Rebels was a Disney project for money first and formost. with Clone Wars episodes also having some episodes be made with higher budgets. Style wise, Rebels was animated more in line with the original concert art by Ralph Mcquarrie, which is generally pretty bland in terms of lighting, while Clone Wars went for their own stylistic approach. Rebels is definitely more bland and visually uninspiring, but thats more because of outside factors.

Hondo was reduced to comic relief in Rebels. In the Clone Wars, Hondo is a brilliant strategist, AND funny. He also literally commanded a Pirate ARMY. Hondo feared nothing.
