Featuring bandleader Louis Cato and “THE LATE SHOW band,” the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy Award-nominated show is broadcast from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater. Stephen Colbert took over as host, executive producer and writer of THE LATE SHOW on Sept. 8, 2015. - Zábava
Damn, We already making nostalgic songs about 1994, how old am I again😒
It was 30 years ago lmao… I think it’s well due and on time
Old
80's baby here! You're not old sweetie, age is just a number. Stay young in your heart, and you'll never age. The earth has been here a long time, and look at her, she's beautiful!
I did the math…we are about twice as far away from 1994 as Boomers were from ‘The Summer of ‘69.’😊
@josephowens4654 I didn't think of it that way. Good point. I was thinking we're not that far from 1979 from Smashing Pumkins.
In the thumbnail, I thought this was Stephen Colbert doing a character 😅
Same😂 ended up being a nice surprise.
Me too…!
Me too ! Kinda sounds like Bruce Springsteen!
#metoo
Me too!
Everybody's saying country, but I hear Springsteen
I do hear the Springsteen influence in the music and lyrics, but the voice is definitely country. Springsteen sings country. Nice!
I go with Americana. All inclusive for me from Gate Mouth Brown to Billy Strings and everything in between.
@@billmiller9448 That's a big tent, and I'm happy to sit under it.
YES!
The Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams love child after some Kenny Loggins type mainstream polished hit-machine produced it 😂
Great song and vocals, 1994 I was 26 yrs and broke-up with my abusive fiancé . My motto was 94 and Iam out the door!
I have loved this song for over a year now. It's so good. Brings nostalgic tears to my eyes. I was 13 in 1994.
I was 27, making a boatload of dough back in former Communist country Romania, and I was living large!!! I also got together with the love of my life, and moved to Chicago in 1999. Too bad we're fighting for our democracy.....
I was just 41yo and met the love of my life and financially, it was the most successful year of my life, also. Although we haven’t been an intimate couple for some time now, we’ve kept in touch. Recently, we both received terrible health issue diagnosis’. Last year I had the great pleasure of meeting with her for a day. ❤🤗. Anyone that says that they have no regrets when they get older, is telling a bold lie…❤️🩹🥲We all grow old, but we should never let our spirit grow old. Btw, what a great song this is!!👌👍
I love everything about it, the voice , the nostalgia, the tempo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Teen Spirit was in the air...year I graduated HS 1994
I just heard the song country music DJ's are going to get sick of playing this summer! "1994" is an instant hit!!!!!!
It's been out for a very long time actually... But i wish they would play it again on the radio like it just come out
i'm so glad stephen wilson jr was featured here! hopefully others find his music this way
i saw him on seth a month ago he did a better song tbh.
I'm 55 and songs still mean so much more to me than most. ❤
This brings me back to classic country. Amazing vocals, love that simple guitar accompaniment.
Great song. I was a sophomore in college and this hits all the nostalgia
I had my first baby in 1994, I was 22, I got married, my whole life became beautiful for the first time.
Wow,,, that's so interesting Kreiner. Well, I must say you still look young and beautiful....I would say you look sweet sixteen 😀😀😀
@franklingonzal well hell thanks but the age is 51, and I don't fall for you look 16, because I don't want to look that young.
@@kreiner1 Oh you're 51yrs of age? I'm 53. Well, I'm not seldom coming here on CZcams due to the nature of my job. I was thinking if you have Telegram or WhatsApp so that can always talk there if you don't Mind?
You’re so so lucky! I had my first baby with my husband in 2004 and later he decided he didnt want us and now here we are not doing so great. I always fantasize what it would be like to be with a man who truly wanted me. Alas I’m old and will never find out
@oregonsnob31 I know how lucky I am. Don't take it for granted. He was my 3rd marriage, at 22. Can you say home life was bad without saying it was bad. No children with them, though. He saved me. Shit now I'm crying 😢
1994 nostalgia! Perfect to key into by Stephen's truck-drivin' doppelganger. Yessir!
It's such a nostalgic song!! Takes me way back to a much simpler time!! Rock on SWJ!! 🤘
Definitely one of those songs that will be part of the “Soundtrack of My Life.”
That was fantastic; great vocals, great band. I loved the sense of nostalgia, too.
I’ve never heard of this guy he’s great❤
He has so many good songs, in fact all 23 on his album are legendary country top notch, SWJ will go down as the best country artist of the decade, he's about to blow up like hardy did.
wow what a voice!
Great song. Well done. Good mix of thoughts and style. A little Bruce, a little we didn't start the fire memory lane stuff and homage to Curt.
A real thinker.👍👍
Kurt*
I graduated high school in ‘94. Love this song.
I love the hat! And the song!🎉
Excellent music song lyrics the whole package and voice is superb ❤❤❤❤🎉
I can’t believe Colbert is absent yet again! I feel upset and a little angry about how many weeks he’s not on.
Have you ever noticed how a lot of the late night hosts seem to be off for the same weeks? Makes me wonder if they’re off doing something together 🤔
He is truly incredible live! Go to one of his shows!!!
Fabulous.❤
Hi Sparkle, how are you?
Great article written by “missing piece group” about him. Amazing.
I was 8. Still had this on loop for the past half hour.
I love this dude
There is a lot going on in this song lyrically and musically so I can understand when folks hear different memories
It is a great song and has that touch of Nashville craftsmanship and care
Plus it's always a good reminder of what an ol' acoustic guitar can do in the right hands
Personally I think it is as good as American Pie in its lyrical references and as good as Castle on the Hill in evoking the mood of long gone youth
WOW!!!! that's....
That's.....
That is something.
This hit me. Sophomore year. Damn. Amazing song. 😊
Loveeeeee this all!!!❤❤❤ thank you 🙏🏻
If this artist keeps this up.. grammy
"all apologizes" Nirvana riff in there was aces lul
Thanks to the Late Night team for introducing this song. I’m a Boomer but can relate so very much, particularly when he sings “in 1994, when a song meant so much more.” Great job!
Let’s Go Back 😛
I ♥️ GRUNGE!! 😊🩷🤘✌️
Hi Laura, you look great 👍 how are you?
Epic singers voice!!!
Love this
Epic!
Not a country fan but this is terrific!
That's a quote of "All Apologies" at the end, right?
Was roaming through the comments to see if anyone else caught that 🎆
Nirvana is onstage of his influences. Plus Cobain committed suicide that year.
I was 8, and I still remember the summer of 1994. It was a great one! What an awesome song. Giving Bruce Springsteen.
Did anybody catch the last couple chords to the Nirvana song? Penny royalty.
This is why I love my Guitar 🎸.... Makes it look so easy😅 I'm making my videos now 😂
Looking back I am grateful to have been able to grow up without social media…
Fucking beautiful song.
Love the Dead cap!
From the thumbnail I thought that Stephen Colbert had made a spoof music video.
I was on Dead Tour, went to both Woodstocks, watched Lesley West, Richie Havens, and Melanie... So many others
Tasty song and a different guitar tuning👍
Dude walked for miles seeing my Mom in PA listening to this
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome
Best Year 1994
What a bad week to take off, Stephen! I gotta be honest
'94 - hitting my prime in the Sierras at Lake Tahoe - teaching skiing and as a Wilderness Ranger. I had near zero connection with modem culture. Life outside.
I was born in 1994. What a time to be alive lol
YEEEEHAW COWBOY, did you see the rockets? That was GREAT!!!!! Now i wanna see the explosions!!!!!
If Colbert and Bob Odenkirk had a baby, it would look just like this dude!
it was a year i reflect on alot
many good things and bad took place
but what a time it was
young and free
innocent and naive
didn't give a duck till the weekend
I was 38. My best friend was 17. We met last year.
This is so hip and RAWK at the same time.
Like the song.
Did you catch the riff at the end that echoed Nirvana? Nice.
I LOVE PEARL JAM AND ALICE IN CHAINS!! 1994 RIP KURT COBAIN AND LAYNE STALEY 2002 AND CHRIS CORNELL 2017. 😢 ❤🤘✌️
Beautiful. It's 4/20... I can't do and this is 1994. I was there. 🌹🫂
WOW,,,, it's good to know that you had the opportunity to be at his concert 🎉🎉 I must say you look great Nancy
wow…pow’rful stuff
I divorced a man who didn’t love me in 1994. I recovered the years I’d lost and felt free, oh so free
MTV used to mean something different than it does now, which is "Motion To Vacate." 🤣
Just saw this guy as the opener for Charles Wesley Godwin. Had no idea who he was, but his set was ... interesting. The sound wasn't great, a lot of distortion, but I recognize this song. It sounds better here.
Stephen taking off another week. Will he be back next week?
Nice. I was 24. Just got my MS in marriage and family therapy, but had a musician boyfriend to husband.
Stephen Colbert
I’m laughing with you to the bank to ironically deposit what I pray is a tidy sum, but doubt because Genx is so small and the few of us who were emergent adults in 1994 have (or don’t) boomer parents, millennial coworkers, and genz kids, who are all gaslighting us that we don’t exist. Cheers to those who get this song.
Billy Madison came out in 1994 and I turned 10 😊
Why is the late show off again this week? does anybody know?
Reminds me of Bruce
Sounds like young rocker from New Jersey
When it hits the fan is the radio four show that included the excoriating quotes about fox news team at the tonight show....
Me too 😂
Awesome... Better Google em lyrics now 🙂 PS revilation thanks Stephens
Why did I think this was Stephen Colbert with a disguise and makeup on
I thought the same too. And thought all the comments were jokes….😅
Hiding in my headphones. All Apologies.
I was 16. The 90's were awesome. 'All Apologies' salute at the end was a nice touch. I agree, he sounds like Springsteen.
Why the hell is Colbert never on?
Another week off!?
😮😮😮😮
superlative young, man, but, I'm easily amused! All we are is all we R. thanx-angst.
Pretty good Bruce Springsteen imitation.
Has Colbert pretty much retired? Today is Tuesday the 23rd and he didn't do a show last Friday, or yesterday Monday, or tonight Tuesday. That's really getting down to part time and not sure it's worth the effort Stephen. See you..uh...whenever.
1994, and all the nirvana references none to the cure, which rhymed. ...
😢
Okay people hear me out. Am I the only one who thought that was Glenn howerton from always Sunny in Philadelphia.
WOOF! Good Sound!
(though my year was 1974)
Come along Stephen, i wanna see that catholic LUV of yours!!!!!
Indiana Springsteen!
He is good
But Randy Travis was better RIP Randy ❤ Also Toby Keith's music will live on and on ❤
How was 1994 30 years ago?!?
Sounds like Eric Church.
There's a funny thing about the beast, or leviathan, or the many names that they give to it. The thing is so full of pride, that it doesn't even fear the Universe or its(universe) demiurge, thing is, the Universe have so much knowledge, so much power, and everything else, that it just doesn't really care about the beast, however, if the pride of the beast starts to become some sort of irritating anomaly, the only thing stopping it(Universe) from anihilating the leviathan, is the demiurge itself, the only thing(demiurge) that the universe fears the most.
Thomas Hobbes also made an reference to this beast, the leviathan with may names, like the one from the holy scriptures, like John for example.
It seems that the beast is stupid enough to fight the demiurge, so i wouldn't be surprised if it would also want to fight the Universe.
