My $3,000 Volvo C30 drives like it got in a fight with a werewolf. After 150,000 miles on the factory suspension, it's all shot. The turbocharged 5 cylinder engine runs perfectly so it will all be worth it once this car is sorted. Let's get started on the rear suspension, replacing the shocks and sway bar end links. Just that should massively improve the car. Then we'll go flying in the Cessna 182.

I like the way the shocks are attached on this car. My daughter and I are replacing shocks and shock mounts on her 09 S60 and the metal sleeves the bolts thread into on the shock mounts twisted loose from the mount when removing it. Had to spend an hour trying to get vice grips in to hold the sleeves to finish removing the bolts so I could remove the old shock mounts. It was a great demonstration that things don't always go as expected, and sometimes you have to just be creative, and be persistent when dealing with old equipment or cars. You'll like how easy it is to replace the front end components on that car. Volvo did a good job making it super easy to work on the front suspension.

Yours does not look OEM though. The OEM is plastic and has a more green color to them. 50Nm to torque the M10's down. Need to replace the shocks too some day.. really easy job. But to replace the springs it require spring compressors.. and is a little more fiddly but not hard to do. Just be sure to put the springs in the right positions and also replace all the rubber seats..

See about going for a ride in a bi-plane with a good aerobatic pilot, you will love it if you can handle it. My instructor was also the aerobatic instructor and took me up in a couple aerobatic planes on my 3rd flight after he jokingly said to do an aleron roll in my 2nd flight so I did before he had a chance to grab the wheel. The 152 we were in didn’t have an inverted oil system so back to the airport we went smoking. Thank god we didn’t catch on fire from the spilled oil. Anyway there are so mst thx

Yes! You always do a run up after you have shut down. Read the checklist. After you are accelerating down the runway in attempt to takeoff especially at a soft field or short field you do not want to try to diagnose why you’re not getting full power. Technology will give you great insights but you have to do the tests to identify any problems prior to taking off.

Easier than on my Volvos, an 850R and V70R, Wagon life of the massive rear end lol. Easier than the engine/transmission swaps and refresh of a 93 Jag XJS I bought and the 86 Firebird it came with in the trade. Swapped out the AJ6 Inline 6 for a GM 4.8l + turbo + 4l80e, that was actually fairly easy, putting the AJ6 into the Firebird took a bit of creativity but it runs like a dream after a refresh. The XJS is going to be used for cross country road trips (well, from Missouri to either coast, half way cross country) and I wanted an engine I could get parts for at any small parts store if something were to happen and something tells me not many small parts stores have Jag parts on the shelves. I'm turbocharging the AJ6 since I already have an independent ECU running it and don't want to buy an original supercharger used on them for a fortune when I have spare parts to turbo for cheap.

Huh, why not uprate the suspension? You'd see a much greater improvement going from stock base to a decent aftermarket. The performance version of the C30 has some minor suspension tweaks a quicker steering ratio and logos and body kit tweaks. A stiffer rear bar from a mazdaspeed 3 for instance would dial out some understeer. A flash and a larger intercooler and you can safely get another 30-50 hp. But I guess this is a fix and flip. Don't mind me and my scope creep.

I'm gonna say it, I'm not that big of a fan of the new camera. It's too zoomed in when you hold it in selfie mode. It focuses on stuff in the background more than it does the foreground or what you are filming. When you are filming and talking behind it you are a lot quieter, almost muffled, than when you talk in front of it.

There’s a reason he’s doing it himself. That stuff when you pay labor and list for parts at a shop doesn’t doesn’t make sense to do on an old car.
