I just made some cornmeal porridge and followed your recipe but changed the milk for Almond Milk and it came perfect.
I'm a student and I live away from home and there are no Caribbean or West Indian Takeaways nearby so can't wait to try more of your recipes.
Thank you. x
Almond milk that's a great dairy free tip. Glad it was delicious. Thanks for watching!
This tastes just like home to me, thank you for sharing. I made this for my son this morning and he scraped his bowl clean. When a kid asks for seconds, you know you've done something right.
Thank you, thank you. A million times, thank you! I am a first generation Ja-American daughter of two very skilled native Jamaicans who cook very well. Finally, I could learn to make this without feeling totally inept! Kudos Mommie.

I would like to say thank you for your recipe. My son loves cornmeal porridge he is only 14.
I haven't cooked cornmeal porridge for nearly 30 years. I always brought it from the restaurant for my son. I decided I would try and make it after watching your video. I followed your recipe and I was so proud of the finish product. I had some and my son said it was better than the Jamaican restaurant. No lumps and I can truly say I loved it too.
Thank you again. Next meal is turn cornmeal. Please keep posting your delicious recipes 📫

I remember as a kid pouring milk over my porridge. My family likes to make it really thick. So the milk would pull over to the sides of the bowl. I scraping the sides of the bowl. The milk was nice and warm and at the bottom of my spoon was the corn porridge. Like a little treat. lol the things you remember as a kid.
My mom was leath with her Farina 🤣

You Ladies are so lovely, thank you for this recipe. You make me feel like my own grandma is teaching me, thank you
I'm so glad I found you. You videos are very special. Thanks
I'm so glad to have found this recipe. Im a full blooded Caribbean (Jamaican and Bahamian) but raised in the U.S. I haven't made or had cornmeal porridge in sooo long! My mom recently made me some and now Im hooked again! I followed this recipe to a T, but swapped the milk for almond and used powdered allspice. It was great. I would just suggest adding salt and allspice to taste. mine was a little bitter because of the two, so I continued adding milk and a little coconut (coffee) creamer (as a stand in for the sweet milk) and a tbs of raw sugar until I got the taste I wanted. Next time I'll do the spices to taste.
Thank you for showing me how to, because I've been pouring the cornmeal after milk boil. I always wonder how my Jamaican mother-in-law always make it so smooth. Love it and thank you again.
Love this recipe! You explained it so well!

My grandmother was from Dominican Repulic and some mornings we had corn meal, with almost everything you used. So delicious!
Never used pimento in cornmeal porridge before. That's interesting
🤯🤯🤯
Those seeds were allspice. Not pimento. ;-)
@@Pammellam in Jamaica, we call them pimento. In America, it's all spice.
