Stage 3 Ford Fiesta ST // Gears and Gasoline

  • For as long as most car enthusiasts in the US can remember, Europe has been hogging the hottest of the hatchbacks for themselves. Let’s pray then, that the arrival of the heavenly Fiesta ST is a kick in the pants for the rest of the industry, because we need more hatchy goodness in our lives.
    Gary’s Fiesta is Cobb Stage 3, which, in our opinion, is how the car ought to have been delivered from the factory: conservative without being sluggish and powerful without being undriveable. More notable than the power, though, is the handling and fun-to-drive nature of this spritely little econobox. If you’re given the chance to test drive the diminutive ST, see if you can do it on a twisty road. You won’t regret it.

    Love that he mentioned fuel economy. When you factor the low price and high mpg this is easily the best value enthusiast option on the market.

      funny how stupid corporate is. so out of touch with consumers. if they had an awd fiesta st even with the same motor id spend 30-40k for it. really all they need is a slightly larger turbo it can handle up to 350WHP already stock.

    FiST ownere here - I put eight wheels in the back of my Fiesta last week to have them prepped for the track. Also, I've got a family of four and we do just fine getting around in it. Surprising amount of storage for a sub compact. :) Sure, it's no minivan, but pretty spacious for what it is.

      +Gary Thurby I have a question. I have a 2016 same exact with yours. how is ford warranty when it comes to modifying the car? in the case that I install access port. would that ruin my warranty if anything was to happen to my car down the line?

    • @kymerah7856
      @kymerah7856 Před 8 lety

      +Dimitri Gjiknuri unfortunately it all depends on the dealership you take it to. My local dealership wouldn't replace a o2 sensor under warranty because of the work done to the car. So my best advice is talk with other owners and gauge the dealerships stance before you start modifying the car. Hopefully that helps! and best of luck with your car.

    Stage 1: ECU tune

    Stage 4: BIG turbo, Big fuel upgrades, built engine.

    the reason why it's not pushing higher horsepower and torque numbers is because the Cobb tuner is not very aggressive there are many more tunes that are much more aggressive and make much more power I know someone with a cobbn stage 3 Fiesta ST with some sort of custom tune and he's making 230 horsepower and 320 torque. thats 20more hp and 20 more tq just from a better tune. he kept up with my stg2 srt4 acr before i put a zeta 2.8 big turbo on it and i can make 383hp 426tq on 23psi. but on 16psi it puts down 320hp 360tq

    If I were going to get a Fiesta ST, this is exactly how I imagined it being done. Stage 3, in that blue that gets the attention of Impreza fan boys with bold wheels like that. And while I'm tempted to get one, it's not going to provide that extra utility I'm going to want too like a WRX will provide. But the WRX isn't near as fun to drive as a FiST. I think this is the best car Ford has released in this century. What kills my confidence is reliability of this. I worked at a shop where more than half the cars I touched were Fords, where the parts are obscenely expensive, and build quality or engineering was flat out mind bogglingly idiotic. I've heard people who were on their third or fourth transmission on these things. For the guys like Gary who have the balls to not be deterred by that, I applaud you. Because I like this car. A lot. And want to see other manufacturers compete to make a better tiny turbo car. But for that they need to see sales, and I don't have it in me to buy it.
    Thank you Gary for buying your car and for showing it off. This channel is awesome, and the cars like this one are awesome.

    Liking the videos so far, seems to have something the bigger channels lack, I'm really enjoying your videos. However, a bit more technical info wouldn't be a bad thing, I think you guys would find a good way to incorporate it. I don't really understand what 'Stage 3' means, but I very much understand every piece under the hood of most cars. Saying stage 3 doesn't really say anything. saying 300lb ft at the wheels says a whole lot. But what's done to get that 300lb ft? Just a simple tune? exhaust and intake? A bit more explanation would go a long way.
    Love the videos thus far, and looking forward to more, subscribed :)

      Hey dude, thanks for the comment and the constructive criticism. We've been getting a number of comments like this on this video, and at first I thought it was due to people just not liking "stage" talk, which is understandable, sometimes it's meaningless. But now I'm beginning to think it's the way that I edited the video. Gary lists his mods first thing, around the 1 minute mark. But I think perhaps the list is too early, and therefore the viewer isn't ready to hear it and retention is lower as a result. Thanks for the feedback, this all goes into making better videos for you guys.

    What year was the Fiesta you were talking about the steering feel being great? The 2014 Feels pretty electronic and meh. But the suspension and really feeling the road kinda makes up for it. Oh also the The steering is QUICK though, which is nice.

    No one's gonna read this, but I own an s2k and an evo and this is gonna join the gang as my new daily and I'm so excited. This blue on white combo looks excellent. My first journey into domestic too. From what I've read, these are quite good and don't have many issues, is that accurate? Any advice for shopping for one?

      Are you sure no one was going to read you’re comment. If you’re still in the market for one, check service history, mileage, any scratches/ dents, if it’s been in a accident previously, check if it’s boosting correctly, check interior, check if it’s a genuine fiesta st mk7/mk7.5 which was only made 2013-2017

    300 lb/ft and 200 HP means the engine puts down the power s l o w l y . HP measures efficiency and that's where this engine lacks. It would be great on a truck where you need torque to move loads, but on a small car you want HP, since there isn't that much weight to move around.

    it looks beautiful. I don't get why they didn't sell 2 doors here since the back seat is pretty much useless. an average person fits fine in the back seat until the door is closed. Anyway, I want a Fiesta ST and matching Transit Connect both on Team Dynmanics or fifteen52 wheels. are you on stock suspension? I didn't hear in the video

    Really thinking bout getting an ST. Thing is I live in western P.A n our winters suck most of the time. Just wondering if it would be a practical vehicle for where I live? I own a civic that I've had for 8 years and it's a low pro car, when there's snow on the road it's hell.

    • @ProjectM97
      @ProjectM97 Před 7 lety

      I live in PA with a Mazda2 (same platform/basic architecture). It was useless in snow but when I got Dunlop WinterMaxx snow tires, it was better in the snow than my mother's 4WD CR-V.

    • @jdsimz8147
      @jdsimz8147 Před 7 lety

      Prob would be a good idea to pick up a set of stock fiesta tires. The tires for the base models are less low pro and would be allot better in winter.

    • @yamaha94O
      @yamaha94O Před 7 lety

      J. Simondz it's all about the tires! throw a good set of snow tires on the smallest downsized steelies you can fit over the brakes.. that's what I plan on doing. you can make pretty much any car a winter warrior with a bangging ass set of winter meats!
