- New York Rangers' forwards Artemi Panarin and Frank Vatrano both scored a goal and added two assists as the New York Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 to even the series at 1-1, in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

2 Teams which I would like to see in the 2nd round. But the battle in the West between Tampa and Toronto is also "brutal" since they both deserve to go to the 2nd round in my opinion.

Domingue played really well, having Jarry here wouldn't have made a difference in this game.

Rangers are a great team this year! Pittsburgh shouldn’t take them lightly. Andrew Copp looking solid as anyone on the ice. He definitely has game breaker ability as he’s shown us.
On the other side Crosby is still as dynamic as he ever was in his career. I love watching back and forth series like these! Should make for a wild finish. Great game from both teams.
Why would the Pens take the Rangers lightly? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Pens are missing 2 top 6 forwards, #2 Dman and both their goalies. Rangers are only missing some bottom 6 players. Rangers lucked into an easy matchup so far, but its them who shouldn't take the Pens lightly because they may get a player or 2 back next game.
Pittsburgh shouldn't take them lightly??... You kinda got it the wrong way round, pal. The Rangers are the definite favorite in this series, they're pretty universally agreed to be the better team and the Pens are missing key players. How could the underdog take the favorite lightly? They're not in a position for this to happen

huge win for NY. had they gone to pit with a 2-0 deficit, there would be little to no shot of winning. if they continue to get stronger with their play, they should be able to handle the pens. LGR!!!

@@jeremybeaulieu8470 wrong, I’d say if the Penguins win it’ll be purely due to the high rate of Ranger turnovers, they’re terrible in that regard. Possibly also to the fact that the Penguins are really good at not taking penalties, and the Rangers pwp is one of their biggest strengths.
@@jeremybeaulieu8470 that top line of pit has been all over the rangers, theres no doubt about that. theres also no doubt about how the rangers played much better in game 2, showing significant improvement from game 1, where it was pretty much all pit aside from the 1st period. if they continue to improve, the rangers have a shot. regardless of who wins, if both teams keep up their play, it will be a fantastic series

Where the game is played makes absolutely no difference. You still have to play your game, the goalies still need to stop the puck. In 2014 and in 2015, the Rangers had no issues winning in Pittsburgh. In 2015, after splitting the first 2 games in MSG, the Rangers won Games 3 and 4 in Pittsburgh. In 2014, the Rangers won Game 7 in Pittsburgh. So let's not make a big deal of where the games are played. Ultimately, it will come down to which goalie can be the stopper, and in Shesterkin, the Rangers have a huge edge in that department, especially if Pittsburgh has to play Domingue the entire series.

@@noah7648 Teams fight for home ice advantage just to have the opportunity to play a Game 7 at home. But in reality, the game is played on the ice, and it has been proven time and time again that there is very little advantage to it. It's not like having to fly cross country to play. These teams are in close proximity to each other. I prefer playing on the road, where there is less pressure. The home team must win the first 2 games at home to be able to maintain the home ice. How many teams actually win both home games? In this playoff year so far, only Carolina has been able to do it. What does that tell you about home ice advantage?

Penguins got the split good place to be in, hope fully we get zucker and doumlin back and atleast one of the starting goalie. I'm sure rakell is not coming back due to the cheap shot launching hit, but the penguins can still beat this ranger team igor really stole this game in the 3rd period some great saves, but if the pens keep pushing like that they will be fine.
I hope the Rangers keep checking the hell out of the Penguins, keep wearing them down and causing (clean) injuries. Regardless of who wins, it’ll be tough facing the Canes in round 2, especially if they sweep the Bruins. I have the feeling that Carolina will sweep and this Rangers/Penguins series will go to 7, so whoever wins will be too worn down to stop the Canes.

That penalty on Carter at the end of the game was so dumb.
Nemeth gets called for a cross-check that was little more than a shove. Crosby trips and slashes Fox who has the puck, so the refs should be looking, and no call. The obvious bias shows teams black and gold (this includes Boston) are officiated differently. Slashing, cross-checking in front of the goal after the whistle, is allowed if you're black and gold.
After watching decades of hockey, it is sad when officiating isn't the same for all players and teams. Svechkinkov leveled Lindholm with a 100% clean hit, but penalty was issued. Lindgren levels Rakell, again 100% clean, and a penalty issued. Marchand's endless slashes and cheap shots? Crosby slashing and cross-checking? When are officials going to treat all players as valuable and call games fairly.
Nothing new with these refs. They always holding Cindy and the penwhines hands.

NHL officiating is the worst out of all major sports. And this seems to be a veiled complaint in itself.

@@johnblze667 Agree, but at least he's consistent. As a whole the NHL is the worst. The inconsistency during games as well as penalizing players additionally after the game. Even their newer rules are horrible. They basically have removed the instigator penalty by over penalizing it so now it is rare for someone to get called on it. And more and more players are attacking opposing players after a hit, even if clean, but it wrecked a team mate. They won't call the instigator because a misconduct has to come with it. So now you have both teams being penalized evenly, when the instigator should get an extra 2min. How about your boy Malkin on Boroweicki. The refs had a whole intermission to look at and further penalize him. So he stays in the game, while Boroweicki is in the locker room, asking his mom if she put his teeth under the pillow for the tooth fairy. To find out the next day his action was so egregious it required a 4 game suspension.
