Great Reaction! JMHO, but Tarja doesn't give you the goosebumps that Floors version does. Just a heads up concerning TGSoE. The song is about life as we scientifically know it. Starting out with the those first fireworks that represent the Big Bang forming the ever expanding and changing Universe in which we dwell. Followed by the formation of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Then the formation of our own Solar System. Then our own planet Earth, with it being in the Goldilocks zone. Being neither to hot or to cold. Thus allowing life to evolve over billions of years. Then finally the evolution of man, to become the dominate species. Then the likely demise of our own species. As nothing last forever.
The last spoken word part, after the last of the music has been played. Speaks of historical long long odds against you ever having been born. Before the advent of modern medicine. Only 3 in 5 children born made it to age five. With only 1 of the remaining 3 would reaching adulthood and have children of their own. Again with only 1 in 5 reaching the age of having children of their own. Thus you being here in the DNA form that you are in. Thus each one of us Is a such a extreme rare being made of stardust!
I think that Tarja's voice has a way of just melting into the instruments and engulfing everything without overshadowing it? Her voice is like, the grandest of the grand. Almost like she can't even be a human entity. It's Godly.
Then Floor's voice has a way of making the same song have sort of an audio illusion of having deeper fluctuations and climaxes, more struggle back and forth tug and pull through the song. She is a vocal WARRIOR.
Have to disagree. For me this is the correct version and that Floor version sounds like a "forced show off" and her voice just doesn't do it for me. Never understood this floormania and probably never will, but we all have different tastes. Haven't really listened Nightwish since Tarja left, but at least I can still listen to these old recordings sometimes..
I love both for their variety. I'd love a Floor studio version of this with the floorgasm, and whacken vocal charm, minusing the crowd.
Only one I can't stand is Annette, I mean, man she sucked so bad live, unless it was her own songs.

I don't understand the full Floor obsession. She has technique and she is versatile but I guess I just don't care for the actual sound of her voice. It doesn't have qualities that pull me in regardless of what it can do.
For me, Floor just has a softer tone in her range; both in studio and live...
Tarja some times feels somewhat monotone and emotionless in her live renditions.
Tarja is The Siren from Tuomas mythology.
This was Tarja's last concert with Nightwish and if you watched the entirety of the End of an Era, you can feel how emotionally charged it was.
How so? She didn't know this is going to be her last song with the band.

To me Night-wish Band made a mistake by voting Tarja out of the band a big mistake, Tarja was hurt but she said she needed to be.home with her family cause she had two kids to raise.
Tarja had a special voice that Floor didn’t have for Night wish but no one can replace Tarja’s beautiful voice.
The Tarja era really was something else. A magical, mystical dream in a blanket of joy and wonder.
Floor have an incredible voice range but still Tarja is the masterpiece of their album when Tarja era.

I was listening to nightwish for years when Tarja was in it, then when Anette came to band i stoped, and don't get me wrong here, two of them (Tarja and Floor) are queens of nightwish, but to be honest, Floor is better, no matter how much i love tarja voice, i still listen to her music, but Floor is killing it, she sang this song perfectly without back vocals, and on this video Tarja had mistakes, and had a lot of back vocals to support her. For me two of them are great, but as someone said, Tarja dont give me goosebumps.

Indeed the background chorus is much, much louder in Tarja's song than Floor's. And there is more of it.
Tarja's era of Nightwish was like a beautiful dream inside a bubble or me. Once she left, the bubble burst. For me, nobody can ever replace or surpass her as vocalist for Nightwish.
I will forever miss Tarja. Nightwish is never the same without her.
They would never have continued if they didn't let Tarja go.
She has great solo work. Tuomas's work lives on, with a vocalist that expresses and loves the music so much more deeply than Tarja ever did.

I just wish they could have had a good relationship between them to continue with NW from her era a while longer, which is my favorite phase. I appreciate Anette era but it was not really NW for me, even though she did great on the albums and everything was polished to perfection. The new stuff with floor is meh but she did breathe new life to some already amazing classic and perfectly executed tarja era songs so I give her that. If Tarja and NW would reconcile for 1 show it would be so awesome for the OG NW fans that loved them waaaay back when.
When i first heard Floor do this song, i was impressed with her rock and roll vocals, BUT, after hearing TARJA do this song, i am BLOWN AWAY WITH THE SOUND OF HER ENCHANTED AND MYSTICAL VOICE!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! She takes you away to another magical realm with castles and fairy tales!!!! Tarja's and Floor's versions are different arrangements. In End of an Era Tarja sings the loud choir version, here she sings the same quiet choir versions as Floor: 2004 Montreal czcams.com/video/ox4pOeBYFfI/video.html and here 2004 Romania czcams.com/video/HNfmCF457Fs/video.html In the quiet choir version the vocalist's voice is heard much better than in the loud one.
And in End of an Era she unfortunately had the second half of GLS her voice spent (she was in flu).

🤣🤣🤣🤣 You dunse! Her voice literally melded into the chorus in the back, not to mention they layered her voice in certain parts where she needed the help. For Floor's live performance all you heard was Floor. The chorus and the instrunents didn't drown her out at all.

HalfLIfeSistah I really like your reactions, and I suggest you to see a video of Tarja with her own band performing Stargazers for exemple (there's an amazing performance in Buenos Aires)... Even if it is a fan video it shows how Tarja interacts much more with her crowd in smaller audiences... I've seen both Floor and Tarja Live in concert, and I really like them both and their work with Nightwish, and Floor added her own thing to the older nightwish songs, which was wise from her, and she shines a lot in GLS, no doubt! With songs that are harder or in higher keys, nightwish decided to lower down the keys while performing them with Floor, so she seems to be more comfortable with those songs now (for exemple "sleeping sun" or "she is my sin" or "Stargazers" are performed in lower keys now)... However, if you want to feel the vibe that you get with Oceanborn album, you get it much more if you go to a Tarja concert and listen to Stargazers. It all depends on what period of Nightwish sound you prefer, and I think its Amazing to have a band which already produced so much variety of sound in those different Eras. I really love Nightwish's first four albuns in particular (those are the ones I listen the most), but I also have the more recent ones (I have almost all their studio material actually :D )... So here I leave a link for a Tarja concert, and even if its not the best quality of recording, I think you will get that vibe of Oceanborn Era mixed with Tarja's chemistry with the crowd... Also keep in mind that at this point Tarja was with them for 9 years, was her last show even (since she got the letter right after this show).
And that the performance at Wacken with Floor, that at that time she was singing with the band for just over 6 months cause she filled in for Annet from october 2012 during the Imaginarium tour (what was the show at Wacken part of) and that she wasn't even a member of the band yet (she was asked at the end of the tour). And before she filled in for Annet, she had just 48 hours to learn their songs and they had to reherse during the tour to get used to each other.

Yes, Tarja Turunen is definitely operatic, since she is classically trained. I love this performance and many others with Nightwish. Anette was interesting and Floor seems to have great chemistry with the band, but Tarja was freaking magic to me. The mix between her voice and the music, and her duets with Marko are great. I love, love her with Nightwish. Oh, those were the days...

I really love Taria's version, this is the right one, it's simply amazing.
So... If you think that Floor sing higher, maybe, because Floor may sing that what she want, Tarja had must sing the way that Tuomas wanted, she no had a freedom in Nightwish... You may listen some her solo performances, some classical/operatic from her symphonic concerts, or rock/metal like her version of "Supremacy" by Muse, live from Woodstock 2016, it's amazing performance.
Just compare Floors Phantom of the Opera with Tarjas if we're talking high notes 👀 Tarja made that song her bitch even when she was sick w flu!

Please also listen Tarja's classical/operatic performances and then you will see what she can, and in non-operatic singing how low voice she has. She told this that in Nightwish she had no freedom.

I don't believe her one bit. If Tuomas was relentless in sticking with this operatic style then why did he have a singer like Anette or even Floor? If anything Tuomas locked himself in when he decided to change the original direction of the band to fit Tarja's voice. Tarja is opera period. Years of training in one specific style is hard to break.

I'll be the weird one and say it. I grow up with Nightwish with Tarja, this is the NW i knew first and fell for since '97 (dat awkward time whan Toumas was the male singer) , every time I watch End of an Era and From Wishes to Eternity
, I feel those goosebumps you have with Floor, but always with Tarja. Annette was ok, I really liked Bye Bye beautiful and Amaranth but just that. Floor is magnificent, I like her, but for me, will be always Tarja. Anyway, regardless of the singer, the master of all of this, is Toumas, what a great composer. Singers and musicians can come and go, but he will always take NW to the top.

All the singers are great in their own right and respective styles but I'm with you, Tarja brings that magic and mysterious quality for me more than any other rendition. Anette did a great job and had the perfect fit for Imaginareum if not for early nw material, and now Floor is doing her contemporary rocker thing that the masses love and manages to make early AND Anette era NW songs work with her style, even tho Tarja and Anette had them already perfected in their style. That's Floors greatest strength is that she can make it work to appeal to the average listener whereas the other ladies were more niche singers whose styles and voice types are more of an acquired taste for many people. I think Floor is just easier for the average listener because she's a hybrid pop/rock style thus appeals to casual listeners that either like contemporary or like rock but don't appreciate Tarja classical/operatic approach or Anettes bright spritely sound.

@@ScheisseTyranna I'm sorry but Anette does not have I niche voice. She has a generic swedish pop voice, and she shouldn't be singing outside her house. I get some people prefer Tarja over Floor and vice versa, but Anette doesn't even belong in that conversation. Every Nightwish song she sang she made sound so generic that it's not even funny in a tragic way.

As a Nightwish fan since they released Century Child, I was completely lost for words when I listened to this song for the first time (and I still am). If I am not mistaken, this was the first song they released with Floor singing. I am also a long-time Floor's fanboy, since when she was leading After Forever. And I was super excited when I first knew she was touring with Nightwish after Anette's departure from the band. I think in that video they wanted to highlight Floor as the new singer. In the original version, I feel Tarja is part of the song just like the rest of the band, and I think this is awesome. Of course, our experience with this song is completely different, because you heard Floor's version before. When I heard Floor's for the first time, it gave me goosebumps, I was blown away, and my only reaction was: "wow, what did they do to this song? (in the most positive way as possible)". But when I go back to Tarja's (specially in this concert), it just breaks my heart, mostly because it was her last concert with Nightwish and this is still my favorite song from them up to this day.
Summing up: Floor's version blows me every time I listen to it;. Tarja's version just make me feel like a heartbroken child who can't stop crying. Love them both and I am so grateful from both of my favorite symhonic metal singers have perfomed this.

hey guys, could you react to some of the works of André Matos? He was a brazilian musician, he was a singer, composer, maestro and pianist. He unfortunately passed away 10 days ago and it was a shock for all of his fans world-wide and even people that just knew his bands by name... He played on bands such as Viper(1985-1991), the most famous one Angra(1991-2000), Shaman(2000-2006), then his solo career, besides another projects like Virgo, Symfonia and a project with the guys from an american prog metal band called Sieges Even. He was just 47 years old... He really loved his country and was proud to show the world what we're capable of musically, even with all the music degradation across the globe, he was persistent, yet with his death the media didn't care at all, at max a channel made a homage of 3 minutes, but nothing more than that... The politicians even less, it's pretty sad and if you could react to one or some of his work would be awesome and it would mean the world for his fans such as myself. My request is this Make Believe from Angra live or Shaman - Fairy Tale live, I'd send you the album version but I'd like you to see André Matos and how his perfomance was. People might have another requests, I would put all the requests from him here aswell but I know you do a video per reaction, so these are good ones in my opinion

This is the original (close to album) version and so awesome with feeling and amazing harmony (also in the end with backing). I just wonder that after this concert all changed (audience thinks that all is right in 6:07 for instance). The whole concert peaks when the glitter comes down...that is the higest moment they did. Sadly because the continuous dress change in this concert (maybe six or seven times) Tarja had to "run" away so quickly from the stage so often.

Tarja's performance is great but Floor can do a bit more with her voice and that varies from operatic to harsh metal and even grunch.

Floor's voice doesn't actually go operatic. She is a beginner in classical, but doesn't create classical voice. She only has one year of education in the classical singing. And she says it herself too.
But that doesn't stop ignorant Floor fanbois declaring her awesome classical singer. Saw a comment where someone said she was better in classical style than Tarja, and it had lot's of thumb ups. (sigh).

Floor's version does not give up toward the end like Tarja did. Floor keeps belting and hits the high belt that Tarja leaves off. And, Half Life Sista, listen to Floor sing Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort on "Beste Zangers".

Yea I love Tarja and Floor, but here's the thing... before floor came around to nightwish, this performance gave everyone chills because it just ends on such a magical level... but whats a bit unfair (yet amazing) is that floor took what this song already was and DID bring it to the next level, because as Floor has mentioned, she wants to make the songs her own too (and I understand that because as a professional vocalist, I'm sure she's not trying to mimic the tonality and inflections of every note as tarja's, so I get that)... But as we all know, the studio version was constructed in the very same manner as it was performed here at the End of an Era Concert, so no one would ever expect Tarja to belt out "TIME TO NEVER HOLD OUR LOVVVEEE" or give you that last Floorgasm bit at the end... and yet the weird part about it is that this performance now feels like its "missing" Something because Floor did in fact do an amazing job in doing her own interpretation. I'm sure people have also accustomed themselves to how Floor starts off the chorus just a tad bit sooner than Tarja when singing "...mmmmyyyyyyy Fallllll" ... so yea, I just want to say that I LOVE both versions, but also point out how a bit unfair it is for tarja.... and who knowwss if after some time Tarja would have made her own little spins on this song (considering it was still a fresh track since it was the last album she recorded with them), butttt that's speculations! Great reaction nonetheless! Love it!
As a professional singer, what other differences you notice in Floor's and Tarja's versions arrangements?
Tarja didn't need to oversing to make that song a classic 😆 Floor brought a cool element to it but people get waaaay too caught up in that end flourish, Tarja was definitely singing everything just the way Tuomas wanted it and could have blown floors end note out of the water if she had the chance, just like she blew floors choked, sour phantom rendition out of the water with that beautiful sustained high note she did in End of an Era.
Tarja is a classically trained Full Lyric Soprano singing this song bel canto...she does not belt.

This version is totally different than Floor's. The key is changed to adapt to Floor's vocals and even Floor changed the style. Tarja sang it as it was meant to sound originally. Floor is a great singer she can't make justice to the best nightwish albums IMO (angels fall first, oceanborn and wishmaster).

I've since learned they had these two versions of background chorus (loud and silent & partly missing) already in Tarja's era. The loud one is used both in the audio album and End of an Era. But for example Romania and Montreal gigs use the same silent as Floor had.

This song was 100% Tarja's song and Floor just can not ever achieve those levels. People must and people do get it. NOTHING can beat a beautiful female soprano with metal music. The first Nightwish song I heard, if only a snippet from before hearing it all, was Over the Hills and Far Away but, Ghost Love Score, live at Wacken 2013 was THE SONG that got me hooked and, deservedly so...after my jaw hit the floor partly due to hearing my first Floorgasm, lol.

I listen to Nighwish for the start and for me as good as Floor is, this is the original version with Tarja and this is the style that I fall in love with. I underestand that you were shock the first time you listen to this song with Floor but this is the real thing.

For more than 10 years I listened to Ghost love score with Tarja. GLS is my favorite song. When I listened to Floor's version I've erased all! I listen to only Floor's version. The way Floor sing, perform, live the song is Absolutely amazing. Ghost love score is written for Floor!
