I feel a bit sad for Johnny. He wanted some time with Mavis, but her sights are a bit narrowed. I wish they talked about it in the movie and resolved it like partners

Honestly, I feel like both Dracula and Mavis messed up in this situation. Drac pushed him too hard to be a vampire and Mavis pushed him too hard to be a human.
I kinda wish in end they’d apologize for their actions.

Mavis: you know what I mean being Stuck in the hotel for years, not seeing much of the real world like Johnny but I see now that Dennis loves the hotel he’s got friends and family that are there for like me. I should have been Grateful that you did everything in your power to make sure I was loved and care for, I’ll try a little more understanding on your part.
Drac: I’m sorry to mavy I just wanted to keep my whole family together until I saw history repeating itself I don’t want Dennis to end up what happened to me. I’ll try to be Flexible on some of the human Activities for Dennis but get rid of the sleep Schedule.
Mavis: I can live that.
Drac: and Spend more time with Johnny you’ve been Ignoring him for Quite some time.
Mavis: ok and I want Dennis to get to know his human side so let Johnny’s family come to visit.
Drac: alright, alright.
Dennis: so does that mean we get stay Transylvania?
Mavis: that Depends do you really stay here?
Drac,Johnny and Dennis:yes!!!
Mavis: then yes we can stay here.

It's so adorable that Dracula is a grandfather, I would love to have Dracula as a grandfather. Because I love vampires because they are so cool, you get to sleep all day and stay up all night.

Just for the fun, I calculated the height of the tower with the free fall a little later...
The tower would be about 7000m tall... Or about 23000 ft.
So this precarious wooden tower is over seven ninths of Mt. Everest, no wonder they stopped using it for insurance. A little over third-way, you may start having altitude sickness... And don't think about making it fall, this thing will cause damage... Oops, it did...
Here's the math:
Time's about 38 seconds
Acceleration is -9.8 meters per second per second
Initial Speed is 0 meters per second
Distance = Initial Speed * Time + 0.5 * Acceleration * Time^2
First part equals zero, so Distance = 0.5 * Acceleration * Time^2
0.5*-9.8*38^2 = about -7075 meters
The bottom of the tower is 0m so the top is 7075m

Hearing two Mel Brooks voice performances, (Bigweld in _Robots_ and Dracula's dad here) in the same week is such a unique experience. And that "sandstorm" scene cracks me up every time.

Something that I think is really cool is that Bela (the giant bat thing that belongs to Vlad), is named after Bela Lugosi who played the first legal film version of Dracula. Lugosi’s version of Dracula is always the one done in parodies, because Dracula’s accent was actually Bela Lugosi’s real accent. It’s the one that Hotel Transylvania’s Drac is based on, and having a character named Bela is these movies is a fun little reference for us monster nerds.

Lol the problem with Johnny’s vampire disguise is that it’s the Dracula costume from the 90s Dracula film 😂 Also, the masked singing guy is the Phantom of the Opera. If you haven’t seen it yet, I would love to see your reaction to the 2004 Phantom of the Opera film!

The first one will always have a special place in my heart, and I love Selena Gomez so this franchise is always amazing for me. Is it top tier like How To Train Your Dragon? No not in my opinion but I still love the wholesome and fun-ness in this.
And Mavis as a gothic bride looked amazing 🖤 and Drac will always be the overprotective parent no matter how hard he tries not to.

Your not alone in opinions on this movie, the first one is a little bit better than the first one mostly because it has more heart to it but this movie is also pretty good 👍

The first one was still superior indeed, but I found it touching that brief scene where Dracula still sees Mavis as a little girl. I bet so many parents have that vision. But... I did dislike the fact that Dennis became a vampire. It kinda ruined the acceptance message 🙁

I agree. As cute as Dennis is as a bat it defeats the point. The whole movie was Drac trying to push him into becoming a monster and denying that he’s human. Instead of just accepting it in the end he gets what he wants and Dennis becomes a vampire.
If they wanted the message to be that it’s Dennis’s choice they could’ve focused more on Mavis trying to make him stay human and trying to fit in. If the message was great grandpa Vlad accepting humans despite centuries, probably millennia, of hating them. They should have introduced him earlier besides a few mentions. It’s a cute movie but it’s like they couldn’t decide what the movie was supposed to be, tried to be all of them, and didn’t really hit any of them.

Here’s an idea: give Dennis a single fang in the spot he lost his baby tooth, making a “set up pay off” scenario, and symbolism for his half-human half-vampire situation. It would a killer character design choice in the long run!

The second movie is way better in my opinion. Very entertaining the whole way through.
Everyone keeps missing the part where whinny refers to Dennis as zing
While the first one is my favourite, I still love the animation style here. Especially when Dracula has a stoic face, except for his mouth such as "I don't say blah blah blah..."
I was a bit confused that they were discussing so much about him being either human or a vampire.
Like... if anything he is def a dhampire.
Vampires and humans reproducing together is nothing new and in popculture media dhampires have been aroud.
Mostly they receive all the beneficial traits from their parent's species.
So we are practically getting a vampire that can walk in daylight and eat all the garlic bread he/she wants, but has a very long lifespan/slow aging process. It does depend on which piece of media you look at.
(I wonder if they can see their reflection or not tho, that's interesting)

This series wasn't perfect In my opinion, but I love how wholesome these movies can be, it really feels like you grow with the family as the movies go on
The franchise was good, until a point. It could be heartwarming and super entertaining, but then it went the same road as the Shrek movies. It tried to add too much comedy in moments that didn't need it. Kung Fu Panda went to a similar road as well, though not as badly.

@@lulystalgianature2968 For me, it’s kind of like the Ice Age franchise. It’s easy to digest, shooting low hanging fruit jokes, so most people will like them. Not exactly a great franchise, but it makes money because most jokes are physical and people with different cultures and backgrounds can easily understand.

Since I missed out on the first film in theaters, I seized the opportunity to see Hotel Transylvania 2 on the big screen, with a friend. Imo, I like this film! It’s entertaining and the characters are still fun. Thanks for reacting to this, Nick!🙂

Hello Nick! It's great that you already watched Hotel Transylvania 2. Although the first movie is my favorite, the second one isn't too bad, but it doesn't beat the first movie. I recommend you to watch Wreck It Ralph (2012) and Ralph Breaks The Internet (2018) movies. You are going to enjoy them a lot. I'm probably one of the few people who honestly considers this the best installment. Everyone was calling this the weakest one until Transformania came out, but this one honestly had the best humor. The only thing that gets me is the ending twist. I would have vastly preferred it if the son had been human. Would have been much more powerful.

This movie was fun and I enjoyed it, but i think I'll always have a problem with Dennis getting his vampire fangs in the end. It feels like it undermines the entire message they were setting up throughout the whole movie. :\

I know people can say that Dennis not being a human is anti-climatic. However it makes sense that he would be what’s called a dhampir, half human and half vampire. I think my favorite thing in this film was the fight scene. I like to recommend another underrated film, Pete’s Dragon 1977. The music is awesome, the story is great, and it’s so magical.
