Usually in high level chess tourneys you get paid even I you just participate so you don t even need to prove he would win a lot or something like that. Also, magnus brought huge scrutiny to hand everywhere, mentally must be devastating for a young kid to become the villain of the chess world. He has at the same time to prove he is strong and deserving of 2600-2700+ elo but also if he wins a lot the accusations of cheating skyrocket, plus now that he is not doing so well in the last 10 games people say "look he s not cheating anymore because they increased security". I think the estimation is quite right in this situation since something like this can bring people to suicide potentially, it's defamation on such a huge scale and it's mainly magnus who brought that (plus hikaru that went immediately full force on insinuating he is definitely cheating, and then had to dial it back a bit because of potential legal backlash)

With the exception of e3, which is a book move with tons of theory, every move in that line is the best move for white. It's not playing for tricks, it's improving your position as much as possible while your opponent drives off a cliff.

I never said white played bad, I just said to get out of the habit of praying for cheap tricks that’s all. If the only reason you play e3 is to hope your opponent plays b5, then yes, you’re playing for tricks. Also e4 and Nf3 are usually more ambitious approaches than e3 since e3 is solely intended to stop b5 and yields a more passive position.

Dlugly claims that he was falsely accused of cheating in a 2020 Titled Tuesday, and confessed so that he could stay on ChessCom and make some money in the future. As it wasn't public, he didn't care too much. (Dumb idea). He analysed his winning games to prove they were human. He also says there were previous accusations which were from a much lower rated student using a secret engine.
He also claims that he is no way a coach of Hans and had 1 session with him last year.

Would be great if you also share your own opinion on things like this statement from dlugy. I personaly think that Magnus only mentioned dlugy in that interview because he is a known cheater, so that with the wording "his mentor maxim dlugy must be proud of him" he could actually speak out kinda directly that he thinks that hans cheated when he got this extreme speed elo rise, without insinuating that dlugy directly is involved in any methods he thinks hans used.
I do also believe that dlugy is putting this statement out for damage control, who wants to send kids to a known chess cheater where the latest news come up when you google him. I do also believe that dlugy is comming up with a wild story which doesnt even makes sense at all, to justify how this could have happened when in reality the games he admitted to were 8 games in a row with 98%+ accuracy iirc. Also what kinda chess lesson is that where a bunch of juniors sitting in a room with a grand master to suggest moves for his prizemoney tournament he just participates in lol

People are confusing accusations of Hans not being a good player vs. Hans being a cheater (or Maxim for that matter). He obviously is a very strong player, without any outside help or cheating. But that still doesn't affect the question of his integrity.
I don't understand why people always feel the need to point out "I am a strong chess player" - "he is a strong player". The cheating risk isn't inversely proportional to natural player strength. Rather, a very strong player actually has a lot of incentive to cheat in addition, probably more than a weak player.
It's not beginners and casuals that take drugs, it's the top athletes. It's the bodybuilders that have already invested years and years and start to plateau that will look out for ways to make more progress.

Thanks for providing updates on these without making any conclusions or accusations. That is why your channel is of such high quality. This whole thing started with Hans beating Magnus in a classical in-person game. To my knowledge no one has presented any evidence of Hans cheating during that game and they keep referring to other times when Hans cheated online. Of course, there should be heavy consequences for Hans cheating online but what about that over-the-board game?
