever created. The atmosphere on this version, along with the video footage is incredible and unprecedented!
Rogers intention was to put all the pain, frustration, despair and anger that humans can be overwhelmed with in this song.
Therefore, to really appreciate it, one must surely be familiar with the darker aspects of live. But hey, it's an reaction channel, and i'm really curious
of your thoughts on that.
I struggle for words. So unique, so 60’s yet so timeless. Crazy good!
Imagine being the only fan in there, this place, this band, good God,it must have been religious.
Guys! It's a work night! How could you do this to me? I thought I'd just watch this 10 minute video before I went to bed - now I'm going to have to stay up and watch part 2 because only seeing part 1 is just a tease. Actually, I'll have to watch the whole movie because I just love seeing Dave and Roger being interviewed when they're so stoned they can hardly remember their own names. Plus, the version of Set The Controls at Pompeii is just mindblowing. Oh well, who needs sleep when you could be watching the Floyd?
FINALLY LOL 😆 I FIND IT SO HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS BEFORE DARK SIDE!! I WAS 16 WHEN DARK SIDE CAME OUT AND IT WAS THE FIRST I HAD HEARD OF PINK FLOYD!!
To cap off your Echoes experience I humbly suggest you react to the David Gilmour concert in Gdansk in 2006. It will blow your mind in a good way.
seeing Floyd in the seventies changed my life mind blowing experience that we floated all the way home - never quite the same - in a good way, so glad that I saw them the music always fantastic but the lights and effects were something else, keep up the reactions
OMG, OMG Pink Floyd is God of the gods. I Loved. React to Coming Back To Life PULSE 1994 or Atom Heart Mother. Please.
I loved React is Patrick and George.
they were the first to put on a show since the fall of Pompeii by the volcano Vesuvius in 79 AD . In 1972 and in 2016 .. 😎👍 Next one from Pink Floyd - Coming back to live ( Pulse concert 1994 ) = 3 guitar solo
VIVA! PINK FLOYD 🤘
Hey guys since you just watched this Please even if you do not react to it. Listen to this song Live in Dansk. It was Richard Wrights last tour with the band before he passed. Trust me on this one. Do it while the studio version is still fresh.
One thing you can say about Nick Mason- absolute precision.
When music is this great, you shouldn't meddle with it!
Ha Ha cute one!!!
I see what you did there... ;o)
One of these days.........one of these days.........
Guys, great work with the reactions.
Please DON'T forget to review the ANIMALS album.. It's inspired from George Orwell's famous book: The Animal Farm.
The representation of different ANIMALS for different classes of society remains relevant even today, maybe even more as time passes. Truly One-of-a-kind album...Not many people grasp it but I am sure you guys will.
PIGS and DOGS are epic and outstanding pieces.
Hoping for an upload of these masterpieces soon.
FLOYD and ZEPPELIN will rule Hard Rock forever !!!
They should hear the song Dogs of Pink Floyd
I kindly suggest "careful with that axe eugene" from the same concert in Pompei ... this is the best track by PF ever, they are from another UNIVERSE respect to any other band
Relaxing and interesting bliss
When I saw you guys reacting to even the studio version of 'Echoes, I was struck by the fact that *I* as a 52 year old woman had exactly the same reaction to this song that you do.
I was born in 1968, when my mother and father were only17 and 20, so I remember my dad bringing home Pink Floyd albums when they first came out.
Certain music makes us feel like we are on drugs, even when we're not. THAT is the power of music.
Whenever Gilmour does an epic solo...
God: get me my headphones
Lol, the collapse onto the sofa when the break hits is so instinctive, its brilliant
This live version of Echoes is a highly addictive drug. It's a sound that you will never forget, and worst of all... you will need to hear just to stay sane, alive. Seriously.
Pink Floyd is one of those bands that mellow you out and take you far way from life 💗. Such great deep music 🕊️. George (I hope I got the right one) you sound like you're still in space 😁
Still!
@@broaction5343 your voice while talking......I guess you were too far from microphone. Go back and listen.
For best results I recommend replacing your bulbs with black lights, smoke way more, add optional lava lamp, lightning globe or better yet a fish tank, order pizza before you melt, rinse and repeat.
David Gilmour did a concert at Pompeii just a few years ago.
The angry human metronome that is Nick Mason, killing it here as are everyone in the band. Wonder what Syd Barrett would think about it. Can't wait for Part 2. Try A Saucerful Of Secrets live here as well, Great job guys!
Those mics look like they double as one of those outdoor heaters. lol. Love you guys, thanks:)
The best ever, PF is BOSS.
SO glad you watched this, clicked on this so fast, lol.
dam I love this version! just too good!
Pure genius ❤
AMAZING video guys, pink floyd is such the greatest band ever, react to Wots Uh the Deal, another masterpiece
AND that was only part one!! LOL. Ur minds have been officially FLOYDED AGAIN!! B safe & well .. peace out🤘🏼✌🏼💞
Pink Floyd...SO FAR ahead of their time they were social distancing 50 years ahead of us now !!! That's how good they were/are!!! Now go back and listen to the audio version again and listen for all the extra guitar work David does and Rick Wright...It is by far superior!!!
Why are you guys sitting in that brightly lit room listening to Pink Floyd dude and dude you need some mood lighting for sure it will completely change the way you feel about music/ song especially from Floyd 👍
