  • This video focuses on why scientific research methods in psychology are better than our own personal experiences when trying to make sense of human thought and behavior. For example, personal experiences offer no control group, and thus no basis for making key comparisons between groups. Furthermore, personal experiences are hopelessly confounded (or confused), which essentially means they contain lots of drama, so it's tough to know which factors in your life influence various outcomes in your life.
