    Great to see this platform grow Love how you make simple bamboo cutting boards look like a Art piece. I did not realize how important grounding is it works so well we tend to forget that all these stray electrons need a place to go and dissipate.

    Nice to see a full example on a fast easy platform the spikes with the Sorbothane base are cool also love the Clocks shield and both damping and thermal insulation stabilizer like a 3 in one shield.

    i have a dac that has Optical, coax and usb input... HDMI Pro is not something i could use... From what i understand usb would be better from the options i have - does IAN Canada have a board i can use to extract USB signal to my dac that is really really good.... i am a bit lost here.

    Thanks a lot for this great video. What do you think about using this Streamer over spdif or a IAN Canada AES/EBU outputboard directly to active loudspeakers? What´s about the digital volume control in this streamer? Is there any lose of sound quality and clarity? Volume control with roopie/roon? Thanks a lot Karim

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  Před 9 měsíci

      I and many others tried a preamp /Amp or integrated and it sounds better with a preamp
      It is not the digital volume control but rather having that extra amplification and impedance matching.

    Hello Gaby,
    I’m new to the channel and I have a question regarding the clocks.
    Is it in the streamer or the dac components that the clocks have to most impact?
    I apologize if my question is naive. I’m just wondering that if I have SC pure on the streamer but cheap clocks on the dac component is the quality impacted because of the cheaper clocks in the dac?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The last reckoning clocks are the most important no sense on spending a fortune on clocks in a streamer if the Dac is reclocking after.
      In my experience building a streamer / Dac combo like the D6 video leads to a far superior sound then building a streamer to send to a Dac. Once you experience that you can the sell your old/ original Dac

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Decide if you are building a Dac or streamer
      Then check my streamer or D6 Dac all parts are in the description
      You may want to join Ian’s thread o the DiyAudio to connect with other diyers who like building Ian’s stuff
      Never had a Wiim so I can not tell you
      Start simple unless you are advanced
      Good luck

    Hello Gaby...
    This is fascinating. I have an eternal love and passion for all music. The thought of DIY is exciting.
    I am autistic. My fine motor skills are very poor. Hand/eye coordination is not good. Would you ever consider building a unit for someone? I'm 60years old. Id love something unique and wonderful, like this.

  • @iamnotpaulavery

    I'm very interested in your videos on building our own components. But, what if I have zero experience or knowledge in electronics or electronic devices?
    It's funny, I had a girlfriend in college named Gabby (Gabrielle). And, my nicknames for her were: "the Gabbster", "The Gabbinator", "Gab-a-tola", "Gab-o-rama", etc.
    Anyway, I digress...Im very much into building my own things, servicing my own stuff, and I'm very mechanically inclined. But when it comes to things that can store enough voltage to kill me...not so much! Do you offer one-on-one instruction?
