"Attack of the Dead" is a common journalistic name for the counterattack of the 13th company of the 226th Zemlyansky Regiment on August 6, 1915, when repelling a German gas attack. An episode of the defense of the Osovets fortress on the Eastern Front during the First World War. (C) there is a movie with subtitles about this attack. Taken by our people.

It's amazing that this story isn't lost to time when you know that both sides tried to suppress it. The Germans because of the humiliation and the Russian because it was the Tsar's war and nothing about that was suppesed to be passed down in the CCCP. (USSR)

This was DOPE AS HELL live. I think, my opinion, is when the music breaks down as he sings “and…that’s…when… the …dead men…” is so disjointed because they’re trying to mimic the staggering, stumbling, almost, well, zombie like way they counterattacked. I envision it every time I hear that pre-chorus.

Excellent reaction. I find it interesting that the Germans were considered amongst the more enlightened and cultured societies in the 20th century yet could perform horribly villainous actions with so little consideration. The veil between civilization and barbarism is just a facade with no more substance than a wisp of smoke.

I’m too always wondering how thin is this civilization patina. It’s not only Germans who did villainous things, how about 731 Japanese unit, or nuclear bombing of civil cities made by the US. Even nowadays, any so called civilized westerner can travel to, for example, Thailand and buy there a minor for “you know what” services. So moral values of those enlightened and cultural societies are not so solid indeed.

@@JustAnotherArmyVet I don't know exactly which countries used chemical weapons back then. It was then used for the first time, as far as I know. We didn't give up and now this is happening. It's just not advertised. We say: death is red in the world. It means that when you defend your homeland, your loved ones , then your death is beautiful . Russia has been at war for almost its entire history. There are no cemeteries with foreign soldiers here. And it's more modern. They are not being demolished here. They treat the dead with respect.
