I believe we experience a lot of fear that we will be in pain the rest of our lives, and that we have lost our purpose for this life.
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope my content can be helpful.
So true
Totally agree that fear is the no 1 driver. Fear for me comes from doubt. Were we 100% theres no tissue damage we d get better fast. My numb burning feet / legs are mine. Odd. Goes away at night. Cant see anything. Im actually going to a neurologist Wed at 9. We ll see
Fear=doubt=more fear which drives symptoms
@@tominnc315 I've had that - and it went mostly away when I had a period of low stress and a lot of joy. My doctor terrified me, told me it was nerve damage called "neuropathy" and incurable. She nearly fainted when she saw my slim healthy white feet and I could wear ballet flats my size after decades in Ronald McDonald shoes 3 sizes too large because of the pain! You're on the right track, Tominnc and you're right - fear DOES drive the pain, and focusing on the symptoms makes them even worse.
I am 58 yrs old. Diagnosed with Fibro/cfs at 24 years old. There are so many health issues, osteoarthritis that is in my feet, knees, spine, shoulders ,and hands. I've had fusion of my foot and 2 level fusion of my cervical spine. I am so afraid of further injury to my neck as I am high risk for revision surgery. Im on the muscle relaxer tizanidine, gabapentin, tramadol, and antidepressants as you can imagine. I am in a constant fog and exhaustion. I am just existing in this broken medical system. I have structural reasons for pain, but now ,after watching Dr. Shubiner and Dr. David Hanscom videos, I have hope that some of my pain can be reduced or eliminated. I am beginning this process and hoping for positive changes. Instead of angrily hurting myself further out of frustration of how my body is my enemy, my prison in mind and body.....I have to shift my thinking. Thank you for your videos. I really identified with this one.
Pain free you/youtube is a good one too
Yes Dan buglio x
I"m so glad my videos have been helpful. So sorry to hear what you have been through, but it is great you are starting to utilize a mind-body approach.
It’s such a relief to hear I’m not the only one who obsesses over pain. Telling my partner. He’s tries his best to help me, but getting getting really tired of it.
I'm so sorry to hear what you are dealing with. I hope my content can be helpful!
Yes. I’m finding it’s helping a lot.
Fear that i"ll never get out of this pain and loss of sleep cycle, and won't be able to continue to do the work I love and achieve my goals. Tanner, you have extremely good insights. I wouldn't have thought to break my fears down into categories like you did . Thank you , as always.
I'm so glad this was useful. Keep going!
C-PTSD, all from fear since age 5 ..finally knowledge about all this and a way out...huge ty❤🎉
So sorry to hear about your trauma. I hope my content can be helpful for you. Keep going!
I was angry at the doctors who pushed benzos when I said I didn't want them, and those who continued to prescribe them for years when they're only safe for 2 weeks. But holding on to anger only causes inflammation, so I tried to release it through journaling and through dancing. I love what you said about giving yourself love and compassion - they both seem to drive out fear and unhelpful repetitive anger. (Turning anger into action helped too - informing people of the harms of benzos and writing about it helped other people avoid the suffering I endured.)
I'm so glad you found ways to release it. Love and compassion were key for my own journey!
I can’t let go because the people who hurt others never seem to get held accountable
@@TheUsername55555100I understand your anger and sympathize. I found radical acceptance helpful when there are problems that cannot be resolved, and doing things that gave me joy. That gave my nervous system a break - and me some pleasure and relaxation.
Very interesting 😮. Thanks . Better understanding about Bensos. 😮
@@cathyjennings5580 I'm glad I was informative. They're horrible drugs, as addictive as heroin and harder to quit, as withdrawals can be prolonged. There are other better and healthier ways to manage pain, insomnia, or anxiety - and somatic tracking is one of the best!
I feared that I caused my chronic pain. I was overweight plus I fell down some stairs. Realizing the pain wasn’t going to kill me allowed me to get on with my life and see things more clearly.
I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. Please keep going!
U described me obsessed about the pain, all day all night,
I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope my content can be helpful.
Thanks for those tips Tanner; this is so an helpful summary of the type of fears that perpetuates the symptoms; I will re-watch this video in the next few days as I feel fear is what is holding me back at the moment.
I'm so glad it was useful. Keep going!
I do all of the above. Suffered anxiety and trauma since a child. I am now 56. Last four years had covid moved twice in one year. My last child moved out so became an empty nester. Been through menopause and have changed my job recently after 7 years. On top of that had a lot of stress with my grown children. I’m at a really bad point and tremble and am dizzy 24/7. I feel the need to help everyone and if I can’t I feel powerless. I’ve had many tests and nothing found. As I am writing this I’m starting to think it’s no wonder I feel absolutely awful. I have always studied the mind body approach but lost some knowledge along the way. Thanks for your channel I have only just discovered it x
I'm so sorry to hear what you have been through. I hope my content can be helpful.
Hi , I think this was made for me to hear as absolutely everything you said is 100% me the last almost 7 years except I’m thinking of my pain almost constantly ! Due to the damage that a forced benzo wd did on my CNS because they down regulated my gaba receptors it’s like a runaway train but I can feel calm at times but my brain is working overtime I know I can heal it’s the stuck loop in my brain that I need to break ! Thank you for your very informative videos that give me the hope I’ve been needing for so long 🦋
Benzo withdrawal can be brutal! I hear you - I too was cold-turkeyed, which exacerbates withdrawal symptoms. But I still recovered by 80% from 5 supposedly "incurable" diseases, and got my life back. A ton of inescapable stresses led to a fibro relapse (why the meds were prescribed in the first place) but I'm still thrilled I'm no longer taking benzos (or any medication). Finding alternative ways to heal has proven to be much more beneficial. We DO heal - and we can empower ourselves by taking action to help ourselves heal - and this is a wonderful place to learn more to do that. Thanks, Tanner, another helpful video!
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope my content can be helpful!
You broke this subject down so simply thank you! I am have overcome chronic pain with mind-body techniques but now have a chronic skin condition. Derms are unsure but think it may be a severe form of rosacea or lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei. Both misunderstood skin conditions that are labeled chronic. I find myself in the obsession/judgement phases you mentioned. I eat very healthy but many people online recommend elimination diets, this never worked for me in the past but my fear brain becomes obsessed with the idea of food causing my condition. We all just want to take the best possible care for ourselves.
So sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope my content can be helpful!
Any information on dealing with tinnitus, thank you. Love your videos.
I will try to do a video on this in the future!
One fear is ending up dependent on a husband who is manic depressive, if I continue to have severe pain. He is not and won't be of much help.
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through.
Oh, Tanner, this video was so very, very informative and helpful!! Man, it’s so good, dead-on, perfect!! Thank you, Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Tanner - once again an awesome extremely helpful video. Could you point me in the right direction of a video that explains what to do in this scenario? So I have all the fear mentioned in this video and I find myself obsessing a lot - focusing on the sensation and when I actively try to shift my focus onto a pleasant sensation I feel myself pulled back to the ‘painful one’ with a lot of sadness/despair attached. Like the emotion is holding onto the pain saying “ we won’t get better it’s too hard etc” . Is this just a practice thing? Meaning if I just acknowledge the feeling then give messages of safety when this happens and keep re-directing and shifting my focus to positive - it will in time get easier? Or do I have to sit with the emotion of sadness for a while?
Sorry to hear what you are dealing with. Yes, this takes time consistently doing brain retraining, but also learning to process the emotions underneath. Here is a video on the 3R skill: czcams.com/video/r8ApIWMxAvU/video.html
I always think worst case scenario… and I think I have a lot of associations that have become so ingrained.
So sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope my content can be helpful in breaking these associations. Check out my video posted last week on breaking the rules/conditioned responses.
@@painpsychotherapy Thank you. I will. ❤️
I’m dealing with all these types of fears and constant chronic pains 😞
So sorry to hear what you are going through. I hope my content can be helpful.
I have a lot of fear due to not knowing what I’m supposed to do. I’m stuck in a loop and see no way out at present. I’ve heard such conflicting things from TMS therapists - some say that frustration will make symptoms worse, others say that repressed frustration will make it worse too!
So when I feel frustrated i’m also deeply scared because I don’t know how to proceed. I don’t want to suppress anything, and just want my body to calm down. I don’t know if I should be ‘leaning into’ the frustration or ignoring it. I wonder if anyone else struggles with this? It’s really debilitating.
This is a common issue that gets confused. Often I find the frustration, grief, or other difficult emotions need to be processed before we can cultivate a light and easy attitude with the symptom. I will do a video on this soon!
@@painpsychotherapy that would be amazing. Thanks so much!
Face your FEARS OF DISCOMFORTS. GRUMPY CRANKY EMOTIONS. 😮😮
Negative method. Vs. POSITIVE methods. Time management disorder FEARS. PEOPLE get SO MAD at the persons disrespecting behaviors always LATE 😮😮😮😢😢😢. SYMPTOMS. DISPAIR RESULTS 😢😢 MISERY.😢😢
WE CAN'T CHANGE the bad behavior. Miserably. Disability results. 😢😢😢😢😢 Weakness. 😮😢 FEARS.
So sorry to hear what you are going through.
Where is good place to start if you are doing all of these?
Somatic tracking and messages of safety are a great place to start!
How do I not see the pain as the enemy? Its ruined my whole life and taken everything from me.
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through this. I will try to make a video on this in the future.
@@painpsychotherapy hi, th am you. I was a capable 28 year old when I got chronic pain, it’s taken every second and every opportunity since. I’m now 40. The opportunities for a healthy 28 yr old are very different from a 40 year old woman at the best of times. I’m struggling to adapt to the life pain has left me with and what I have lost… which gives me more pain! It would be helpful to know how not to hate this mechanism of destruction, which is the reality of what it has been to me whatever the neuroscience is. Thanks x
Tanner, what if you have real swelling in the part of your body that is in pain.
It is of course good to be examined by a doctor. I unfortunately cannot say over social media if this would be Neuroplastic or not.
My fear of pppd and the dizziness rocking swaying anxiety it brings on
Do I stop fighting it being frustrated fearful
But the mind chatter comes in with what ifs it’s something bad
I’m always in my head this video do reignited so much with me
But where do I start
A good place to start is brain training (somatic tracking or changing thoughts) or nervous system regulation. I have several videos on my channel on these topics. I wish you healing.
Chronic fatigue community sucks, all negative lol I love you for making these recovery videos bro
I'm so glad my content is helpful!
@@painpsychotherapy it really helps
When I get chest tightness or shortness of breath I do what you say about somatic tracking
