  • After unmounting stamps from their wooden block, the image used to place the stamped image is lost, and one ends up stamping blindly. This video tutorial demonstrated how to put the image back onto unmounted stamps, so that one can see once again what is being stamped.

    I'm so happy with your demonstration. I've got some stamps where the picture peels off the block and I've glued that on to the cling mount. I now know that it's the vinyl that would be the best for the cling. I really love this idea with the tissue paper. This was taking a long time to complete, so I tried removing the picture film on the back of the stamp block and it works great for the majority of stamps, however some don't have that film, so I just photocopied the image of the stamp and glued it on the back.
    One problem I've encountered is that after using my acrylic block after stamping with different stamps, the acrylic block as well as a new We R Precision Press Advanced Stamp placement thing, which i love, have messy film on both acrylic products. I did some research and found one way to clean them is with coconut oil.
    This works well.

    • @kkrolf2782
      @kkrolf2782 Před 4 lety

      You surely didn’t leave the coconut oil on the acrylic, did you? I would think that would keep the stamps from sticking to it long enough to get an image. So, what did you use to clean the coconut oil off the acrylic surfaces?

    Hi there, Maria. I've been on the fence about unmounting stamps and converting to cling for several years now. Am now revisiting the idea and, in the process of searching instructional videos, I came across your wonderful tutorial. Given that you posted this vid back in 2011, I'm wondering how well your converted stamps have held up to use? Do the ink images and vinyl stay put even after repeatedly being put on & pulled off the acrylic blocks?

    I tried stamping on the vinyl and the image did not stay especially if you have to clean the stamp. As for using parchment paper instead of tissue paper you can certainly give it a try. After using this method for a while I too found, like Gavi S that the vinyl does not stick well, so I applied some glue using the two way glue pen and that solved the problem. How do I store them? In a SU stamp case. Thank you everyone for your feedback.

    Thanks for sharing in detail your method. What I don't get is the sense of the tissue paper. Is it only to end up with a white background? Because stamping directly your image on the vinyl should do the job as well, doesn't it? Or would the stazon rub off with time?

      She said it was TOMBOW for “the 1st go”; then, when the vinyl and picture started coming off after using them for a time, she reapplied them using “two way”. I’d have to guess that she meant “ZIG Two Way” glue, although we can’t be sure, as that moniker might also apply to some Aleene’s products, which also say they can be used for immediate permanent adherence, or allowed to dry first and then become temporary. Hope that helps.

      Certainly that has been a conundrum for a lot of people who have unmounted wooden stamps. Here are a few suggestions on what to do with all that wood - after cleaning (and perhaps painting) they could be great toys for children, donate to schools, use as art blocks to paint backgrounds (they come in such wonderful different sizes). Pinterest has a great selection of ideas. I'm sure there are more uses - we just have to think outside the blocks. LOL

    What do i do if unmounted stamps do not have the gray foam backing??

    • @mariavanderform
      @mariavanderform  Před 4 lety

      Gray foam backing can be put on unmounted stamps so that they can be used . Mounting sheets can be obtained from your local craft store or Amazon whichever you prefer. These sheets have an adhesive side ogray n which you place your stamp, then cut out around it. The gray foam is in the middle. At the other end is a black or gray surface that allows the stamp to cling to stamping blocks. I use Crafter's Companion EZ Mount because sometimes despite your best efforts the gray foam becomes damaged (or is just old) and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.
