In this CNC Q5 Tattoo Machine Review we dive into the heart and soul of the CNC Q5 Grenade!

Upon using the CNC Q5 I noticed that it has a nice amount of give to it that makes the machine feel almost brush like when I am pushing my 03RL in the lower 5 volt range. I personally love this give system as it gives me so much more time on human skin when I am stipple shading, resulting in a much smoother and cleaner transition with no trauma to the skin.
I give the CNC Q5 a 5 out of 5 stars and a 2 thumbs and here is why.
The Q5 is super easy to maintain & sterilize after using which is something I personally love about the Q series tattoo machines by CNC. Along with the easy to maintain & sterilize approach the Q5 offers a powerful motor that is designed for shading specific, so those whom are looking for a new machine dedicated to shading, the Q5 is the way to go! I also give the Q5 a 2 thumbs up and 5 stars because of the simplistic build and not to mention it is compatible with all major needle cartridges on the market.

hey man for how long have u been using the q5? hows its going now? im having a hard time deciding between the q5 and the bronc v2 wireless
Noticed plenty mention of Q1,Q2,Q5 but no mention of that Q3 as a go to for lining or shading lol..yep😏 Salute to the platform💪🙏💯
I can understand the logic behind the comment.
Furthermore the Q3 is a great machine as well. My Q3 is still pushing perfectly fine but the Q3 is also the machine I have the least experience with which is why I don't naturally speak about it in a way you may want. That is not to reflect or have anything to do with the machine but everything to do with personal preference. For me personally I have been using the Q1 A LOT lately as that machine particular has always interested me.
I will bring more videos with me using all of the machines I personally like ranging from the Q1, Q2, Q3, Q5, WE, and more! Upon this journey I will use the Q3 more and as I have more experience with it I will talk more about it.

Ive been using a Q2 for about a year, I love it. I did have an issue with the rod on the motor but the company was quick to send me out a replacement part.
I personally LOVE the Q2 and if i am correct I have had it about a year or so give or take. Recently all I have been using is the Q1 and that machine is growing on me.
I also love the customer service CNC provides. I have never had an issue with their customer service.
What type of work do you do with the Q2?
Michael James I'm pretty sure the pushrod breaking off the cam happens alot to these Hawink CNC machines.. it happened with my Q3 pill machine a few days after I got it. I contacted Solongtattoo.com & they sent another but while waiting I put a dab of JB Weld on my broken one & the shit is still holding a year later. Then I found a Q1 on eBay for $50 with the same issue, so I snatched it up & fixed that one too. They also sell new cam wheel/Pushbars on AliExpress. Minus that flaw, they're great machines.
@@graffics7665 LOL thats exactly what I did, I dropped a dab of Gorilla glue on and its held up perfectly. I use a Q2 and Q5 so I keep the replacement part on the side just in case since the first break happened during a tattoo session. CNC also has the replacement on their site for $18 I think.
@@michaeljames9333 it just seemed like an easy fix but I'm not passing up the extra cam either because they shouldn't break that easy. I did see they had 3, 3.5 & 4mm cams on the CNC website. I actually ordered one of the Ambition tattoo machine 4mm cams for my Ambition machine & it fits the CNC Q series machines too. The only thing about that is I had to bend a pushbar by clipping a standard needle bar & bending it using two pair of needle nose pliers, but it took a few tries to make a good one.
Do you use your Q5 strictly for shading? I have one also but mainly use my Q3. I would like to get some work in with the grenade since it seems to run so smooth, I just gotta get the feel for it.
Would you recommend trying a 3.0mm cam for fine shading with this vs the stock 3.5 if i order it?
Can I still do lines with this machine? And if yes, can yoi give me some tips and how to do good lines with the q5

Hey Daniel, my names Daniel too. Great videos man. I recently subscribed to you. Been tattooing a few years but always looking for tips from other artists. I actually found you from reading your comment on That Tattoo Guys review of CNC tattoo machines. I’ve seen them advertised here and there and I REALLY want to get a pen style machine with batteries. I currently use a Inkjecta flite nano and it’s a boss, but I really want to try a pen style without spending 900 on a bishop. What are your thoughts? I do a lot of Chicano black and grey stuff, custom script and recently bold line stuff with stipple shading. I would greatly appreciate your input on CNC and what pen you think would do me justice. Thanks bro! I hope to hear back.
And I got a question cuz I can’t line like I can with a coil is there any tips to the needle cartridges? Like a certain way they work I don’t get it and see some

Following I got the cnc q2 and I feel
Like my battery is too weak like just ordered the dragonhawk x5 so the cnc q2 is a brushed 3.5mm and the dragonhawk is a 4mm and it’s a brushless motor so it here both direct drive I’ll tell ya the differences I notice I hope it helps you narrow down your choices
Is it brushed motors do more torque but need more power idk I know for rc cars the difference but idk on rotary machines I would assume brushless is better but brushed motors are kinda stronger in the low range of it working idk if that’s true. It with rc cars it kinda is haha
Question on the Rhein sterile EO being RED?
Ahh This is a great question! I have also asked RHEIN directly about the blue and red EO dots.
The red & blue dots is essentially an indicator that the needles have gone through the sterilization process. These colors are a good sign and to confirm show that the needles have gone through a sterilization process.
I used to think that the red dot was a sign that the needles were bad or not sterilized haha but that is not the case.
When the packaging is broken/torn open and the needles were exposed prior to you opening them that is when I would not use the needles and contact the manufacturer.
Do you use RHEIN needles?
@@DanielYuck yes. I got RS/RL and some mags. The RS and RL have blue marks and the mag was red. Idk how comfortable I am using them on people.
I might just use them to practice.
Liner,shading color pack as well not only for shading 😏
Can i use this for lining? Or is it exclusively for shading?
I think because of the stroke, it's best for shading because it's so soft
I line and shade with this machine, with my hand speed I’m at about 8-8.5 volts for lining.
it has a 3.2mm stroke thats why it is good in shading.correct me im wrong.thanks.

looks like u play off the needle when using the magnum ,how do u do that by noise or feel
I do personally prefer to use the tips of my needles as I can get more accurate.
Playing off of the tips of my needles is more of a natural combination of keeping my eyes on my area at hand and using my hands to feel for certain vibrations.
It is a natural and instant response upon tattooing as I see and feel in unison. These variables allow me to use the tips of my needles and having a certain level of confidence plays a big role as well. If I don't have enough confidence I won't apply the tattoo as best as I can. If I have too much confidence I will be more prone to blowing the tattoo out.

I been running mine with the illusionist, pers like a kitten.. just throw it in a sandwich bag and rip for hours..
Biggest problem with CNC is the cams, the designs are great the motors are good but they cheap out on the cam, if they just make a good cam with a counter weight all their machines would be the best
