  • This Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS 454 is an older build that I rebuilt about 20 years ago. It is the 1985 3 in 1 issue that was molded in blue and built back then. It is now almost 40 years old but I don't remember exactly when I built it, but it was originally spray painted. So, I believe it was in grade school before I got an airbrush.

    I built the AMT version of this model many years ago, and I find now you've been taking the models outside the colors really pop.

    Always love when you do all the history. Fond memories of building the " Heavy Chevy" version of this kit. You did an Excellent job on yours. I like the Baldwin Motion one as well. Thanks for sharing

    Pretty muscle car models and a raft of info on that episode's subject: this is why you are my favorite modeling podcast. The Malibu/Chevelle thing has always tripped me up and I even owned a '67 Malibu for a few years!

    Great builds 👍 I love this kit. The Heavy Chevy is one of my grail kits. I have a old decal sheet from one of the Heavy chevy kits. Decals are no good anymore.

      Thanks. You know. I have not owned an AMT 70 Chevelle but I have restored an original AMT 71 Chevelle and a few of the AMT 72 Chevelle reissues. I have been told the AMT 70 is just like the 72. If that is true then Yes. The Monogram version is the one I would pick.

    This is my favorite 1:1 car of all time, but I haven't seen a kit that captures it. I wish Revell or Moebius would do a completely new tool.

      Have you built the Revell 68 or 69? Those are real nice! I agree on a better 70. I like this Monogram kit but it could be better.

    I had a 72 wagon with a three speed on the wheel and SS stuff on it made everyone go nuts lol. The guys at Yearone didn't believe me the I had a three speed on the column when I drove it to there booth at Raceway Park NJ they were shocked

      Very cool. I had a SS hood (non cowl induction) on my Chevelle before I redid it with a functional cowl. It was white with black stripes. I sold that hood to someone you may know here on You Tube before we both had channels. He had a nice 72 Chevelle wagon that was white. It looked great on his car. That was Luka Cee!
      Also. I own a 71 Fury Wagon with a big block. I want to put a T-56 6speed in it!

    What do you think about the AMT release, that’s currently out? I had bought one at Walmart, then returned it for the 70 1/2 Camaro. I’m normally known for turning street cars into race cars. That was my plan, originally. But there’s some great street muscle cars coming out lately. I’m getting a new appreciation for them, and I’m considering building a street car. You guys make them look like they’d be a lot of fun building

    • @blkft
      @blkft Před 10 měsíci +1

      I have the AMT 70 Chevelle, and both the Revell Heavy Chevy and Baldwin Motion Chevelle. Both Revell kits are pretty much the same except decals. The AMT, which I've built, is a little more simplified in its suspension. The AMT had less flash than the Revell kits (my collection) but more sink marks. You also have to mod the chassis a little for it to sit right in the body (vid on CZcams). Like the Revell, there some options in how you want to build it.
      I do like the AMT 454 motor, pretty detailed. Both manufacturers build well in the end.

      @stevenbongiorno9277 Před 10 měsíci +2

      @@blkft I’ve noticed that Revell has stepped up their game with these new releases. But with the AMT kits, they’re the ones that could make great race cars

    • @stevenbongiorno9277
      @stevenbongiorno9277 Před 10 měsíci

      The Revell kits, are more of the type of kits, that I’d want to make original. I’ll have to step up on my finishes to make them more worthy. 😆

      @@stevenbongiorno9277 Definetly, especially the Revell 68 Chevelle SS396. I like that it has a separate frame from the under body. I've so far preassembled mine and everything fits quite well.

    Would it be accurate to use a 1969 nova bench front seat .
    What do you think of the revell 69 nova 350/283 engine

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 10 měsíci

      You can start with that bench. I think it is real close. The motor looked nice but I haven’t actually built that one. I have one but have only built the big block Novas.

    • @robertnussberger6449
      @robertnussberger6449 Před 10 měsíci

      @TheMuscleCarModeler the nova 350/283 is a nice engine
      But a race version as I can tell
      That motion car looks incredible
      It amazing what using different wheels and building out of the box will do for a kit
      I'm looking to do my motion chevelle in white
      I'm hoping revell will reissue this kit again but with more options like steel wheels. different hood. engine options and wheel options
      I am not sure if revell even has the molds anymore
      They may have been altered to make the snap kit

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 10 měsíci

      @robertnussberger6449 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @TheMuscleCarModeler I pretty sure too but they may have been altered to do the snp kit
      The reason I say that is because I never saw the kit again after the snap came out
      But who knows maybe maybe they'll surprise us on day

  • @Sidewinder1999
    @Sidewinder1999 Před 9 měsíci

    Great builds. Have you built the AMT version? Or the more recent Revell snaptite version? The Revell snapper has the most accurate body proportions of all of them.

      AMT, I have built the 69, 71 and 72. Have not done any other 70 Chevelles besides the tooling in the Baldwin Motion version. I believe I show that one in this video.
