@@kirawasareactor I second, Genesis (Supper's Ready) the album version. 23 minutes of perfection.
      One of the big differences between Echoes and Supper's Ready;
For a 23:27 minute song, Echoes contains only 193 words of lyrics.
For a 22:53 minute song, Supper's Ready contains a total of 952 words of lyrics.

All of Pink Floyd is super talented, but David Gilmore is just amazing. Doesn't play flashy stuff, but he always hits the most satisfying notes in with immaculate bends and vibratos. It's the like guitar is an extension of his soul haha. Gotta love it.
He also really really good at slide guitar. I'd suggest checking out "One of These Days" from Pulse Live 1994. Really cool instrumental.

"Dave was brilliant at double-tracking vocals...." - Richard Wright(the keyboard player). Not only does Gilmore "double track" his own vocals, but they mix perfectly with Rick's voice, as well. As they evolved, Roger Waters got a bit of an ego, and it's a damned shame. Had they stayed with the "Roger writes the lyrics while Dave and Rick come up with the music".... we can only imagine what they'd have done. Pink Floyd was greater than the sum of their parts, and they all knew it.
The documentary, "Which One is Pink" is something you should watch. It really tells how they got together, how Syd Barrett lost his mind, how David Gilmore became part of the band, and how they kept going with Syd's memory, and how much success they had because of it. I highly recommend it.

I've seen Pink Floyd three times, the first was The Wall at the LA Sports Arena, 2/7/1980 in "Quadraphonic Sound". The Second two times was the Pulse tour at the Rose Bowl 4/17/1994 and 4/18. In many parts this emotional piece is a “requiem”. The director and producer had chosen that specific location after finding himself alone in that amphitheater. (He had lost the wallet while on a trip with his fiance and a group of tourists in Italy and returned to look for it. It was almost sunset and he was very impressed by the silence and strange atmosphere. The echoes he noticed turned his mind to the Pink Floyd song.)
His emotions were enhanced by knowing the following facts:
On August 24, year 79, the silence in the Gulf of Naples was interrupted by the violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius. In 48 hours, during the eruption, thousands of people died and several cities were destroyed, two of them completely buried under the ashes : Pompeii and Herculaneum.
20,000 people lived in Pompeii, and the city had a thriving economy, supported by merchants, local producers and farmers.
The eruption of 79 was preceded by a strong earthquake, which occurred in February 62, and a smaller one, in 64. According to Pliny the Younger, the Romans were not alarmed by the earthquakes in the area, they took place quite frequently. Therefore, when, starting with August 20, 79, a series of small earthquakes shakes the region, the locals do not panic. The volcano was still quiet.
On August 24, around noon, Mount Vesuvius exploded, propelling a cloud of ash into the atmosphere. In the next 12 hours, tons of ash and volcanic material fell on the city of Pompeii.
Most of the inhabitants took refuge from the disaster, but about 2,000 people stayed behind, hidden in cellars or stone structures, hoping to be safe. The wind direction protected Herculaneum from the initial phase of the eruption, but eventually the city was covered by a toxic cloud of ash, followed by a deadly wave of pyroclastic flow. The inhabitants of Pompeii survived the first day of the eruption, but died on August 25, when a cloud of toxic gas flooded the city, suffocating the remaining.
The cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum were buried under a few meters of ash and volcanic material. With the passage of time, they were forgotten, being rediscovered only in the eighteenth century, when a marble statue was unearthed at the Herculaneum, following excavations. In 1748, a farmer discovered traces of ancient Pompeii on the land of his vineyard. Since then, excavations have continued almost uninterrupted to this day.
Currently, Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano on the European continent. It last erupted in 1944, but the last major eruption took place in 1631. Specialists expect the mountain to erupt again in the relatively near future. This time, however, about 700,000 people are in danger.

I came across your video through recommendations and it's so cute to see you react like this, I really recognized myself when I first listened to this masterpiece! The lyrics mean a lot to me, and the whole music is so beautiful and tells a story, and that's why Echoes is my favorite Pink Floyd song now (it's almost as if 23 minutes of this song weren't enough sometimes) :) thank you so much for your enthusiasm it was a pleasure to watch!

1:42 It made me so happy to see someone acknowledge rogers bass. No one ever really does out of all the reactions ive seen. He really is downplayed as a bassist & needs more recognition. Great reaction Loved it. You should react to another brick in the wall part 2, Live earls court 1980. Great performance, they’re last tour together as a group (well if you exclude their reunion in 2005 lol) But yeah you should really give it a try. Much love.

as a very long time floyd fan, it still holds up against anything else done today, just image that's approximate 50 yrs ago when they made it. so many influenced by it and their music all around the world. a love of their music and not their public ego, expression with feel and all members participating equally. just amazing to look back on when there was zero digital in any aspect of this.

This was filmed live in the amphitheater at Pompeii (no crowd, just crew) for release in cinema’s in U.K.
Pompeii was a Roman town near what is now Naples on the coast of Italy. In AD 79 the nearby volcano Mt Vesuvius erupted and completely buried Pompeii and Herculaneum under 15 metres of volcanic rock/ash. It was forgotten about until accidentally discovered about 150 years ago, and has since been excavated.
I was 14 when this was filmed in about 1972 and I went to see it at the cinema at the time ( I’m 63 now) it was a Sunday night showing just one night only
.
I was mesmerised and still love it to this day, ( it’s still available on DVD from Amazon !) Meddle is my favourite Pink Floyd album.
I have visited Pompeii and Herculaneum recently and even climbed Vesuvius and peered in ! It’s fascinating and well worth the visit. Two Roman towns completely preserved for 2000 years under volcanic rock and now excavated so you see it as it was the day of the eruption in AD 79
