Another great "walking in the footsteps of giants" video. Thinking about rebuilding a transmission in a Triumph was incredibly terrifying for me. Now, it's merely terrifying. Can't wait for the next episode.
I had to mess with Wilma ' s overdrive when I first assembled the car. Next time I replaced the clutch I build a new wireing harness. I don't ever want to do what you are a doing! Bless you Elin.
Hi Elin I recently came to know your channel, watching all your videos many times, I did renovate 2 TR6 many years back the second one is almost 75%complete and sleeping for last 8 years, of course I am not as professional as you are, Irish I had your tools.keep up the good work.waiting for more videos.
impressive work! i thought i did a lot today when i drained my transmission and put in fresh fluid, bled my clutch and changed my oil. you definitely win!
Great video. I'm watching with interest. I've never been into any of my over drives as you know. Looks like you found a couple of different issues. Can't wait for the next part!
hi Elin I had a customer buy a TR6 on ebay from Texas(we're in NJ) and the transporters backed it off in overdrive because the wiring (or lack of it) let it be in overdrive! I refered him to a specialist in Conn. Good luck always Steve
I am thinking of the same here. The wiring was done in such a way that the circuit was closed at all times (by my ex colleague) The car was barely driven since, but it is possible that it was reversed with the OD in the on position. Anyways, I was expecting a bigger damage and I am happy it wasn't so serious. Let's see how I am going to do with the assembling.
Haha, I know, that happened to me many years ago with the transmission of my first car when I took the cover off. Springs, balls, half gears, broken shafts.... everything poured out.... never put that one back together :)
Wow. Takes a lot of courage to take one of these apart and it's not even yours. :) I'm in the middle of my TR3 restoration and my overdrive was not working before I started. I found a bad switch so I'm hoping that was the problem. If I do, I'll be ready now thanks to you. As always, nice work!
Elin, thanks for your fantastic videos! Do you (or does anyone else) know which switch is which on the A Type? I have one from a TR6 and don't have the wiring for the lockout switches or relay. Thanks!
my jag 240 overdrive never worked had it 5 years had car on ramps removed piston plunger and piston head has come away got new piston in it so now its building pressure not tried car on the road yet but bak wheels raised with a jack and took car through the gears with over drive engauged but revs never dropped when it went in to fourth gear does that mean its stil not working or has car wheels got to b lowerd on to road and test it that way by driving car my one is laycok norman devile compact overdrive slitly diferent to yours
He hasn't watched it yet. I am sure he doesn't even watch them, he just sees a video by me and hits the dislike button. I'd be really ashamed if someone filmed my shit and showed it to the world. I wouldn't watch it for sure :)

To be honest I thought it was more complicated too. I hope I am not underestimating it now, but it looks like an easy job :)
Maybe for you Elin... The last guy who worked on it proved that it's also an easy job to completely f@*# up. Still waiting for that thumbs-down. ;-)
Superb video, thank you very much saved me a lot of time and heartache.

It is good Wilma has an overdrive. My 66 doesn't and I need one badly.

Well it is not a little what you did. I spent hours on bleeding the clutch, just because I was doing it on my own. So you did a good job too!
Looking forward to seeing you continue with this rebuild.
Yeah, I am pretty exited too

The next part? It will be sooner than you expect :)
Really great video, Thank you for sharing this
Excellent coverage, it will really help me with my 75 TR6 fitted with the same OD unit.
I hope I do a good job with the assembling too. Thanks for the nice comment

I alway wondered how those overdrives work. Thanks for the education Elin.
I still don't know :) but I am learning!
7:35 when the springs came falling out! Hilarious

I felt badly for Elin, because I"m sure we've all been there. And he just soldiered on!

A lot of courage or a lot of underestimation of how serious the job is :) I hope it is the first one. Good luck with your TR3
LOVE this!
