A team of individuals... ironically David Beckham was one of the few players that delivered for both club & country. He was spectacular for England.
Didn’t work out well for him at tournaments though
Ironically?
"Cos other teams were better than us" lol. Great analysis.
it's a valid one tho ironically enough. because so much is made of the "golden generation" but it's not like other nations didn't have fantastic players of their own.
Prime Cole walks into this England team
easily
Definitely
His competition is Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw so that's not saying much lol
Prime A.Cole walks into every team TBF.
60-year old Cole walks into this England team at LB let's be honest
Best left back the premier league has ever had.
@@Tyler05595 lmao, you sound 15 but then I checked your profile and it looks like you are. Cole was the best left back in the world whilst he was playing at his peak for Arsenal and Chelsea, ask your da
@@Tyler05595 Vidic, Van Dijk and Dias are not left backs 🥴
@@PFPDan thats why they left the chat. lol
@@Tyler05595 opinion on what? having 5 years of experience of watching the football? even 5 is too much. doubt you remember what happened when you have been 12.
@Séverine Rosalie M. Evra will tell you himself he wasn't better than Cole
The best explanation given for this was from Frank Lampard. He was able to 'put a finger on it' and explain why the golden generation failed (because they did fail, they didn't even reach a single semi final plus failed to qualify for Euro 2008).
Bad management and an imbalance in midfield - rarely played with a controlling midfielder and always tried to get Gerrard and Lampard in. Needed a mix of someone like Alonso/ Carrick in there
Some of them don't get along because of their club rivalries. If they had put aside their rivalry for their country just like Spain did, maybe they might achieve something.
@@d.n.tranger1457 Yeah that's what Frank said.
Maybe because they played a 442 when they had 3 brilliant midfielders? And even if you didn't have a proper CDM there, you could've played Barry, Carrick or Hargreaves.
Maybe because him and Terry were too busy nailing chicks.
Haha
“nailing chicks” You come from the MLS?
terry harassed women on the street
@@Hs022 West Yorkshire lad and don’t you forget it
It was a golden generation for the players and fans but not up to competition level. Like what Ashley come said "they were better then us"
The only player who fully deserved the number of England caps he received.
Ask Ashley about him and JT screwing up 50's and flicking them at people in a club in Wimbledon.
Coz they were, as the current lot are, far from as good as they were perceived to be. Shrek for a start was bang average and like now, in form players weren’t selected if they were at a Non Big Club
They didn't put their club differences aside like Spain did, they were too damn immature to
Early
Probably because they were all pretty overated.
I mean the spine of the team contained 2 world class defenders (for their clubs,) 2 world class midfielders (for their clubs) and Wayne Rooney up top (one of the best strikers to play in the prem) pretty sure it was down to bad management and poor team chemistry.
The golden generation of England who failed miserably in the world cup and European cup because they didn't have a winning mentality 😅😅
