- A lot of motorcycles don't come with rpm gauge or tachometer. Here, I have demonstrated how to install a cheap tachometer from Amazon for your motorcycles. this tachometer is suitable for 1 to multiple cylinders and works for both 4stroke or 2 stroke engines. He gave info on everything EXCEPT what people have questions about. I want to know how the tach connects to the engine and reads rpm's when there is no connection point on a motorcycle. Anybody can screw a gauge to a handlebar and tuck wires
You wrap it around the spark plug wires.
The wire senses the electromagnetic pulses from the high current on the spark plug wire

That kind just picks up the current I'm the spark wire and makes a guesstimate on how many rpms it's at
Can you just cut off the extra wire before you wrap it around the spark plug?
I suppose you can with a clean cut with insulation intact.
What mode do you have this set at?
1p1r mode. Which is basically for 2 cylinder 4 stroke engine.

No it only shows the engine revolution. For speedometer, you can buy gps speedometer.

Many bike doesn't have that built in. These cheap solutions helps us to get an idea of the engine idle rpm, helps us setting carb tuning etc.
