A lot of tech folks are comparing this to the Apple Studio Display. The challenge is that they are two very different monitors, aimed at different end users. Samsung's has a far broader appeal and is probably the better choice for most people, as it is substantially cheaper and full featured. It's IO, speakers and display is worse than Apple's (from what I have seen), but I think Apple missed the mark with the Studio Display and it is far too expensive for what it is.
Long story short, I would get this instead.
I would not compare with the Apple Studio Display as that is 5K which is better and only two devices have that resolution. So this compares with 4K displays like the Huawei Mateview. The latter is £300 cheaper in the UK and a much better monitor. I am not interested in the "smart" features as you can get those on my TV or by just hooking up a PC. This Samsung device seems way overpriced, cheap-looking and pretty average display (does not even look like it is IPS).
How can you not compare it. The Samsung display looks exactly like M1 iMacs/Sudio display.

@@andyH_England All fair points. I guess in trying to make the same point (i.e. they are not comparable), I threw my own point to one side and compared them anyways 😂
I have just seen folks from tech CZcams, tech Twitter and some tech podcasts making the comparison. I thought it was odd.
Also keep in mind that this monitor was announced back at CES before the apple event.

From what I can tell this is a better and more versatile monitor than the overly expensive Apple Studio Display… I would definitely get this if I was in the market for a display.

Not to defend the Apple Studio Display's high price but it is a display for content creators, designers etc. It most probably has more accurate colours which is important for designers, editors etc so I think both are different. But this monitor which everything it includes is pretty amazing. If in the future they can use their high-end displays like QLED, AMOLED or Mini-LED it would be insane but I doubt it because of how expensive their QLED TVs are.
@@OXIR Price is never the problem. Nobody wants to make an oled monitor bc of burn in issue. Unlike phones or tablets, where people only look at for minutes or couple hours at a time, a monitor has to work around the clock. That kind of usage is not something oled panels can handle.
And the stand is free not 400$ lol

I was waiting so long for someone to review this monitor! Yas! The main gripe with the previous monitor, the M7, was that it didn't get very bright. This one is 400 nits, while the old one is 250 nits, so think this will be my new monitor. Thank you, Thao. 😍

What are the other differences?

I looked at the price….how does this Samsung monitor that has a ridiculous amount of features still is at a fraction of the cost of the Apple monitors? I’m amazed
Simply because its a VA panel with 60hz refresh rate. Basically a quite old technology

Its a standard 4K VA panel so really not comparable, just like a Porsche cost twice the price of a Mustang. I'm not saying its worth it tho.

I really like the M8 monitors features but the screen is too large for me. I'm really sad that there is only one screen size. I would have buy if it would be available in 24 or 27 inch.
I bought M7 about six months ago and I absolutely love it! But now I want this in color pink 😁 the only thing I would upgrade are tho preset buttons on remote control. I watch almost exclusively youtube so I would like to have it as a shortcut

Operates pretty much like Samsung's current line of TVs. Event the remote looks almost exactly like the one that came with my TV. Nice!

great review! so when I was reviewing the Samsung M7 I mentioned that the m7 does almost all, but wouldn't be for a designer/video editor, because of the screen and not for a heavy gamer since it is only 60hz. would the screen be a solid option for editors/designer?

I have Samsung TV at home. After watching this video, I can say this monitor is exactly what my Samsung TV can do, including the Office 365 and Samsung Internet app. I like my Samsung TV, so i think this monitor should be great too.
