I have 60K km and 1 regulator, one spring shaft, 1 water pump seal, I’ve changed to a better radiator due to small leaks, and I think that’s all. When it runs good (mostly of the time) it is one of best bikes i’ve ever ridden.

@@uszokrepper1 yes, but I enjoyed the both parts, riding and repairing it. Now I know the bike better, and I like to known every bike I ride, it makes me to ride safer and better. If you like mechanics a Ducati is a good option hahahah, if you don’t, buy a Honda xd
And I use it for everything, going to work, weekends rides, fun rides, trips, etc. Probably I’ll buy other bikes, but this will stay with me as long as I live and I’ll tell my future kids (if I had ones) to not sell it xd

Owned a 2011 Ducati 848 EVO for 6 years 2015-2021. The first part about the wiring, oil leak from there was what I encountered. Due to the heat, the wires were fked up and I kept getting error code 5.1 saying BATT HI or something, My headlights and dashboard was flickering on and off, based on error code and ducati forum, it pointed towards the rectifier. Changed the rectifier and battery but the problem still persisted. End up it was the wire which was burned out already. Change to a lithium battery too after that because i realised the normal YUASA battery doesnt last long for me. The plastic coolant bottle also tends to leak after awhile due to the heat and the positioning. In my experience, I think the 848 is a good bike to own because it shares parts with the 1098 and 1198. Seeing your bike makes me miss mine as i have sold it during the COVID-19 period. Perhaps you can consider using an after market clutch slave, it really helps in making the hydraulic clutch less stiffer.

Hi Adam, I am about to start addressing these problems. It's funny most of these problems you have outlined are identical to the ones I see on my 848.
I was riding the bike home at night, and the headlights, dash light and indicators were tripping off, as you mentioned. I cycled onto the BATTERY mode and sure as, it was overcharging. Unlike the 90's Ducati's that the alternator would burn out a stator coil and undercharged. So yep, a new VRR is required.
Do you mind if I ping you questions over the coming future?

Big fan of these older Ducatis, really hope to own a 748/916/996/998, a 999 or a 1098/1198/848 at some point. The factory issues that can happen with these bikes are rough but there’s just something special about them. Doesn’t help that my dad has had his 2012 Panigale 1199 S since new which has been a fantastic bike for him. 30k miles and still going strong. It’s never had a major issue other than just normal bike stuff. I’m interested to see from experience just how much they improved with the Panigale because I’ve not really heard about that many issues with them.

You should remove that white 3-pin plug on the end of those three yellow wires that come from your alternator and hard wire them to your rec/reg. The plug has a habit of catching fire because the spades in the plug are way too close together and the phases short circuit.
