I loved this car from the jump to be honest. My only gripe is that wait. I wish they just used lighter and possibly weaker batteries and just tune up the S68. Assuming the S68 is the same as it's predecessor (S63) it alone should be able to handle 727hp and 1000nm of torque. But hey I'm not the expert
I like the way it looks, just not sure about the performance. It looks like your intakes and turbo inlets might work… it looks like the same design language as the S63
It's really finding out how much the trans can hold. The G90 v8 should be able to put out 700hp on its own and with the additional 200hp from the electric motor.
Ok, kinda like the design look, but still holding back until real world testing is done. I would rather have all motor with a turbo/supercharger. Not crazy about the additional weight of battery and electric motor which raises more maintenance/repair/replacement/cost concerns. We'll see.

Was at FOS today (Thursday).. sat in the black M5.. lovely interior seats but other than that didn't feel special enough.. would definitely opt for that Yellow paint work. Keep up the great work guys!

I know this is an impossible ask, but it's too bad BMW couldn't have followed suit with the new 992.2 Porsche 911 and their hybrid drivetrain. Lightweight, no charging and most importantly only 50KG weight gain. I do like the look of the new M5, but I the M3 Touring is still the sweet spot in the M line up.
This is the first M5 I really find disappointing. I was sad when the F10 came out (and the engine sounded rubbish, albeit potent), but it looked handsome. The F90 was a good looking car and performance was stonking, but again, the engine was a little dull in character. This is just absolutely ridiculous, it weighs so much!
M5500, 550 just wasn't enough so they got M to stick another 5 in front of it. My guess is they kept the theme going with 5500 M logos, because hey, this is the new M!

I will admit that the new M5 is quite a bit better looking than I had expected (not withstanding the ridiculous "air inlets" on the front end). Although, after seeing the Fcuking Monstrosity, otherwise known as XM, and some of the other steaming turds that have been excreted by BMW's design department, the bar was low. The weight of the M5 is inexcusable. There is simply no justification for 5390 lb weight, particularly since the car grew in weight by more than 1000 lbs compared to the previous model. Even weighing 5390 lbs, the car better be quick, since it has 727 HP. This car confirms to me that both BMW in general and the M division in particular have completely lost their collective minds. The director of the M division (the guy who was talking in the video) was proud that the XM was the first vehicle to be designed by the M division since the M1. That is not something to be proud of. He should be ashamed to have squandered resources to produce such a hideous and pointless vehicle, rather than to have developed a new halo car that could and should have been called the M1. You don't feel the weight only feels slightly heavier from the F90.
Active steering was available in the ninenties on the E31, called Aktive Hinterachskinematik (AHK)

Of course everyone is talking about the (heavy)weight of the M5, what really annoys me is the design that comes with it. Just look how high the headlights are placed, looks like a family van.

I don't get all the weight complaint. Batteries weigh a lot - so what. Electrification works - so what. Some people are trapped in their time and refuse to adapt. Why not demand REAL horsepower while you're at it? Demand M-carriages with M horses, eh?

Not really it's the same recipe as the GTR... the designer of the GTR actually wanted it to be heavy

Yes, if that's true, the designer WANTED it to be heavy, so the weight was taken into consideration while developing the gtr.
On this M5, the weight was a sub-product of the batteries. It was not taken into consideration. Please don't believe their marketing bs.
They were forced to put batteries in the car as a transition towards full EV
@Enigmaception I don't believe the marketing bs... the facts are the facts... at the end of the day, while developing this m5, they knew it was going to be a hybrid and the accounted for it... all modern cars are heavy with all of the tech they put in... the new amg gt is heavy... all the bmws are infact heavy.. hybrid or not

So let me get this right. The new M5 is now way heavier, less nimble, and slower. It is also more complex (thus more things that can break), AND it will cost more?
