Sound on! I have taken a new spy video of the next super sedan BMW M5 during some hot laps on the Nürburgring.
This is the latest and most revealing spy video of the next gen BMW M5 launching in 2024 with a plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain to rival the Mercedes-AMG E63 and Audi RS6, both of which are set to become PHEVs in future iterations. The BMW M5 will arrive with a plug-in hybrid powertrain derived from the XM SUV.

This will be an amazing car, as are it’s peers but with every new gen, I always think of the older models having more spirit. With the newer cars you as a driver, you have become a passenger. Not so with the older cars. M5CS is an exception. What a machine that is.

It’s probably going to be much heavier. However, the M5 in all generations was never meant to be a dedicated trackcar. It’s mostly a well rounded luxo-barge and autobahn missile. Also, it looks like they are still fine tuning the spring and dampening rate hence the bounce.

@@_IMNNOyou are spot on. I don’t know why people want the m5 to be light. Obviously the lighter the better but after all it’s always been a luxury sedan with 5 seats. How the hell can they make a comfortable luxurious 5 seaters light.
Hybridation will make it heavier but it will also be more powerful so I’m sure it will still fill its duty in the end.

Handles pretty well for weighing more than 2.1 tons. It could use shome stiffer dampers.
I can only see almost 3 tons moving there.

Didn't someone say the new-gen M5 would be offered as both an ICE (hybrid model) and a full EV, or did I hear wrong, I read an article that says the first M EV won't be here until 2027

Why did this "amazing" new M5 coming from BMW get passed on the circuit by a relatively ordinary 911? Reminds me of the big hype when the F10 M5 was being introduced...turned out to be a big dud; perhaps history is going to repeat itself.
V8 Biturbo luxury saloon va dedicated sports car. The M5 is not for the track, the m2, m3 and m4 are. Especially the M4 CSL, which gave the 911 a run for its money.
