Tony Barber Hi Tony. Having your son taken from you by means of death is a terrible loss. Did you know that the song Johnny Mathis sings, "Hallelujah", actually means "Praise be to Jah"? Jah is the shortened name for Jehovah, which means "He who causes to become". Yes, it is the actual name of the Creator of all in this entire Universe. Jehovah did not originally create the first man and woman to die. The initial intent was that they become fruitful and fill the entire earth, starting in a park like garden. Jah created man with the ability to choose what he would do, just as He did the Angelic beings whose home is in heaven. Jehovah created man to be the head of his wife and children, with the wife being in subjection to her husband and the children to have respect for their parents. It is a wonderful way for humans to interact, the husband being filled with love for his family and a deep passion for his wife, wanting to please her and work for their union to be always growing in ways of respect and joy for one another, the wife always working to support her husband in his decisions for his family, being joyous with him when his decisions would meet with his approval and being as sad as he when his plans might not turn out as he had thought they would. All these are explained to people in our letter we have that God had 60 different people write during different generations, called the Bible. This was done by means of Jehovah's Holy Spirit or "activating force" - what He had used to create with. This activating force Jehovah placed into the minds and hearts of these certain people so they felt compelled to write as they did, being directed by Jah in their expressions. We can know this to be true as the entire Bible "goes together" even tho many of these people did not live in the same time period. There is one author of the Bible and that is Jehovah God. He used people to write what He wanted mankind to know and fully understand so they could actually live in peace forever. This theme is very sweet and with a very emotional touch, that Mathis always knows to give in a very special way. It is the first time I heard this song, it is beautiful.
I attended my first Mathis Concert at Cane Park Theater in Cleveland in Summer of 1959, then stood almost next to him that year as he hit the switch to turn the Christmas lights on in Cleveland's Public Square. I have probably attended every Cleveland concert since that time. That velvet voice only gets better! We're both older Johnny but you sure handle it well! The music, and the choices for each album just keep getting better! I just received my albums and the disc from the PBS concert and now I have to go out to buy this one! Just warms my heart!

To GC, who cares about awards, any intelligent person knows Johnny Mathis is deserving of a Kennedy center award. It is all for show and the insecure person might be bothered by not getting awards but l don't think Johnny Mathis is. His gift to the world to see him still performing at 83 and doing it well is more valuable than a colored ribbon around his neck and fake people in the room.clapping for him. How many of the people who have received this award can share the gift they have at 83. Think about it. Johnny Mathis is a legend and my musical hero.
Have had the good fortune of hearing Johnny Mathis in concert on three occasions : 1978, 1981, and 2012. His voice was still as strong as ever over those years. On the strength of his vocals and for such a longevity of career, he deserves every music lifetime achievement award possible. Hopefully all those associations have already done so. Please come back to Ontario soon.
I love him so much I have every album that he has made from 1975 on and I backtracked about 20 albums before that this man is amazing I wish I could meet him I've seen him in person a few times but I never got the chance to get close enough to him I love his art

To GC, who cares about awards, any intelligent person knows Johnny Mathis is deserving of a Kennedy center award. It is all for show and the insecure person might be bothered by not getting awards but l don't think Johnny Mathis is. His gift to the world to see him still performing at 83 and doing it well is more valuable than a colored ribbon around his neck and fake people in the room.clapping for him. How many of the people who have received this award can share the gift they have at 83. Think about it. Johnny Mathis is a legend and my musical hero.

Have had the good fortune of hearing Johnny Mathis in concert on three occasions : 1978, 1981, and 2012. His voice was still as strong as ever over those years. On the strength of his vocals and for such a longevity of career, he deserves every music lifetime achievement award possible. Hopefully all those associations have already done so. Please come back to Ontario soon.

It's happened I just recognized what a great voice he has.
I love him so much I have every album that he has made from 1975 on and I backtracked about 20 albums before that this man is amazing I wish I could meet him I've seen him in person a few times but I never got the chance to get close enough to him I love his art
