I was SHOCKED to learn recently that the *Hotel Transylvania* films were directed and created by the legendary Genndy Tartakovsky. Yeah! The same animation icon responsible for *Dexter's Labratory, Samurai Jack and PRIMAL*

Part of the reason I wanted to watch this movie is because I'm such a huge fan of him. He has created such terrific series. You can see clearly it's his work by watching the credits 😄

I LOVE this movie and its sequel! The Invisible Man is my favorite character and the BEST line is, "Wooden stake to the heart?" "Well, yes, who wouldn't that kill?" 🤣🤣🤣
Dracula had many powers in legend. Shape-shifting, mind control, and more.
What’s really sad is when you realize the zombies he used in the made up village are the villagers he killed after his wife was murdered. That’s why they look the same.
If you think of it from his perspective (humans are evil and monsters are good), he kind of “purified” or “saved” them from their humanity. Of course being a zombie doesn’t sound like a blast, but it seems like he kind of spared them in his own way? As in making them zombies/ not killing them completely. Kind of sad to think that he, in his own way, was more merciful to them than they were to his wife.

Or they just reused the models. Also idk how you even came to this conclusion, we never even see the humans in Drac’s flashback. They’re just a faceless mob crowd that he’s trying to placate.
Yessss I love this movie. The others in the franchise aren't as good as the first in my opinion but they ARE amazing too

This is one of the few newer movies that I am actually fully on board with for them to milk the franchise!
I actually love this. Even though they’re all horror characters and are the gruesome of the gruesome, it’s so funny seeing them be comedic and deal with “normal problems” especially when they talk about myths within the myths about themselves.
“Would a wooden stake through the heart kill you?” “Who wouldn’t that kill?” Dracula actually has a point that no one ever thought about 😂

Selena Gomez as Mavis is the sweetest thing.
“Cause your my zing” needs to be on Spotify cause it’s actually a bop.
Kuzco- aka David Spade- as Griffin the Invisible man is also another fantastic touch.
The Hotel Transylvania is one of the few movies that doesn’t ruin the horror genre by “child proofing it”. It’s still enjoyable and respects the original origins of each characters.

@@melian1312 When you watch the movie, the moment Quasi and Esmeralda catch Johnny and are trying to eat Johnny cause he smells like a human (cause he is a human) and then Dracula has to save them so no one can find out that Johnnystein is a human. And the full line Johnny says to Dracula after that was “Hey thanks for saving me back there. That guy’s crazy trying to eat me! That’s only happened to me one other time. Some weird dude at a Slipknot concert”.
Nick blurred and muted that moment in his reaction but it’s suppose to be at 34:50.
But it was a nice touch for us metal fans since our brands and music taste isn’t every really in mainstream media :)

Kinda goofy movie, no, not that one, but tons of entertainment and a great message. Watched this one with my dad, and then that week, watched Brave with my mom. Quite the pleasant coincidence. Such good times 😇
As a big Universial monsters fan, I kinda really love this. Haven't seen the sequels, though. And it's nice that they get most of Sony's usual toilet humor out of the way near the start so the rest of it can shine.
I find it kind of funny that Drac had all these monsters in on the anti-human mentality when a lot of them USED to be human.
I forgot how well done this movie is! It's been years since I watched it, mainly because the sequels dissapointed me, but that's just my opinion, I'm glad people still enjoy them!
The Hotel Transylvania franchise is one of my all time favorites, i can still remember the day i first watched this film!!!

Dracula is a very good and wonderful father to his daughter in this movie, he only want what's best for her of course that's what fathers do for their daughters.

Really like this film! I remember watching it with a friend and had a lot of fun. Learning that Gennedy Tartatovsky had a hand in Hotel Transylvania only made my experience all the more enjoyable. The characters, the story, and the humor is awesome imo. Thanks a lot for reacting to this, Nick and glad you’re feeling better.🙂

I really like this movie! Had some pretty great humor and some pretty great characters. Also, I don't know if you recognized the voices, but since you reacted to Grown Ups with TimotheeReacts (along with Cody), this movie features four of the actors from that film, which are Adam Sandler (Drac), Kevin James (Frankenstein), Steve Buscemi (Wayne), and David Spade (Invisible Man).
Can't wait for you to check out the rest of the franchise! Honestly, you along with Sophie Lents (who's my favorite reactor) always make my day with these reactions.

I love that the movie subverts your expectations about humans so much that you forget the obvious: we’re humans and we love monsters.
Just a heads up if you plan to do the rest of the movies. Adam Sandler only signed on for 3 movies which is why they replaced him with first time voice actor Brian Hull.
Brian Hull has his own CZcams channel and does fantastic voices and can mimic pretty much any character. He did the voice for Dracula in the shorts for these movies and than was the replacement for Adam Sandler in the 4th movie, because like I said Sandler only signed up for 3 movie.
i'll be honest. this movie series is probably close to bottom tier of "major / high profile" animated series overall for me, but my god that animation is fun to watch. the way the characters express as if they are 2d cartoons is incredible and i don't believe i've ever seen anything like it before or since from 3d animation.
I hope ur feeling better Nick and The Hotel Transylvania movies are one of my favorites. I love Adam Sandler in this😂
The first Hotel Transylvania movie is amazing. The second and third movies are okay, but I don't know if you'll like the fourth film, it's like the Ice Age 5 of Hotel Transylvania (they ruined Johnny and Mavis' characters, just like Ice Age 5 ruined Manny, Ellie, Peaches, Sid, Buck, Crash and Eddie's), while Hotel Transylvania 2 and 3 are like the Ice Age 4 of Hotel Transylvania, unless you plan on reacting to Ice Age 5 and Buck Wild (it's a spin-off movie about Buck and a slight improvement over Ice Age 5, but still not a good movie) as well. But I think you should definitely react to Ice Age: Scrat Tales (it's a series of six three-minute shorts featuring Scrat).
Part 2 is okay and has several funny moments, but they ruined the franchise with part 3 and 4.

Selena was Mavis 😄 Addam Sandler is Drac, David Spade is the invisible Man, and Steve buschemi is the wolf man, I know there are other big names in these movies but those are the ones I remember. The songs in the second are just straight up fifth harmonies "in love with a monster" made specifically for the movie and it's played throughout. Love it.

Adam Sandler was NOT in the 4th Hotel Transylvania movie. CZcamsr, Brian Hull is Dracula in that one.

Hello Nick! Hope you're well. It's good that you already saw the first Hotel Transylvania movie. Without a doubt, the first film is my favorite and the best of all, in my opinion. I recommend that you see, if you haven't seen it yet, the movie Catch Me If You Can (2002) starring Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. Take good care Nick and I look forward to your next reaction.

In the old series of Duck Tales there was an episode about monsters with an similar ending.
The episode name was "Ducky Horror Picture Show"
Uncle Scrooge was producing a lot of monster movies and real monsters was upset because the movies are influecing "scares" to the kids but an unexpected happy ending happens for them :3

I love how this movie HAS a love story but it's not the main plot. This movie is more about Drac and Johnny becoming friends and I love it for that. That's the reason we didn't get much Mavis because the movie isn't really about her when you take a step back. I think it's neat that the movie went in that direction.
The music is horrible and dated as hell though hahaha.

I find it funny how a lot of people consider Johnathan the worst thing about this entire franchise, but he's a lot more likable than I thought he'd be. And looking back to all of this and seeing all the heartfelt moments brings me back to all the reviews Animat made trashing this and the Cloudy films and how he seemed to completely ignore the heartfelt moments. These films have just as many sight gags as the Despicable Me films, a franchise he's a fan of, and somehow, he noticed all the heartfelt moments in those but missed the heartfelt moments in the HT franchise. I'd argue the only real issue with the first film, though, is that whole 'You only zing once' BS. That's a really bad message for kids.
