I can't believe I found a video sharing the my childhood favorite soup, we used to come to Chili Willis all the time as a kid. We were regulars and whenever I wanted that delicious ice cream sundae on the crispy taco shell smothered with cinnamon and sugar, three scoops of ice cream, chocolate syrup, nuts, and whipped cream the servers used to let me top my sundae and place a cherry on top. Thank you for making this video!
i LOVE my stick blender saves so much trouble with using and washing a blender on certain things.........my wife got our kitchenaid stick as a seniority gift at her work......big company.......one year she got a stand mixer Kitchenaid Profession Series 600 with lift bowl........that must have been a big anniversary, 25 or 30 years.
Loved this soup! My girls always ordered it with buttered tortillas and called it mud soup. Please give the recipes for queso and vegetarian chimichanga. The seasonings and everything about your recipes make them tops!
Skip the first 3 1/2 minutes. That chile is Pasilla de Oaxaca. They are also called pasilla mixe, or chile pasilla Oaxaqueño. Oh, there are no exact recipe measurements but easy to guess.
Sounds like you’ve got a great start to a tasty bowl of BB Soup. Be sure to keep enough liquid as it simmers and allow the beans to completely cook. Enjoy your black bean soup Chili Willi’s style. Chili regards, Ron
I always got a bowl of black bean soup and a cherry coke when I was a kid. I branched out to the rest of your menu as I grew, but the bean soup was always my favorite! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed the cooking lesson. Black Bean Soup was always a favorite at Chili Willi’s. The smoky chile that I use in the video is Pasilla de Oaxacanya, which just means it is from the state of Oaxaca. You may substitute any dried chipotle chile to add that smoky flavor to the bean soup. Use a dried chile rather than the chipotle in adobo found in a can. You want to remove the chile once your soup is cooked to add flavor. If you like spicy though you may purée some of the chile with the soup ingredients. Thanks for your comments. Chili regards, Ron
When I got my soup it wasn't that thick of soup. I got the soup all the time when I was setting at the bar talking to rob. I even brought my own hot sauce and Rob would take my qt jar and brought it back washed.
You seem like an incredibly nice, sweet man. And, I'm sure your soup is delicious. But, you are misprouncing some pretty basic food and cooking terms. The 1st one was saying al dante. I am italian and just so you know, it is al dente with a soft e. Also, you prounce puree incorrectly. It is not purr-a, like a kitten. It is pure-a with a hard u. Just thought you should know and was a little surprised you didn't, being in the business and all. But, you are very good at explaining everything you are doing and why. Thanks for the vid.
