on the fridge did anyone else notice the magnet on mortys picture?
Nope

When beth goes to theorpy and cant cope as to how this boy disapeard
If Rick and Beth are evil, that would mean even Morty is evil, right?
I think they pulled a Schrodinger's Cat with Beth, She's both a clone and not a clone simultaneously, until they need her to be one or the other in a future episode.
Or just retcon
Best answer/theory on this topic yet
Oh my lord I’m writing this 2 years after you said that. Good job. You’re right
@@abhinavpandey2604 yeah he's a time traveler
U were close
ABC= A Beth Clone
omg...
Theory confirmed.
Morty's mindblower !!!!
Another Beth clone
The episode name is literally
A Beth Clone of Beth
Did anyone else catch the design and animation of Kiara mirroring the subconscious projection of Jerry's Beth in the marriage counseling episode? Elongated head, bloodthirsty mentality, phase shifting movements, and bonding to a much weaker male counterpart when a better match exists? Now that's one hell of a Callback.
YAS! First thing i thought when i saw Kiara
Rick explained that he stole those pizzas because the writers knew fans would theorize it to death otherwise.
No because they could get sued for copyright
Jeffrey Clarke how?
I luv school no it actually wasn’t because of that wtf. The op is correct. How about you look something up before assuming you’re correct
Outrun My Gun lol wtf copyright for time travel? That’s autistic

2:05 in this video 'head grows legs which walk it away' is inspired by John Carpenter's 1982 The Thing.
who else fast forwards past the quid add
Same lol
I do because they are too long and they do them pretty much every video
Nah its not even that long.
Yes.i did
I actually use quidd so no
This is like really minor but did a one else notice the galactic federation magnet on the fridge
yeeesss
Prob belongs to Jerry after the feds left earth
@@raresamaritan5627 probably
The kanji (Japanese symbol) on the back of Jerry's red robe means "weak". So many people missed that
So was I the only one who thought that alien in the restaurant was a reference to Men in Black?
i thought so too
@@housinengi9512 It's more a reference to Mass Effect videogames. The huntress is Liara/Samara and varics are similar to an orclike cannonfodder race that Salarians made called Vorcha.
Looks like it to me too
Beetlejuice did the draw-a-door thing way before Pan's labyrinth.
I kinda think Beth stayed. A cloned Beth with exactly the same memories wouldn't have been so optimistic in the end. I think the real Beth is optimistic because she decided to stay and discovered a bit about herself and her love for her kids. Or she's just a bitch who actually doesn't care and the clone needs to be happy to last or something. But I prefer the first interpretation.
when i watched the episode this is exactly how i felt, but all the theories since have made me question my original assertion. either way it doesn't matter, nothing is real... let's go play video games!
aka the letter j life is meaningless and death aprocahes
so let's all go and play video gamed
"A cloned Beth with exactly the same memories wouldn't have been so optimistic in the end. "
Yeah but a cloned or robot Beth with altered memories designed to suit Rick's purposes would. Remember we're dealing with the King of unreliable narrators here, Rick Sanchez. He alters people's memories just so they don't know he misspoke common expressions. He would have no reluctance to "tweak" Beth's personality.
okay, to the context of 'Beth stayed', people in the Beth-clone camp keep using the same argument, that her personality is different in the pizza scene, but in Rick's Copy Monologue he mentions that either way she will 'chill out' because she has the choice in her hands for once. well, if she decided to stay, she would be acting different as she begins to accept the Rick part of herself and the condition of her path unfolding.
Carlos Rodriguez I don't know because she seemed kinda weird when rick went through the portal to get pizza
I dont know if anyone else thought that
The chalk door could've been from beetlejuice
The U-To box also contains the mind eraser gun from the last episode.
ALSO when they find the aliens in the cave the alien says their "nesting" referring to the Microverse episode "Oh la la"
The alien head growing legs I think is more of a easter egg from John Carpenter's The Thing
I was about to say this!
Same
yup. this scene.

theSurealOne yap that's the one
theSurealOne Don't worry, I wasn't planning on sleeping this week and *definitely* didn't purposefully suppress the memory of that scene...
Nope. Not at all. :P
The three breasts is a reference to hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Total recall took it from there too
There is a Simple Rick's box in Rick's box
Deus ex machina is Latin for "God from a machine"... The old plays, before tragedies like Shakespeare, solved the issue of characters finding themselves in impossible situations with certain death by simply having the character God come down onto the set and saving them.
In this way, God was lowered onto the stage by a crane, a machine... God from a machine.
In my understanding it translates to "Act of God"
The ultimate God from the Machine was used in Toy Story 3. The Claw worshipped as a god, came down and saved the toys.
@micky2be, "machina" is definitely Latin for "machine"... It actually originates in Greek where theatre originated. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/machina
However, in the scene... that's the general description of what was happening. In the play, there was an "act of God" and they were saved. It's just that with the way God was portrayed coming down from heaven to save them, thus being lowered onto the set, they had to have God lowered onto the stage by a machine.
Looks like when rick gets the box of waffles out of the cupboard he gets a pink waffle that looks like the simple ricks bar from the ricklantis mix up episode.
Loaf I noticed that as well....
Tora Kincaid
Ah ya know I just rewatched the episode and it looks like he eats a few biscuits and then hands Beth the pink chalk to draw the portal. So no simple rick just a pink chalk. Ah well ya win some ya lose some. Still awesome
I think they have missed the reference to Mass Effect’s Liara, who is a telekinetic blue Asari. They were hyper sexualized, blue in color, and were also had warriors in their race.
I don't want this to end
elr4f4 same
well there is season four and might be more then 10 episodes i hope so
Housin Engi yeah
In 2020
at least its something they could had just said there be no season 4 or 5 and just cut it off from there on season 3
If beth were somehow given Rick's intellect or some supernatural power (alluding to the goddess version of Beth that Jerry made), she could possibly be way more destructive since she is kind of unstable in some regards, while Rick in a lot more tired and somewhat bored to see the point in only destroying for fun (alluding to him being reluctant to torture that creature in "Morty's Mind Blowers" and finding the purge world gratuitous)
One detail I picked up on that I don't necessarily think was meant to be a hidden detail is when Summer brings up Jerry's long Facebook post. I immediately thought back to 1x03, the Christmas episode, where Jerry threatens to join Facebook if Summer doesn't give him her phone. It would seem that Jerry ended up starting a Facebook account between these episodes at any point.
Attention to detail
Except it's not the same Jerry.
in this universe jerry did joing face book so the episode went down differntly a bit
since in the interdimension cable two he only really responded on a youtube video by a comment by a troll
Why does no one mention the RAINBOW DUCT TAPE!
I know, right?
How is it significant?
Matthew Delianov its not but ive seen five videos and no one has pointed it out
My Name Is Jaeden Weird.
@My Name Is Jaeden Maybe because it's not important? That's the least threatening object in the list.
I was wondering if I was the only one who got the Chalk Zone reference.
Yeah but Beetlejuice did it first
Was hoping it was a Sarah Chalke reference
Is Rick warming up to Jerry?
i think he was just sugarcoating the fact that he fucked jerrys ex
Yes, they spent 1000 lifetimes together in the Whirly Dirly Conspiracy weirdness segment.
As Tyrone mentioned, they did spend 1000 lifetimes together, and that episode ended with Rick showing Jerry a small amount of respect. It's possible that Rick has warmed up to him, but I also think he's still a bit of a dick to him out of habit.
rick said jerry's ass from an alien killer
am I the only one who thinks the whole point of beths decision left like that is because in the end it doesnt matter?
Good things pass so quickly.
3:18 seems like a Arrested Development call back from Tobias
When rick mentions Beth's mother.. it makes me want to have an episode dedicated just to her.. the woman that rick fell for..
"Born to Stab!"
Great rundown, Thanks
I want Beth to get her own portal gun and become "the next generation Rick".
Her adventure buddy can be Jerry (and sometimes Jessica, which leads Jessica to understand Morty better and thus bring them steadily closer).
Also would be cool to see the different multiverse versions of Beth. Maybe there would eventually come to be a Citadel of Beths.
Deus ex Machina is Latin but the original phrase is the Greek 'theos ek mēkhanēs' so I can see your confusion.
Someone may have mentioned this already, but I think the decapitated head turned into the spider-like head from John Carpenter's The Thing, starring Kurt Russell, Keith David & A. Wilford Brimley. The character Norris, played by Charles Hallahan, was discovered to be a Thing copy of him. The head separated from the body oon attempt to escape destruction. That movie had some of the greatest practical special effects in movie history.
08:45 - when Rick is strumming on his guitar, one of the variations he sings of “Doo-doo butt” sounds, melodically, like the opening 3 notes of “Yesterday"
I've been waiting on this video.✊🏽
Didn't talk about the fact Rick lost his arm and replaced it with a "stick on" metal 1.
Revilo Gaming I kind of wonder if he lost his leg would he just slap it on there and it would imitate a leg instead?
Joe Ray but we also know he’s not cybernetic because of the toxic episode
At what point did he restore his human arm?
I think 2:06 is a reference to the famous scene from The Thing
If Beth decided to leave, and the clone would have the same memories... that would mean the same memories and and experiences that drove Beth to leave would also be in the clone so the clone would also want to leave.
Therefore I think Beth stayed
Logic wins!
" and the clone would have the same memories"
The clone has the memories that Rick wants it to have. Which by definition means it doesn't have memories that make it want to leave.
LOL "BETH STAYED" PEOPLE ARE DELUSIONAL. SHE IS HER FATHER'S DAUGHTER
.... and rick is there now. yes he left beth and caused her abandonment issues..... so maybe thats why she decided to stay. what if rick did make a clone..... and the clone is the one who left?
cyanideonyx that makes no sense, the purpose of the clone is to substitute Beth if she leaves, so she has the freedom to go away without worry for her family and without consequences or explanations when or if she decides to return.
why would rick build a clone if Beth chooses not to leave, her leaving is the only reason that a clone would be built.
Great video
great video
The ray gun from zombies goddamnit NOTICE IT
Boi Boi Naw its from ever single sifi movie there is
Nice content
1. She's a clone
2. Real Beth comes back when Rick encounters Evil Morty
3. Beth gets captured by Evil Morty
4. Jaguar saves the day
end :)
ive been waiting all week for this video lol.
I Believe she Is a clone but she will come back
I don't know why but I always get so excited to watch these.
11:16 *W H A T .*
good job guys!!!
11:47 damn it that friends moment hits me right in the feels
So couls there be a Citadel of beths?
great episode
One Beth is a clone?
Who's here watching this after season 4 finale?
The entire episode has a feeling of Jurassic Park with creatures being abandoned and revisited while they have become monsters
"Biologically speaking the butt is a nut" is how the line goes and it pertains to either a testicle or splooge!
That comment about Jerry being the grazing animal reminds me a lot of the Whirly Dirly Conspiracy, where that weird drug-trip sequence showed Jerry as an animal being pounced on and subdued by Rick.
"Jerry is the grazing animal" could be a connection to the more visual way they put it when Rick and Jerry had that weird wormhole thing. Where a gazelle Jerry is hunted by a Lion rick
Only just realised that Rick pulls out a Ray-gun from COD in the box of young Beth's toys
When the head of the monsters grows legs and crawls away it is a reference to “The Thing”
How's they miss the Mr meeseeks reference???
9:50 why does the magnet holding morty's photo look so familiar?? Can someone tell me where have I seen that M before?
Even back then he’s been reaching for content 😂
The chalk that Rick uses might also be a reference to an old children's book called "Harold and the Purple Crayon" by Crocket Johnson. It's book That inspired me to draw and it was the first thing I thought about when watching that scene.
Is it possible the switchblade is a reference to the Saika from the anime Durarara? I know it may not be common for the writers of RnM to reference anime as much as other media, but I really do see this "character" in the switchblade, particularly in the little dialog "it" has.
I didn't rothey had actual children be the voices of the kids who performed the play that is insane and it blew my mind
@2:05 Isn't the head growing legs more like from the movie The Thing from 1982?
Here's my take.... I don't think Beth is a clone. In little Rick, they proved that clones weren't stable at all and in constant pain. I believe that Beth is from another alternate universe where she was posed the same question and said that she wanted to stay. As Rick says, it comes to that question in all universes eventually (Proved there's a rick and she's not maimed somehow) We know how quickly he can replace people. So I think that the original Beth left and an alternative took her place.
On the Chalk door item, BeetleJuice (1988?) used one before Pan's Labyrinth.
I think the head splitting off into a spider is more of a reference to The Thing, in which the alien being commandeers any organic material to spread. At one point to escape the being separates the head from a body to escape, the head breaks off and becomes a spider in a very similar way.
Minor detail, but the sword Morty was holding at 04:58 is the iron sword from Skyrim.
I love this episode of news rockstar and rick and Morty
TheDBZfan02 me too!
Pan's Labrynth? No way. Beetlejuice! "Draw a door".
What's the series at 11:48?
The bubble that Rick uses to make the kids travel, could be a Disney's Meet the Robinsons petray on the fact that they travel by bubbles in the movie
this is my favorite episode, i love beth sm
When the segment for quidd was going on a notification of quidd popped up on my phone
Froopy land is a lot like the Land of a Thousand Fables from The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine DLC! Where a master illusionist creates a realm of all the famous fairy tales, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Billy Goats Gruff etc. for a young duchess and her sister to play around in. But when the duchess and her sister grow up and abandon the realm, it all goes to shit! Rapunzel hangs her self with her own hair, Jack is baked in an oven by a witch, Little Red drowned in a well etc. etc. The parallels between Froopy land and the Fablesphere from The Witcher 3 are uncanny! I imagine Justin Roiland played the Blood and Wine DLC and thought it'd make a great Rick and Morty episode!
When the predator-esque monster that Kiara hunts turns into a crawling head, it mimics the Head-Spider from John Carpenter’s “The Thing”.
Where’s Paul puidershmit from Mortynight run? He said that Beth remarried?
wanted to know if these references are confirmed somewhere or a bunch of suppositions of each person..because the woman of 3 boobs for me was a reference to the warrior alien from the cover of history in paul
What’s the funniest about the life finds away is that Jurassic Park is Rick’s favorite movie
1:16 Beetlejuice did it first... :P
I don't know why, but I get excited when its zoom and enhance.
I don't have any better reason for thinking this than, "Beth seemed a bit too chill and relaxed," but I really do think she is a clone.
well rick gave her an optiion ether be like the other hers or be herself and leave for a whie
could be she felt free at last, since she has a choice now, to leave when ever she feels to without losing her family and job.
I'm sure that if she didn't leave, she will end up leaving even if only for a while to have a try on different lives.
She didn't bat an eye when Morty told her jerry was banging an alien.
Good point. I think not-clone Beth would have rolled her eyes, sighed in exasperation, or something. Nothing too outlandish, but *something*, right?
True but Rick did say it was a win for him no matter what Beth decided because either way Beth would chill out
I appreciate this episode answering my question of, "Why were there no Beths on the citadel?" It's obvious there would be a lot of Mortys and Ricks are a given, but the lack of any Summers or Beths seemed a bit unlikely, given Rick said as a daughter of a Rick Beth, "Had options." Summer accompanying Rick and Morty semi-regularly, having no qualms with violence, and being generally a less independent, more compliant option than a Rick seems like an obvious choice for a security drone, or soldier.
The first thing Rick pulls out of the things he had to make for Beth, the "Ray Gun", looks similar to the Ray Gun from Call of Duty: Zombies
Just followed @eavoss
The chalk door could also represent that scene from BeetleJuice
BeetleJuice BeetleJuice got ya
What is the symbol on the magnet holding up the picture of Snowball and Morty on the fridge
They also referenced jump the shark and troy mentioned how fonzie did it in happy days in “community” also created by dan Harmon.......
Has everyone forgotten about *Harold and the Purple Crayon?* I've seen lots of mention of Pan's Labrynth and ChalkZone, simply because both use chalk, but neither of those stories were the first to use a writing implement like chalk to open a door to another world, or a world of imagination. ChalkZone was almost certainly likely to have been influenced by Harold and the Purple Crayon. Beth's chalk stick is also *purple.* There's also a popular Japanese tale that has been translated into English that is occasionally assigned as reading in a lot of schools. It is by Kobo Abe called *The Magic Chalk* which is about a starving artist who discovers a magic piece of chalk that can turn drawings real, so he begins drawing food to feed himself. There's also a Norwegian story by the same title (or Trollkritan in Norwegian) which is about a boy who finds some magic chalk that first brings to life a stick figure, then opens a door to a make believe world full of magic and talking animals, and interestingly enough, focuses a lot on the *alphabet.* in this land the boy and his stick figure friend meet all kinds of talking animals that can only speak words beginning with the same letter as their name (I.e. all alligators say words beginning with a) and a witch who made them animal cookies for each letter of the *alphabet* so here we have two huge connections to the episode the *ABC'S* of Beth and Trollkritan (The Magic Chalk).
I always thought that Rick randomizing the Beths is his most fatherly thing he ever has done......
Actually Thomas Kyd " the spanish tragedy" did the play within the play thing first. Its the basis for Hamlet aswell.
I think she really thought things through and realised her life for what it was and how to be happy in her sadness like rick
Oh Mr Voss you look soooo diff from 3 years ago keep up the great work
Under the Influence: The chalk door to Froopyland may also reference the Twilight Zone episode "Little Girl Lost".
I can collect stickers for free and text them to people? OMFG THATS SO USEFUL .. LEMME JUST PUT THIS GUN IN MY MOUTH AND *POST*
The chalk door is a Beetlejuice reference. The writers are in their thirties and forties. They remember Beetlejuice.
