🧧Keto Chinese Smiling Sesame Cookie Balls (笑口棗) For Lunar New Year 😃

  • Celebrate lunar new year with keto sesame smiling cookie balls! This original keto version have the texture and taste of the original ones: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a hint of sesame flavour from the roasted sesame seeds. If you can not buy already roasted sesame seeds, roast them yourself in a pan until aromatic on low heat.
    Tip: Do not store it in an airtight container, it will not stay crispy. If the cookies lose crispiness, simply deep fry it in avocado oil to bring it back to life and let cool completely.
    You can also add this extra step when making the cookies to get it closer to the original version.
    You CAN NOT skip the baking step before deep frying. The dough will not hold it’s shape and will dissolve in the oil.

      Not sure where you live, but you can buy it on Amazon or probably a local health food shop. There are many brands to choose from.

      If you can’t find any egg yolk powder on Amazon, you can use more almond flour. It won’t taste as good and colour will not be as nice, but it will still work.

      @@KetoAsianFlavours update! It worked! Although the consistency is a bit off (dense) from what I am used to, I got each of them to crack a smile! I used a small whole egg, about a cup and a half almond flour, and added about an extra tablespoon powdered erythritol. Flavor is not bad, but I wonder if a little butter will help with the flavor and texture?
      Anyway, it was a great experiment and glad I did it. Thank you Anne and 新年快乐!! 🎆🎊🧧🐯
