I laughed so hard, when you said stop wearing all black clothes with a pop color in your accessories, because that’s exactly what I’m wearing today. I love color and rarely wear all black, but today I didn’t feel like thinking about my outfit
lmaoooo---all in love, boo!
I feel attacked but you’re right
"B*tch stop thinking small" 😂😂😂😂😂 DANIELLE PLS!
lmaooooooo! heyyyyy booooo
I literally took notes. It’s so hard for me to find my color. But people always compliment me when I wear light pink 🤷🏽♀️
This is great. I also follow Cocoa Styling For Dark Skinned Women here on YT and she touches on this very subject❤😊. She incorporates the Kitchener and Kibbe methods too.
I love her channel also. She has helped me tremendously.
I love Cocoa Styling too. I'm a brown POC (Asian) and have learned a lot from her.
A must watch for brown skinned folk
I LOVE seeing so many examples of WOC. Can your season change based on how tan you get?
thank you! I get so annoyed seeing color analysis info that only show white women. I think your overall season will still pretty much remain the same even as you tan BUT the more you tan, the more it could affect your level of contrast. So you might still wear the same season, but you might combine colors differently based on contrast. hope that makes sense!
I typically have neutral/cool undertones in winter but warmer undertones after being in sun. But makeup artists have always told me that isn't typical. But then they were likely basing that on white women. I bet down the line someone will figure out that for ppl like me it does change
@@ellegee6660Check out Cocoa styling’s video on “Transition Seasons”. Idk your complexion but Beyonce and Rihanna often can play with multiple season colors and aren’t “true” to their seasons. Also, sometimes it’s the saturation and contrast, or even lighting. I appear ‘cool’ in winter but I am just neutral warm and the winter lighting makes it seem different. Maybe you are the opposite and the summer’s yellow light makes you look different but you are neutral cool. For me, I look more harmonious in gold than silver but bc I am closer to neutral, sometimes silver looks better than yellow gold bc yellow gold is too saturated whereas rose gold beats all others (still gold but muted). Maybe that’s helpful.
I so appreciate this breakdown with the celebrities beside the palettes. I have been curious about getting an in-person analysis, but your girl is on a budget and I already made a rule buying things that make me feel and look my best.
I recently reorganized my closet and realized that I graviate towards a lot of the similar items and colorways, which makes it easy to mix my clothes to make new outfits.
I am definitely going to rewatch this and use the tips for paring it down.
Definitely appreciate the humor and style training.
I'm definitely low contrast and tend to gravitate towards blush pinks, warm yellows, olive greens. I dip my toes in royal blue, bright yellow and hot pink. Even my makeup is along those lines; I really do what works for my skin tone instead of what is trendy. I've seen this color wheel before, thanks for breaking it down 😊
This is the best video that I have seen breaking down the colour analysis for WOC. I have followed my colour analysis matching (dark autumn) for about 2 years now, and I am so happy with my wardrobe- when I shop, I have a really good idea of if the item I am purchasing will work with my wardrobe. I also wear so much more of my wardrobe, because most of the pieces work together together colour wise.
Saving this video. I may have watch this 10 more times😊
Haha ayeeeee
This is amazing!!! I always say that if I change my hair color I’d feel like my clothes don’t match! The high contrast and low contrast explanations made all that make sense
What was the hardest for me was figuring out my primary trait. Because that is important in figuring out your seasonal color palette. I thought I was medium contrast, medium in depth and muted and thought muted was my main/primary trait. I knew I was neutral-warm or was at least "pretty sure about it" after figuring out that Soft Autumn looks better on me than Soft Summer. But I still felt like that was not the correct palette for me. For True Autumn I wasn't warm enough, my own coloring not rich enough and even though I really liked the grungy look the True Autumn colors gave me, acknowledging that (it gave me that grungy look) ultimately made clear I definitely wasn't True Autumn.
I would've never tried the palette that actually suits me best because I was too biased by what others have told me for my entire life and was way too sure my coloring was muted, so I actually booked a consultation and came out to be Light Spring with my primary trait being light. So I need light, neutral-warm and rather clear colors. I mean, if I had tried that palette, I would've ultimately known it was mine, because it makes me shine like no other, but I would've never done that.
So while I think you CAN definitely figure out which palette is yours, even nail it to the t in figuring out your very best (or your "wow") colors from that one palette, I also think it will not work when you're too biased about your own coloring.
Now that I know my palette, I am in awe about the effect they have on my complexion and even enjoy wearing the warm, light and bright green tones that I was always so fascinated about and never dared to wear. But those actually flatter me the most. The greens, the peaches, the corals. Would've never thought, I'd love coral lipstick so much while now it's my favorite color to wear on the lips.
And trust me, I once was one of those who wore only black with maybe a dash of color here and there. Now I barely ever wear black.
Oh and btw: Even though I am caucasian and very pale, I am so happy to see color analysis for people of color. I mean... how often do we hear dark complexions are either winter or autumn while that imho is simply not true for poc.
This was the best explanation I have seen on color analysis.
So, SO helpful! Thanks for showcasing more melanated skin!
This video came right on time. I was researching my season the other day. I am a dark autumn. I can’t wait to incorporate these tips into my wardrobe. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Oooo nice, I'm a bright winter!
I think I'm a bright winter along with my good sis Lupita 😃! I went for colour analysis recently and it makes sense now why some colours just don't work with my skin tone.
First time viewer here. Love your sense of humour and presentation!
I’m a dark winter! I went and had my colors done out here in Dallas it truly makes a difference
twinsies!!!! and yes, it does make a difference! I'm going to be more conscious of this myself even though I studied color theory through my Image Consulting program over a decade ago.
This video is packed full of good information. I'm a neutral undertones person (I thought I had warm undertones for years). Thanks for giving examples of people. I will be rewatching this one again and again.
hey boo! thank you so much---glad I could help!
At Sephora, I was told that I'm a "red-leaning neutral." Not a true warm toned/red tone, but also not classically neutral.
Thank you for this video!
you're adorable! earned a subscriber, thanks for the humor amd tips! you are down to earth and simplify this so ican understand it!
Yay! Thank you!
u talk about everything i have passion for i loveee you
yassss I love this for us!!! lol
I'm a east asian woman with a lighter skintone but this video helped me out a lot!!! Thank you and awesome demonstrations
Don’t know why I find you funny 😂
Great video, I love your vibe!
aww thank youuu!
I think I need a full length video on me. It’s never simple because we have to base it on our perception of what we look good in lol. I could think I look good in gold but never truly know.We need help determining WHAT ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD!
Style vloggers are so "chic" and "delicate" falling into fake, I struggle a lot to see a video with people like that, but you, Danielle, you're charisma and personality is so real, so likeable, I adore this video.
awww thanks!!!
Thank You. 😊❤
I use to be a sort of "rich" or deep autumn as a young person. Now that I'm older, I feel I'm more "muted" and probably a "soft autumn". Thanks for doing this. You made it fun to watch.
Aww you're welcome!
This is perfect!!!! I’ve just realised I might be a bright spring after thinking I was an autumn. I had this one top that completely threw me off, it’s a colourful pink but it’s an autumn pink so it has a hint of grey in it. I usually wear no makeup but any time I wore it I needed lipstick because it made my lips look dead. I thought they looked dead because the colour was too bright but softer colours were even worse!!! My whole face was washed out. Turns out that even a little grey puts a grey cast over my skin, I need bright colours. I should’ve known because I had these BRIGHT warm red pants and I never needed lipstick to wear them. Obviously my lips aren’t as red as the pants but they didn’t look like death. I felt healthy and glowing in that bright red, the softer pink makes me look like a zombie by comparison!
I was nervous about switching to bright spring colours because what if I’m wrong? I’d be standing out while looking horrible. But I get sad without enough colour and no matter what I’ll look way better than I have been!!
This explodes my heart with joy!!!!! Thank you for making sure we're seen, sis
I'm so glad to have found this video! I'm not Black myself AND I'm a DW, meaning finding my season was very easy, but this is a real problem I see the Black women of the seasonal color analysis community struggle with.
I'm a brighter dark autumn or a neutral bright spring - I still don't know lol. But I've loved diving into colors
It was not until I heard you simplify this that I now understand. I couldn’t figure out if I was a dark autumn or dark winter. I have black brown hair black brown eyes neutral-warm bright skin. My skin is bright in comparison to my hair and eyes. With other videos I thought deep autumn but I feel washed out and now I see I could be a bright spring. 😅
so glad I could help! When in doubt, drape (although it sounds like you might have already figured it out).
Your videos are always informative and entertaining 😃 What brand of shoes are those yellow platforms at the end of the video? 😂
Have a great week 💯
thank you! lmaooooo I had to think of when I added yellow platforms at the end and then remembered I had the gif of Antonio Fargas' character from I'm Gonna Git You Sucka in there lmaooooo. I have these videos filmed and edited long before they actually go live lol.
I swear by the color wheell. I still can't figure out my season though. I think I am warm toned. But then sometimes I look better in neutral undertoned complexion products, so color me confused.
Okay, I got to run this back.
yasssss
I don't accept the traditional seasnonal analysis because it doesn't see nuance in our skin - according to that system, deep, warm skin can't be bright/intense. They also don't believe deep and cool skin can be muted. Seasons are cool buckets but they don't speak to specific traits or features so I highly recommend people just learn to look at their features specifically and find colors that suit those features.
I have transitioned from a True Winter to a Dark Summer (an in-between season between True Winter and True Summer). All my clothes are too dark and saturated now.
I just stumbled across your channel and immediately subscribed because you are so funny and informative!
Wow, thank you so much! Welcome! 💕
What if you’re cool toned but forest green looks good on you?
I’m having a hard time finding my season 😅
I’m feeling some genuine Gen X nostalgia 😄
I had a color analysis and i’m a jewel winter
I am a very pale skinned black woman (bordering white) but have medium to dark eyes and medium brown hair (with certain parts being lighter brown) I believe I am a light spring but I'm not too sure.
I swear it's still white people in the vids I'm recommended for colour analysis, lol, except for a few from Korea, but it's still usually fairer complexions.
ughhhh
Thank you for showing melanated people.
The lady at 6:17? What’s her seasons colour because she’s like me and I’m still confused babes
Hi. That lady is wearing pale purple/ lavender, which is in the summer palette/ season (cool toned, low contrast, soft colors suit them).
@@kitty_s23456 omg 😭😭😭😭 if I could send you money I would, thank you so much! It’s been months of trying to understand! 🙏 bless you!
@@tinaloye2014 I will accept PayPal. Haha. You're welcome, glad I could help! Go be a true summer, girl!, 💐 I suggest to download the true summer palette - I use the one from Dream Wardrobe.
This has been around 1900
I thought Rihanna was summer
While I found this video helpful I think that you rushed the information a bit (probably for those with the attention span of a gnat😂) Anyway is it at all possible that you could slow the information down a bit? Sis you know I love you but you can talk fast. Or do I just have to rewatch this video 100x😂
Rihanna is a soft summer, not soft autumn
3:09 she addresses her choices
