Millions of WOL out there and I kinda don't like the plothole that they kinda skirt around being that you can't do content without other players' help. They say you gather other adventurers, but then treat you like the lone savior in the end. I wish the game had more single player content because of this, but at least we do get that in the form of scions helping us throughout dungeons and some raids. That's much more appropriate.
@@Jake38ninebut it is canon in the future where people do help you. I dont think there is millions of WoLs you are unique to your world and only one of you. Even if others have the Echo our WoL is just different and chosen. And of course we aren't invincible to everything and can easily die we are just a person afterall so help from others isn't strange.
@PrincessofKeys It still doesn't make sense why the WOL gets all the credit though. The scions deserve a bit more credit at least. And the Azem crystal was probably their way of recounting it because technically the WOL is an Ascian and Azem has taken a form or possessed a body like any other ascian. And I suppose the reason they are so powerful is due to being an ancient and instead of transforming into a God or monstrosity, we use aether to strengthen ourselves and our weapons. It's already shown by Hades and Hythlodeus that ancients weird aether and can make our tiny human forms the same size as the ancients. That's A TON of aether. And they create creatures out of aether as well. So the Azem crystal is just tapping into that Ancient aether weilding and creating phantoms to aid us. I think the retcon makes more sense now, even though it is a bit cheesy. But before we got the Azem crystal it's silly to think that we deserve all the praise when there's 3-7 or even 23 other adventures who aid us up until the end of Shadow Bringers where we get our crystal. After Shadow Bringers we can earn all the credit, but before that we're just a protagonist that needs help to do most dungeons and raids.

And generally speaking, it is the Scions whose help is required to work out the details of matters either political or technical. All we do is fight, gather stuff for people, and occasionally lend a friendly ear, but it's others who use the resources we provide to solve the problem. When brute force is needed, that's when we shine, and that's about it.
Unless they've moved it, you used to be able to find it under the dravanian hinterlands back in HW. There was a rock with incomplete collision you could fly through + get under the map and you could see the little jail cube floating under the land.

I was pulled into the jail once. I had fallen out with a friend and they had reported me for RMT. I log in one day cos I’m putting the final touches to my upcoming world transfer when boom I was transported, GM explained my account was being investigated for RMT and I had mentioned I was getting ready to switch worlds. They told me during the duration of the investigation, I’d be unable to transfer. About a week or two later I was updated that I was free to transfer and they found no evidence of any RMT.
@@eirenii I never found out what happened to him. But I eventually heard he had relocated to the same world I’m in now but I don’t think he’s aware I’m here. To be honest, I was over it around that time. I never followed up on it. This was back years ago around when transferred were first introduced. I recall seeing a lot of activity relating to GMs back then compared to now.

Now... they're overloaded with more players where GM's waste their time on other reports that are seemingly more important than, "They said bad word." These days on my server, people openly cuss all the time in /yell and /shout and nothing ever happens. With Xbox players soon coming and Xbox culture being a whole different frat house jock mentality with their sports games, GM's will more than likely ignore ridiculous reports more and more. If not, they'll be forced to adapt to ffxiv's growing culture.
When I started the game I put my name as Osama Been'Lagging and got tp'd into that same room with a GM, mind you i had probably 1 or 2 hours of playtime and went into the game blind so I was confused AF ! They told me my name was inappropriate and just gave me a name change with a small warning XD

i gotta say, its really unfair to get banned for being mean back to someone who was rude and instigating conflict. really hate how this always happens in games where reports never seem to look at the full situation.
It's to stop retaliation and to get you to report instead. I agree thou that a short ban should only be served if you believe a warning wouldn't be affective. If someone is cheating (bot scripts...) or extremely nasty to someone for example, profiling them this should be a perm ban. Normally GMs are quite laid back and just give a warning so either this GM is strict or the uploader said something quite bad.

@@LG1ikLx unfortunately it appeared this wasn't his first incident which is why the suspension was put in place. you are issued a warning the first time i guess if that doesnt stick they prolly up the punishment for each consecutive one after. Also the gm's should also look at the one reporting it to see if they had instigated it in the first place. knowing that it was an instigation i wonder if the person who reported it also got some sort of warning or something? i havent played this game in years because my current pc can't handle it but maybe someday when i can afford a better pc. I do miss playing.
Who's to say that they didn't? If the person responding to a rude person was noticed, then it's likely the rude instigator was as well. But GMs aren't allowed to share with you what actions they take against other players.

I have been playing ffxiv for 10 years and never been suspended or put into GM or even a warning and I have said some questionable things to people so I doubt it was just for saying they love kissing men. lol They probably trolled beforehand or said something much worse.
Unless your friend provided screenshots he is most likely lying to hide what he actually did. People love to say they're punished unfairly. But this game is very LGBT friendly, so unless he said it in the context of an insult or homophobic rant then he wouldn't be banned for something like that even if reported.
Just an fyi, if you open the emote tab in the menu, you have a toggle on the bottom right that says something to the effect of "Enable emote text log" or somesuch. If you tick it off (on by default), you can emote as much as you like without spamming chat. If you already knew this, and have done so and were still reported, may the person that did so step on a lego. @@90piterr

My first two bans were just instant, I didn't even get a chance to defend myself in either cases, I just woke up and saw the email. First time it was because my character(Who I was playing for over a year, 1540 hours)'s name was a slur in some unknown foreign language apparently. Second time was....they didn't even bother telling me what the reason was for, they refused to explain.
Ive been playing this game since 1.0 and have never been suspended, banned or sent to the time out gaol. Then again Im not inherently an asshole or pull stupid stunts. if people attack or harass me, I just block, report and move on. Never had an issue.

Both of them did the one thing you shouldn't do while in jail... they disconnected. Then they logged in probably minutes apart and ended up in the same instance waiting for a GM to be available to treat their cases.

Yes. During the infamous TOP controversy with the cheaters there were chat logs of the GM’s punishing the people who participated. They were translated into English from Japanese for people keeping up with the drama.

I'm not sure where these reports and jailings keep happening from, but I can say pretty certainly in my year from playing in Coeurl, I've never even seen a GM before, let alone a player getting whisked away to jail. We have plenty of assholes on the Crystal DC as well, I guess it's either just not obvious when it happens or we just have thicker skin on Coeurl.

Nah, I've seen someone banned for this. Even when someone gets immediately suspended they still tell you to blacklist as a temporary measure while they take care of it. Depending on the nature of harassment they can only warn or suspend them the first time, hence telling you to black list, because it's the player circumventing the blacklist with alta that is actually the bannable offense. And y'all might think that's weak of the GMs but they handle this much quicker than the real life cops handle stalkers lmao. At least you're not in real danger.

I’ve only reported a RMT player stupid enough to advertise by shouting in Limsa Lominsa. Usually I don’t really bother but the arrogant stupidity was just asking for trouble. The process was automated though and no GM got back to me (not that I was expecting it as it’s probably not hard to pull up the chat logs) so either way I don’t know if anything got done.
You don't just get sent to gaol like this usually there's a gm who comes in and tells you what you did and why you are being punished and that you are being banned for X amount of days

i had someone undercut me by 1 gil all the time. so i undercut them by 100k coz they were annoying me. then they got very mad and hurled abuse at me in french, i was so curious what they were saying i went through the effort of google translating it. they were insulting my family, saying shit like they hope my mum dies n shit. after I made it clear I didn't care what they were saying and was just laughing at how pathetic they are (laugh emote) they tried to give me some sob story about how they don't get much time to play coz they have to go to hospital or some shit, clearly a bullshit story to make me feel bad. I made a deal with them anyway, said I will raise the price back up 100k if they match the same gil as me no undercutting. They agreed, then next day they undercut me by 100k gil early morning thinking I would not notice. I bought the item from them, and put it back up 100k more expensive and mine + the one I bought and put back up 100k more expensive both sold a few hours later. They must have seen what I did, because I received a /tell from them later. A lot more abuse + telling me they were going to post our chat all over the ffxiv facebook and tell everyone what I had done. I just laughed and said "Oh noooo, not the facebook police, please no" obvious sarcasm. So satisfying that i profited off that loser, and to this day nobody said anything bad to me in game or on discord or anything so clearly they were all talk.

@@HighSummoner_Izzy Yeah, back in the day you could be reported for saying a cuss word and sent to GM jail. I was once reported and sent to GM jail for saying the F word in /say. Now... they're overloaded with more players where GM's waste their time on other reports that are seemingly more important than, "They said bad word." These days on my server, people openly cuss all the time in /yell and /shout and nothing ever happens. With Xbox players soon coming and Xbox culture being a whole different frat house jock mentality with their sports games, GM's will more than likely ignore ridiculous reports more and more. If not, they'll be forced to adapt to ffxiv's growing culture.
When I started the game I put my name as Osama Been'Lagging and got tp'd into that same room with a GM, mind you i had probably 1 or 2 hours of playtime and went into the game blind so I was confused AF ! They told me my name was inappropriate and just gave me a name change with a small warning XD
Lol it was like some kind of purgatory. As soon as you helped beef kurtains realize that her name was inappropriate, you got teleported out of there. Maybe the GM was trying to get you to do their job for them 😅

Never new what the jail looked like, but was told it existed after my first character name was Biggus Diccus (monty python reference). Went almost a year before the game asked me to do a name change to login.
I think the message was something like "change your name to something following our guidelines, or we will jail you next time."

i gotta say, its really unfair to get banned for being mean back to someone who was rude and instigating conflict. really hate how this always happens in games where reports never seem to look at the full situation.
It's to stop retaliation and to get you to report instead. I agree thou that a short ban should only be served if you believe a warning wouldn't be affective. If someone is cheating (bot scripts...) or extremely nasty to someone for example, profiling them this should be a perm ban.
Normally GMs are quite laid back and just give a warning so either this GM is strict or the uploader said something quite bad.

@@LG1ikLx unfortunately it appeared this wasn't his first incident which is why the suspension was put in place. you are issued a warning the first time i guess if that doesnt stick they prolly up the punishment for each consecutive one after. Also the gm's should also look at the one reporting it to see if they had instigated it in the first place. knowing that it was an instigation i wonder if the person who reported it also got some sort of warning or something? i havent played this game in years because my current pc can't handle it but maybe someday when i can afford a better pc. I do miss playing.
Who's to say that they didn't? If the person responding to a rude person was noticed, then it's likely the rude instigator was as well. But GMs aren't allowed to share with you what actions they take against other players.

But this game is very LGBT friendly, so unless he said it in the context of an insult or homophobic rant then he wouldn't be banned for something like that even if reported.

Just an fyi, if you open the emote tab in the menu, you have a toggle on the bottom right that says something to the effect of "Enable emote text log" or somesuch. If you tick it off (on by default), you can emote as much as you like without spamming chat. If you already knew this, and have done so and were still reported, may the person that did so step on a lego. @@90piterr

My first two bans were just instant, I didn't even get a chance to defend myself in either cases, I just woke up and saw the email.
First time it was because my character(Who I was playing for over a year, 1540 hours)'s name was a slur in some unknown foreign language apparently.
Second time was....they didn't even bother telling me what the reason was for, they refused to explain.

Ive been playing this game since 1.0 and have never been suspended, banned or sent to the time out gaol. Then again Im not inherently an asshole or pull stupid stunts. if people attack or harass me, I just block, report and move on. Never had an issue.

Both of them did the one thing you shouldn't do while in jail... they disconnected. Then they logged in probably minutes apart and ended up in the same instance waiting for a GM to be available to treat their cases.
Due to server congestion and the phenomenal growth of the game, they run out of jail cells to accommodate so they tried to put 2 people in one cell... lol

I'm not sure where these reports and jailings keep happening from, but I can say pretty certainly in my year from playing in Coeurl, I've never even seen a GM before, let alone a player getting whisked away to jail. We have plenty of assholes on the Crystal DC as well, I guess it's either just not obvious when it happens or we just have thicker skin on Coeurl.

Funny... they encourage people to report when there is a player being toxic however when you DO exactly that they either say "blacklist, go to another zone or ignore them"
I had this issue months ago and this player was stalking and harassing me (not that i care but i was tryna be petty so i reported all her alts.)

Nah, I've seen someone banned for this. Even when someone gets immediately suspended they still tell you to blacklist as a temporary measure while they take care of it. Depending on the nature of harassment they can only warn or suspend them the first time, hence telling you to black list, because it's the player circumventing the blacklist with alta that is actually the bannable offense. And y'all might think that's weak of the GMs but they handle this much quicker than the real life cops handle stalkers lmao. At least you're not in real danger.

I’ve only reported a RMT player stupid enough to advertise by shouting in Limsa Lominsa. Usually I don’t really bother but the arrogant stupidity was just asking for trouble.
The process was automated though and no GM got back to me (not that I was expecting it as it’s probably not hard to pull up the chat logs) so either way I don’t know if anything got done.
You don't just get sent to gaol like this usually there's a gm who comes in and tells you what you did and why you are being punished and that you are being banned for X amount of days

People would get upset I undercut every minute if they undercut me, they get mad and say something that would get them in trouble. I had 2 people banned, and multiple crafters left server because of me lol all before the you could buy and sell on other servers using the aetherite. Now I'm retired billionaire

i had someone undercut me by 1 gil all the time. so i undercut them by 100k coz they were annoying me. then they got very mad and hurled abuse at me in french, i was so curious what they were saying i went through the effort of google translating it. they were insulting my family, saying shit like they hope my mum dies n shit. after I made it clear I didn't care what they were saying and was just laughing at how pathetic they are (laugh emote) they tried to give me some sob story about how they don't get much time to play coz they have to go to hospital or some shit, clearly a bullshit story to make me feel bad. I made a deal with them anyway, said I will raise the price back up 100k if they match the same gil as me no undercutting. They agreed, then next day they undercut me by 100k gil early morning thinking I would not notice. I bought the item from them, and put it back up 100k more expensive and mine + the one I bought and put back up 100k more expensive both sold a few hours later. They must have seen what I did, because I received a /tell from them later. A lot more abuse + telling me they were going to post our chat all over the ffxiv facebook and tell everyone what I had done. I just laughed and said "Oh noooo, not the facebook police, please no" obvious sarcasm. So satisfying that i profited off that loser, and to this day nobody said anything bad to me in game or on discord or anything so clearly they were all talk.

That's a pretty fucking obvious for almost any online multiplayer game, addons like some what we see in FFXIV defer a huge advantage to a player with them versus one without. You seem to be confused. The game is for adults because of the themes, dialogue, outfits, ESRB rating, etc. The graphics being reminiscent of a cartoon or comic book are giving *YOU* the feeling that this is a children's game. That is *YOUR* mistake.
