  • 1950 childs toy the REBI motor made by Willy Honsel in Germany. Full manufacturer's name is: Rebi-Heissluftmotor [Vakuumotor] Metallwaren-Fabrik Honsel K-G. It's called a "flame licker engine" or "vacuum engine" or "Flame gulper engine". They operate on Methylated spirit (wood alcohol or "moonshine" in USA). They were red and green or red and Blue.
    The plaque on the rear gives the date 1950 and states 200 to 1000 RPM developing 1/50 PS. There is also a vertical cylinder model. There are 6 castings used in the manufacture of this lovely toy.

    1/50 PS. 1950s toy, alcohol burner, 200 to 1000rpm. Since the contraction of the flame is 50% of the stroke, the remaining 50% generates pressure which the relief valve expels.
