That's how the Flect trade got started. The raiders were also bringing back Chaos tainted panes of glass to sell as a drug. Flect was what clued the Inquisition in and Ravenor into the general mix in the first place.

    The little girl story is actually from the movie Labyrinth, staring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. The lore writers occasionally have a laugh and sneak little digs and Easter eggs for people with a sense of humor or pop culture knowledge. Labyrinth is a literary evolution of the Wizard of Oz.

      And also in, I wanna say, Daemon World by Ben Counter? I could be wrong though. It's a subplot of whatever novel it is anyway, I think it involves a Dark Angel ending up adrift in space at the time of the Horus Heresy after some shit goes well and truly south, so he goes into hibernation using his Sus-An Membrane and just floats off hoping for the best. At the time of the story (the 41st Millennium, or thereabouts), he's found and awoken by an old comrade who's turned to Chaos, hence why he's still alive after so long. He lies to the ancient Dark Angel about all the important stuff until the dude realises he's being fed a load of bunkum, clobbers the Fallen and noms his noggin to find out the truth.
      I could be wrong about the details, but the basic concept is definitely that. I also remember it specifically saying that the traitor Marine didn't really feel anything as his brain was eaten, since there are no sensory nerves in the grey matter. Funny what stays with you eh?

    Has there ever been any examples of people who have turned away from chaos? I know about those nurglite space marines who got cut off from the warp and then killed themselves, but thats not what I am talking about. I mean, has there ever been a time that someone was able to turn away from the ruinous powers and come back from it? Is there any kind of redemption? Or is it that once chaos has you, it has you for good. I would love to see a video about characters who were able to break free of chaos and come back to the light, if such a thing exists.

    • @spookyghostwriter3110
      @spookyghostwriter3110 Před 2 lety +3

      A few examples come to mind (spoilers!)
      The Anchorite, a dreadnought in the modern era, was once a Word Bearer who had been sent to Calth. Midway through the war he had a change of heart and somehow managed to avoid execution by the Ultramarines.
      Technically you have the Fallen, who may or may not have served Chaos once upon a time, now (possibly) fighting for the Imperium, not that the Dark Angels will forgive them.
      Technically Blackshields could count? But given they don’t have history or battle honours to speak so…
      There was a bit of lore where there was this area cut off from the warp and when the storm abided the loyalists had turned traitor and the traitors had turned into loyalists.
      Lastly, the 114th Iron Warriors Grand Battalion, which due to being screwed over twice (losing five thousand out of six thousand marines in the process), rage quit Chaos and joined the loyalists again, chewing out the Alpha Legion that had used them as cannon fodder.

    I hate to be "actually" guy, but... According to most recent books (both from Horus Heresy era and from 40k era) (Major spoilers ahead):
    - Enuncia was actively used by Big Е during construction of Babylon tower (yes THAT Babylon tower). And Oleanus was the one who destroyed that tower with Enuncia and stopped Big E for a while from being extra Big D.
    - all the bad guys from Dan Abnett's books who were creating dictionary for enuncia were employed to that task (not knowingly by them) by Constatin Valdor himself. Also original Cognitae was founded by Big E himself.

    If you read the books you should be familiar with Enuncia. It's mentioned in 5 or 6 of the books that I have. I think saturnine, Prospero burns (although maybe not by name), and at the two Bequin books, it's mentioned in one or two more of the siege of terra books too. The one in saturnine I am pretty sure is Pious' rembering destroying a city with Big E and that's when he stabs him as well. Oh and spoiler if you don't know Alanius Pious was was original Warmaster. I know there was one 'living' world in the Eye of Terror that tried to go out and find its long-lost master. It followed a path through the unnatural stars and starsystems in the Eye, until it actually left the Eye.
    Problem was, the only reason it was 'living' was that it was richly infused with warp energy, and sustained by the super-dense currents of that energy within the Eye; the moment it left, it started dying. And it couldn't turn around and get back.
    I think the final part of that story was a sensor station near the Eye that was there to watch out for things like fleets, and they noted this rogue world tumbling out of the Eye. They would have written it off as just a chunk of garbage except that it had a huge, human-ish face on one side of it. So... it earned itself a small notation in the logs, and maybe a message to the fleet HQ at Cadia (still there at the time) that maybe they should at least take a look at it, or blow it up so it didn't obstruct the space lanes.
