    Samsung's smart monitor line-up has always been pretty interesting, and it's even more interesting, especially after a particular company's monitor was released that feels a bit lackluster... The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 might be something you should look at if you need something that fits in a small space and does almost everything you need.

      I totally agree.
      It fits good in to the relaxed and unscripted first impression scheme which shortcircuit targets.
      Gathering the technical specs and maybe some background information, a unboxing and giving a soft impression of what to expect from the product.
      Thats all you need and also all that shortcircuit does.
      The Production quality is still superior compared to any other full reviews on youtube.

      Unfortunately I'm absolutely not into Apple products and as such can only give you a cursory answer that I kind of snatched up in the last few videos of the Apple Studio Display. The main issue with 4K is that Apple is scaling differently than linux/windows. I cannot give you the details, but it uses a weird custom scaling that perfectly fits with 5K display resolution but makes e.g. text on a 4K display look slighty unsharp/fuzzy around the edges of characters. I can only presume this to be the mentioned problem but this might be enough to google for more details

    • @Daniel-zy1ir
      @Daniel-zy1ir Před 2 lety

      @@speedyg123. Like with many questions regarding such topics, there is no general best option. I myself still use a 1080p 144hz monitor because it is enough for me and your best choice depends on your intentions. If you wish to primarily watch movies or game, this impacts you much less than daily work in office 365 or programming. Also depends on you not minding the scaling issue when you have the monitor yourself (ofc sending it back then is still an option). As a general approach, I would honestly just go for the 4K and see for myself how bad it is - worst case sending it back and looking for a 5K or maybe some 2k mac scaling compatible choice

    I got the M7 predecessor to this - Samsung had discounted it and also had a cashback to clear stocks ready for the M8, so I got it for £187 ($244 inc tax). At that price, the M7 was well worth it just for being a 32" 4K monitor.
    After trying them out once (the built-in Office stuff was horribly laggy/slow and it had a Teams icon that told you it does nothing and you have to run Teams on your PC instead - ridiculous, but maybe they fixed that in the M8, especially now there's a webcam included), I don't even bother using any of the smart features because I have a Linux desktop attached.
    I did do the initial setup in my kitchen with nothing attached for the lolz and I do use the remote control to turn it off and on, but that's it. Every monitor, dumb or smart, should have a remote control in addition to onboard controls - it makes monitor UI navigation so much more convenient. One thing that the M7 suffered from was being a rather dark display (I believe this has been improved with the M8), but I found the right M7 settings to boost the brightness to a reasonable level (no, it's not just increasing the brightness to 50 [yep, 50 is the max, not 100]).
    The M8? Well, the $729 price is frankly ludicrous - three times the price of my M7! I like the M8 webcam (but I have a good Logitech USB 1080p webcam attached to my Linux PC already), but very little else seems to have improved over the M7. In fact, the M8 is available in 4 colours, none of which are the M7's black (all my kit is black and I suspect I'm not the only one) - it's very dumb of Samsung to not offer the M8 in black.
    Conclusion: M8 is a nice monitor but massively overpriced and not a big enough advance over the M7 to justify its price or even its existence. It's made me even happier that I got the M7 so cheap (trying to find a sub-£200 32" 4K dumb monitor in the UK is impossible, let alone a smart one).

      @@eadweard. micro hdmi is a horrible connection. Don't be surprised if it breaks after the 10th time you use it.

    Love your guys video and I like how they are just doing a quick unboxing but I really felt like their was not enough prep gone into this video not all the features were covered and it wasn’t very short form like most “short” circuit videos are. Would love to see a little more work gone into it before recording started or at least more time and editing gone into so It didn’t feel like I was wasting a bunch of time to get only half the information.

    A Samsung product and you still have to evoke Apple to draw traffic. SMH.

    Serious question, are ads being served while in smart monitor mode? Because all my smart TVs now blast me with ads so I had to disconnect it from the internet.

    There was a sale here in Germany of those because nobody buys them and I got one. Most underrated product category.
