      agreed, the only Taylor albums that appealing to me are Folklore and Evermore. Taylor relies more into commercial sound or pop sound, bet she would not be as popular as today if she continues on making the same genre as Folklore and Evermore. Whereas Lana's transition from genre to genre is so smooth as if she's literally her own genre. taylor could never write Ultraviolence, NFR or Honeymoon, when you hear her name the first thing that will come to your mind is she's a pop genre artist not an alternative or folk.

    I think that a big part of her personality and charm is that she is NEVER the main character. She is shy and always there for others but she never promotes herself/her music and it's very special and makes you feel like she's not that big celebrity that she is

    We will never forget Lana Del Ray. I mean just look at her name, how could you forget that. It sticks your brain, you’ll randomly start saying it through the day and be like “Where did that come from?” or “Where do i know that name from?”. Lana is Physical Media. When you think of Vinyls, instantly Lana, in Black & White, comes to mind.

    I don't remember where I heard this, but I think Lana's song on Honeymoon "24" was supposed to be in the James Bond movie "Skyfall" but instead they went with Adele's song. I could be totally wrong but every time I hear that song it makes me think of a James Bond-esque film. Honestly the entire Honeymoon album sounds like a film score! Things I want to say about Lana Del Rey is how hard working she is because her career started off in 2011 when you didn’t ask who’s gonna be next big alternative artist it was who’s gonna be next big pop artist, so when she came out with her singles and album born to die it was something so different that everyone loved it and many artist like Taylor swift were very inspired by her because wildest dreams the lyrics plus the music video are very much inspired by Lana Del Rey at that time.
    But I also feel like a lot people looked down at her at that time not giving her the credit that she deserves because she really influenced pop at that time and she really isn’t pop she is more alternative so that’s why I think she blew up in 2020 because people were exploring alternative artist and Lana is one of them so tik tok in a way helped her getting more recognition for her work so that’s why I feel like if Lana started off her career at the same time as Billie did like 2016-2019 she would have been more loved and appreciated in the industry because that’s when tik tok was starting off blowing up especially 2019 and that’s when Billie’s album came out and it was used everywhere and she got the respect from the industry because it was a big year for her and she was the staple for alternative music.
    And at the same time Lana Del Rey started blowing up her song like dark paradise was being used by the a lot of make up tiktokers and much more songs like summer time sadness and born to die but also a lot of her unreleased music was getting leaked and they always blow up on tik tok being used by editors or girls just lip syncing to it and guys too getting attention from girls and people always comment what’s the song and it’s like if it’s “ meet me in the pale moonlight by Lana Del Rey” and they probably search it on yt and listen and be like “ oh I like her music “ and they started listening to all of her albums and that gains her a lot of popularity because it’s her unreleased music but that’s something she also doesn’t like because she has said before that she wishes people listened to and praised ocean Blvd as they did to say yes to heaven a unreleased song from UV and well her team saw how popular it was and she recorded it again and put it out as a single but the hype and anticipation for its release was fucking crazy everyone was waiting for it like one song and the hype for ocean Blvd was more fan hype than actual a lot of people how say yes to heaven had.
    Also I wanna say something that annoys me is that I hate how her music gets hate because it’s slow it’s boring but then later like 7 or 9 months it’s blows up cause omg the lyrics are so beautiful ( let the light in and Margaret ) like bitch like Im happy she getting the recognition for her work but people gotta stop hating on her music but then later on when its trending they wanna be all stupid and act like they have Alzheimer’s and be like omg it’s such a beautiful song it’s so good like no shut up you were hating on it when it first came out like it’s so annoying .
    Also I wanna say how hard working she is cause she’s been writing music and singing since like 2005 and has had many eps and one album before she came out with born to die then the next year a new one like she never stops coming out with new albums and they are always so different and good like she worked on lasso since 2019 so she was finishing nfr and working on chemtrails because chemtrails was supposed to be a 2020 album but it got delayed to 2021 and also working on blue banisters right after chemtrails and making it come out in 2021 too and starting to work on ocean Blvd the same year that blue banisters came out and she was still working on lasso like that’s fucking incredible.
    Also I wanna say how lana doesnt need to come out with singles or albums that will be mainstream like she never is like okay what producers are making hits rn, like she makes music that she knows her fans will love that are relatable to many people and also she experiment’s with her music and she makes it sound amazing some examples are Venice bitch and A&W like her mind is so powerful.
    She is her own genre that many people want to be ( nessa barret) but they can’t achieve it and will never be able to achieve it.

    Hey, important correction to make here: Lana's part of, "Don't Call Me Angel," (which is actually the best part of that song IMO) is not a verse. It's the bridge. When you look at how songs are structured, the bridge is meant to provide a contrast. It sounds different on purpose. By all accounts, Lana understood the assignment perfectly.

    Get Free is not like Creep at all. The chords are the same but that is literally it. The vibe of the songs are completely different. Idk how they could want 100%, that is so greedy imo.

    Love you guys but a lot of the Taylor swift stuff that you guys bring up is incorrect. She’s been working with Jack Antonoff since 2014 and his work on the 1989 album is what really made him a mainstream producer that would go on to work with really big names in music (ie lana). Also Jack was only on 5/16 tracks on folklore.
    I think it’s interesting that you talked about her not being viewed as a “serious artist” because all her music is upbeat pop (i disagree), but folklore and evermore were both released with very little promo in the height of the pandemic bc she didn’t care about their commercial success.

      Yeah I noticed that too. If anything taylor is always mentioned for ger lyricism and song writing so idk why they said she's viewed as just commercial. I know midnight was very commercial but literally her last 2 albums have been straight artistry and lyricism and exactly what they described as "what she should do" but like she's already done it? Taylor has said she's inspired by lana but I think Taylor's major influence commercially has helped many artists lean into more lyricism than anything else. I like listening to their videos but I've noticed quite a few times that they'll sometimes say things with no proof or reason behind it, only because it fits what they're saying

      @@miranda_turtle0566 Taylor is very commercial tho, when you compare Lana's pop album to Taylor's pop album you can hear the huge difference. taylor is way commercial sound than Lana, it appeals more to general public even when it comes to vocals Taylor have that pop vocal sound than Lana. @miranda I agree tho that Taylor's lyricism is great, her Folklore and Evermore are the albums I like from her.

      @miranda_turtle0566 Před 28 dny +1

      @paduanicoc.7019 so you're agreeing with me? Taylor is very commercial but she is also noted for her artistry and lyricism and that's what I was critiquing

      @paduanicoc.7019 Před 27 dny +1

      @@miranda_turtle0566 seems like I replied to a wrong person, my reply was meant to the orig comment. regardless, I think that's the reason why Nicky and Coco thinks that Taylor is way popular than Lana due to her "commercial sound" that appeals more to the general public. Lana makes a pop album as if she's her own genre herself whereas Taylor makes a simple pop album.

    unpopular opinion. Taylor is the tipical "popular girl" "bully", and she is using Lana. She thinks she is an artist like her, and i think, nice try girl.

    Btw great video. I just subscribed. but yall totally skimmed over the story behind Ultraviolence! So I’ll add the story here in the comments for all the Lana fans that don’t know it. This is the album that separated Lana into an icon over a one hit wonder. 2014 super upbeat electronic pop was everywhere. Lana easily could have steered this way from Born To Die. But Lana shows her record the label the completed Ultraviolence album that was the complete opposite of what was popular. Her record label hated it and made her work with another producer to “fix” it. I can’t remember his name but that producer told the record label Ultraviolence was already perfect. It ended up doing soo well it set Lana up to have total creative freedom for all her albums. After Born To Die, there was a lot of chatter about Lana being an industry plant that was totally fake and had her dad buy her career. Ultraviolence ended those discussions and solidified Lana as a true artist.
    It’s so weird to think if Lana listened to her label and released what everyone else was releasing, she probably would have faded into oblivion. Thank God Lana was willing to fight for her music.

    Well she didn’t sing any new music. I think to give Taylor respect on her album coming out the same day she was set to perform. I know she will just release it on her CZcams page with no promotion of any sort. Like she did her previous singles.

    Love you guys but I just wanted to correct a mistake you said. Taylor Swift was already working with Jack Antonoff in 2014 on her 1989 album so by the time folklore and evermore came out they had already done 3 albums together. I also think that Taylor has already proved her artistic excellence with folklore and evermore which she didn’t put out to be commercially successful, she just put it out for the art
