      Yes and no...
Porn addiction is a real phenomenon that some people experience. But I can't see a non-pedophile being attracted to CP anymore than a straight person to gay pornography for instance. Viewing pornography, or even addiction to it, has a lot of effects on the brain, but isn't capable of changing one's sexual orientation (which is more or less already determined before puberty and not changeable).

The mother is clearly in denial.
Just because you are on the spectrum, you aren't automatically the victim or unable to see right from wrong.
And it frightens me that she genuinely believes that he should be "held accountable" and monitored by someone instead of jail.
That she really does not understand that he poses a threat to children around him or online.
All because she fails to see that he is a grown capable college-attending adult man who committed a crime, not an incapable little boy who accidentally did something "bad".
A lot of parents make the grave mistake of underestimating their child with a diagnosis, and coddles them throughout their whole childhood, never holding them accountable because they think that diagnosis means their child is a forever innocent who can't learn. Which couldn't be further from the truth. Autism doesn't mean dumb, it just means your brain works a little differently.

I had warned him also. Sucks that people don't listen and try to kill the messenger. In the end you're only responsible for how you react and what you do...I sleep well knowing I didn't cover it up or entertain it.
Light is supposed to uncover the darkness not succumb to it and crimes against children are the most heinous because it hits the innocent and the perpetrators are cowards because they cannot contend with their equals.

Well God took him out of this world so he won't be destroying anyone else's life.

It won't, it only serves to give everyone else their minute of dopamine rush knowing that they screwed a boy's life up and punishing him for our own vindictive pleasure. This mom’s in denial of the fact that her son is a predator. You don’t accidentally get sent child pornography. My brother is a detective here in Michigan, he’s told me that they don’t even go after people for this unless they have massive amounts of it, her son didn’t have just a few pics if he’s facing prison time. Her only concern should be protecting the people that he will hurt

What I wanna know as an 18 year old man myself is if this kid is in full sound mind…do they not understand that it’s not right mentally to be attracted to things like that? Why not seek out therapy and just be honest? This kid could take accountability and shut it down before it escalated like this. I never get those CP cases. My mom taught me from a young age of how horrible and disgusting predators are.

Very true - understand in this case (you can view the court documents/affidavit materials in the federal court website to understand the whole investigation), her son Ethan actually downloaded Kik and used it as a way to find others interested in this material, to make friends with others interested in this material, and engage in discussions about the underlying acts, his friend Sergio was arrested and allowed the FBI to use his account to offer Ethan more of this material and Ethan paid for the material and then proceeded to download 30 files of this material.
Instead of stopping himself and seeking help, he did the exact opposite of what you suggest and did so purposefully

If my child was arrested for child pornography, I wouldn't be angsting about the sentencing, I would be sitting down with him/her and having many serious talks to find out why they are drawn to this stuff and trying to determine what's actually going on here, and what the origin of this curiosity/tendency is, how long it's been present and on and on. This woman seems to think this was just a stupid prank or something. I would be concerned about the eternal soul of my child . . . not whether he's going to end up on a sex offender list. I sure wouldn't be making excuses for it.
