  • The Nike Invincible 3 is a max cushioned shoe that uses a full bed of ZoomX foam to bring the soft and bouncy race day feel to everyday runs. Priced at $180, it's on the upper end of the max cushioned segment when compared to shoes like the Saucony Triumph 21 ($160), Asics-Gel Nimbus 26 ($160) and New Balance 1080v13 ($165). However, it's often on sale for under $150 and offers a similar value proposition as shoes like the $180 New Balance SC Trainer v2 and $200 Asics Superblast. In this video, I give an overview of the shoe and share my thoughts on the ride experience after a first run.

    I got my pair of Invincible 3 at the last Black Friday and they totally worth buying for the reduced price.
    In the end, I felt more stable in these Invincible 3 then my Gel-Nimbus 25. And it was a huge surprise for me. But I always use the last lace loops for a better lockdown and I use a bit ticker socks( or higher socks) to protect my achilles. And another "problem " I had is that they make me run faster then I would like. A Nimbus 25/26, NB 1080v13 or even the Vomero 17 are easier to keep a slower speed.

    Timely review. Thinking of getting a max cushion shoe after finding the Clifton 9 too firm. Been thinking about these as I like a soft underfoot feel (Rebel v4 & SCT v2 being the other shoes in my rotation), and this review pretty much solidifies it for me. Buying now!

    Dont normally comment but i recently purchased the invincible 3 to take some milage during my marathon training and its been great. The heel lockdown is a bit sketchy but i like a looser fit around there. I've been using it for recovery, easy and long runs. Its capable of picking up the pace towards MP, haven't done much faster but im sure it would handle it. I've taken them on a 30km in 2hr+ (4:49/km) with some marathon pace work and it performed great 👍 keep up the great content 🙏

    I had heel slippage in these and the Boston 12's, but a heel lock worked for me in both shoes. I took the invincible 3 up to 2hrs for one session and they felt as "bouncy" from start to finish. I did notice in subsequent runs that I feel the toe bottom out more and I feel the ground more now. Hopefully, the shoe still holds up for me because the heel still has so much foam to give. Thanks for your review!

    A lot of people said they had heel rub and lockdown issues with the V3. I have over 500km on the V2 and had zero issues with it. I did find the outsole rubber wasn't extremely durable. The outer edge of the heel wore down badly by 500km. Mostly since I used it for recovery only. I suspect by 600km I might wear a hole in the rubber, which will immediately move the shoe to treadmill only runs, which isn't terrible. Many people also felt the range on the shoe was really good, but I find they are just too bulky to go any faster than easy/recovery.

    Invincible 3 is the best Nike road trainer hands down. Peg is a good alternative if you also run trails or if you do a lot of strides. I got over 700 miles on my pair and honestly it was a tank.
    The biggest drawback for long runs in this shoe IMO wasn’t the ground feel, but actually it was the weight. While I feel like weight is irrelevant for a daily trainer, the weight of the shoe starts taking its toll when you take it past that 16 mile mark. You’re still getting the leg-protection and recovery magic from the ZoomX, but during the run itself it can get a little tough.

    I’ve put around 1300 miles total across 3 pairs of V1 and V2. It’s a key shoe in my rotation but gradually moving towards the ASICS superblast. The initial pop does quickly go after around 100 miles. It’s only a durable shoe with superglue. All 3 pairs of mine have had outsole detachment or zoom x splitting but outsole is durable - grip wise. I’ve not tried V3 yet, would do so at a discount. I struggle to get above 8 min miles which is ok at easy pace. Great walking shoe when I’ve retired mine for running.

  • @kuriosites
    @kuriosites Před 2 měsíci +2

    Interesting how shoes with ostensibly similar drops can have a different perception of drop. Of course, the flip side is that sometimes the stated drop doesn't match actual drop, according to some of the reviewers who cut shoes up. What matters is whether they work for you though so, I'm glad these do.

    • @brettfettbeargaming
      @brettfettbeargaming Před 2 měsíci +1

      A big issue here is how manufacturers list stack height. Some include ONLY the midsole foam, while other reads combine the insole insert, midsole foam, and outsole rubber as well. It all depends on where they measure from

    • @kuriosites
      @kuriosites Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@brettfettbeargaming I usually use Running Warehouse's specs because they do their own independent measurements, and are consistent across brands. An example is the Novablast. V2 felt like a higher drop shoe and I found it a little uncomfortable for walking and standing, whereas v3 and the Superblast felt much lower despite all being listed as 8mm drop. Just an observation.

    I have a pair of these in my rotation. At first I was going to use these as my recovery Mx cushioned shoes. But I just always prefer to go back to the NB More V4 for that. I saw in another video someone mention that after 100 miles he no longer had heel slippage issues. Mine went away after 75 miles once and I emphasis once the shoe upper was broken in, I currently have 148 miles. Until then, runners knot and laced up tighter than I liked until the break in was done to deal with the heel slippage issue. I have the extra wide version, I don't have massive feet, however I have a very wide forefoot (4E) in 8.5 mens in the invincible 3 with a low instep, so I need an actual wider shoe, and when shoes say wide they actually are not any wider in the base, just more upper volume which is not what I need at all. Haven't had one edge blister in these either, and that has plagued me for 5 years with running shoes because of sizing issues and lack of shoes that fit my feet properly. Also if you look at the invincible and compare it to any other shoe, the medial side from the forefoot actually stays wide a lot further back before it curves in towards the arch more than much any other shoe I've owned or tried on, or even looked at. Imo if you have really wide feet this is the best shoe running shoe to accommodate that, it's not the best shoe for a lot of things, but for a wide forefoot it's been the best I found.

    For me V-1 bottomed out before the 1st mile..the drop pushes too much of my down force onto the forefoot..it was way too hot and the width of the forefoot makes higher socks mandatory or lose some skin..the heel bounce was incredible, but it quickly went flat as the forefoot cushioning..never had any reason to revisit..I never felt good if I took time off for a taper..the most I did was not run the 2 days before the race..
