- Want to work on improving the strength of your arch? Try these exercises! Strengthening our arch comes from improving the strength of our intrinsic foot muscles (the small muscles on the bottom of our foot) as well as are extrinsic muscles (the muscles that support our ankle and our arch).

@@SambharScion I consulted with a doctor about my flatfeet and advised that a flatfeet can only be recovered when the person is at his/hers early ages of their life (around 4-12 years). Only then a flatfeet can be fixed by using various methods

My parents made me do towel curls as a child. I hated them because my arch always cramped and "fell" immediately afterwards. Any tips on combating that?
Working on continuing to strengthen the muscles that support the arch! Give some of these other exercises a try!

you can help by using a ball or a stick, with all your weight on it, on specific part of foot; there are some exercises very fast to forget the cramps
I mean it sounds like the towel exercises made it worse. I don’t know definitively but it doesn’t sound good
I dont have the mind muscle connection to do the 1st one

I don’t think I understand how the first one works
I’ve always had pain in my feet as a kid. Eventually after enough moaning my parents took me to the doctors and they said I have “flexible flat foot” I was given insoles and told to wear them which I did. but as I’ve got older it’s spread to my knees and now even hips. I’m pretty sure my tibia or fibia has twisted too I’m only 25 :(. Would this exercise help me?

I thought it was a power, rather than weakness.
How long, how many reps/sets?
Try 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps if well tolerated.
These exercises cannot change your feet, I think... but they are interesting to limit pain when "flat feet person" must be on plane surface (my case when I am dancing classic...)
Correct - it depends on the cause of your flat feet whether it's more a boney change or a lack of muscle control. Regardless, we know that strong feet muscles are crucial for both individuals!
What about curled toes

Can an arc be formed by doing these excercise for a long period of time?
They can help if the result of the flat feet is truly muscular in nature!
@@ThePrehabGuys when I flex my foot, an arc is formed but otherwise when I stand, it becomes flat. In that case I'm asking

i have the worst kind of flat feet the doctor told me my ankle touches all the way to the floor thru my foot , you could see it thru any shoes i wore and made me feel ugly, on top of that it was so bad i’d go to work and be in bed the rest of the day ,i ended up having surgery on the left foot and it bone had healing problems and healed slow when it did ended up having 4 surgeries total tho, this time using bone from my hip worked. was in bed like 3yeads during that time, i never even did the other foot, insurance ended .if your feet are bad enough you feel pain bad, from being in ur feet jus a few hours get new balance, and get a wide made shoes they’ll explain, but new balance specializes in orthopedic shoes and inserts and these exercises do work to strengthen parts of your foot to hold more weight in needed parts that flat feet restrict and that’s how our feet start to drift out from facing straight when walking then causes knee then eventually goes up to your spin pain .

Forget about these exercises. I did them for years and still have the same problem (71 year old)
you would have more problems if you hadn´t.
