      Everyone. Literally every single English football supporter looked at the screen in aguish when we saw an England corner. Every single corner that was taken was a waste and we all knew that if Harry Kane was in the box we'd have converted so many more. Anyone can ping a ball onto the penalty spot for a big CB to get his big slab head on it. Literally even I can do that 10/10 times.
      Such a bloody waste. You can't tell me that there was a unanimous agreement in the England camp on the decision for Harry Kane to take corners.
      I'm not understating it when I say that he was without a shadow of a doubt the WORST player to take a corner. I'd have preferred Joe Hart to take them.

      Adrian 1977 Kearney it is dumb to take away a box threat but you definitely can’t just have “anyone else take it”, you still need a good corner taker. In Rooneys case, he wasn’t the best at headers and he was pretty good at whipping in a corner.

    • @kevinthorp6982
      @kevinthorp6982 Před 3 lety +4

      @Adrian 1977 Kearney you're totally right, take into account Van persie and Rooney were more all around players, so they have the ability to take a corner properly and set up the play, though Kare is a pure 9 which make that decision nonsense. England coaches are horrible. The one's in charge of the national team tho

    • @JChimos
      @JChimos Před 3 lety +2

      No. Y'all are stupid if you genuinely think it matters which professional footballer takes a corner. Any of them can swing it in. All that matters is that they're not preferred elsewhere.
      I can hit the penalty spot every single time, and I can swing it in or out. You telling me i'm better than some professional footballers at taking corners? I'm pretty sure you'd all rather Kyle Walker swing it in than me.
      Pretty sure Harry Kane failed to beat the first man a couple of times as well.
      Maybe Beckham set the bar too high.

We then may have to face either France/Germany/Portugal in the round of 16 if we win the group. Its gonna be quite tricky tbh, I'm a bit worried about us defensively.

    I’m from the US, but a fan of England football. I think the issue starts with the individual player’s obsession over their own club. In a separate interview, I remember Ferdinand and Gerard owning up to the reality that players were sitting at different tables while spending time with the England National team. They spoke about an issue with legitimately building the team chemistry off the pitch. Here in the US, we don’t have that problem because the MLS is already a joke. Players have passion for their club but it’s incomparable to the passion I see players have in England for their own clubs. It’s a double edged sword.

      The Premier League and the Champions League are so far ahead of the National game that we don’t care. The players also don’t care. It is a redundant form of football. The quality is dire and as such it is not that important.
      Also.....players play 70 game seasons, they play qualifiers they always win, they arrive at the tournaments and are exhausted. We play more than any European league.

      Although, you should look into what happened behind the scenes of the FA over the last 10 years and you will see that it wasn't quite a quick turn around as it seems. It was actually has been year 6 to 9 of a 10 year plan that Gareth Southgate and Sir Trevor Brooking put together in 2012 and worked out.
      Basically they realised the issue was with developing players so went about changing everything at grassroots, academies and youth teams. Then helped change the set up to line him up as the next in line to the throne to be the next England Manager. However, they predicted that their plan would show fruit in 2018/2020. Roy Hodgson resigned 2 years earlier than expected leading to a suspicious chain of events which went off course and then back on course again.

I didn't say he got the England job on the back of his Liverpool performances, but at a higher level he was clearly out of his depth. We have never valued controlling midfield players as high as they do on the continent. Players like Carrick, Scholes were barely ever consistently used properly. In Italy or Spain they would have had 80-100 caps minimum just controlling the matches. In 2016 they had plenty of central midfield players(less fashionable) who could have controlled the matches.

    Kane on corners and free-kicks, Wilshere not kicked a ball all season, Hart was full of errors, Rooney played CM even though he wasn't a CM.
    Iceland's first goal was a routine set-piece they used in a previous game v Austria, so England knew about it. Yet, they messed that up as well putting Rooney on the tallest player.
    So many errors, but the squad selection was the biggest error by Roy Hodgson. How Harry Redknapp didn't get the job at the time was the real question. Still, roll on 2021!

    England have the golden generation like France did 4 years ago, their squad depth was insane... every position had a world class player filling the spot, it’s the same with our squad right now.. whichever way you want to shuffle it, we can beat anybody.

    Its not failings, its Englerland's natural level where they are now. 1966 was a fluke. Not been to another major final. Look at that compared to Italy, Germany, Argentina - even the likes of the Czechs and Soviets have appeared in more finals.
    It also doesn't help your league when 63% of the players in the PL are foreign. Not really helping out your player base.

    Why had players in the squad that were on the shelf for the entire season and inform players that didn’t get picked it was like let’s look at who plays for clubs higher in the table and throw them in.

    GET AN ATTACK MINDED COACH AND PLAY PLAYERS IN THE EXACT POSITIONS AND FORMATIONS THAT THEY PLAY AT THEIR CLUBS WEEK IN WEEK OUT.

  • @b.alexanderjohnstone9774

    A start would be allowing younger players to get tournament experience at their age group level (ie with occasional exceptions like Rooney for example send full internationals to tournaments).

      But they do. Since 2014 with the introduction of the England DNA they started that. Since Gareth Southgate arrived he has basically only chosen players who came through that system. The 2018 World Cup there were a few exceptions as it was too little time to look further but look at the 2020/1 Euros I don't think was a single player who didn't play in the age groups first.

    ok so he's talking about rotating the squad so players arnt not fatigued. 1st off there are not playing that many games in tornaments and thats when they talk about the amount club games. Do the better international team rotate their squads in tornaments, and i dont mean after they have won their first 2 games?

  • @the12thplayeracademy65

    2004 and 2006? He's talking like England 'fell off a cliff' in the semis or a final. That was the 1/4 final (First game after the groups in the euros) and the same, albeit second game after the groups in the world cup.

    I genuinely think the media are very very harsh on the England team. They pile the pressure on them so much and build them up so high to only tear them down if they don't win.
    I do not envy any player who plays for the England national team. This is coming from a Scotsman who watches the these guys every week and genuinely wants to see them succeed.

    I can explain england never do well in tournaments before it even starts they think they are going to win it and when there knocked out it's a shock to themselves and no one else.
