Matt Le Tissier may not have been a great goalscorer like Alan Shearer or Harry Kane, but he was a scorer of great goals. In our latest REPLAY with Jeff Stelling, Matt talks through some of those that have gone down in Premier League folklore and why he was able to often produce brilliant moments.
Which was the best goal from his canon?
Which goals were a turning point in his football career?
What’s his favourite of his strikes?
Le Tiss also chats about chipping Peter Schmeichel, why he was never afraid to look stupid when playing football and how he compared to another dead ball specialist: David Beckham. That leads to him recalling the day he took part in a free-kick competition in England training with Becks and then manager Glenn Hoddle. But who came out on top?
Football's Greatest is a Folding Pocket Production with BBC Studios.

Love Le Tiss. Le God. I’m a Liverpool fan but always loved watching him play. So laid back looking and nonchalant then BANG - something genius happens.

just a shame that the budget couldn't stretch to pay for the footage of those goals to emphasise the point

Le Tissier top 10 goals would match up to just about anyone, man was blessed with that silky touch🙌

Just couldn't go to the next top level, don't know whether it was fear or just liked being the main man at a small club where he could play and train as he wanted. To be classed as a great player hunger, motivation and winning stuff count. He had none of these

The brace against Newcastle was just insane, and the flick up free kick against Wimbledon too… the balls to just attempt those goals

Any club would pick Beckham before le tiss! Matt could only perform if whole team was there to indulge him and it's sad that he speaks like he was a success when never won nothing!!

Second only to Zlatan Ibrahimovic when it comes to scoring great outrageous goals! Le Tissier was a phenomenon!

@@jacksmith4460 No, he's not. Thats's a very english perspective, to say the least. Zlatan has a pletoria of great goals; dribbling, overhead kicks, shots, taekwando's, freekicks etc. However how good LeTessier was, he's behind Zlatan when it comes to outrageous goals and one of the reasons is that Zlatan had a whole different skill set when it came to athletics. He did some remarkable goals and shots with his left foot, as well. i DO rate LeTissier, he was a favorite of mine during the 90's, but I'm sorry. Zlatan is another level ...

A shame he couldn't play at the top level and most of his gosls didn't matter as he never played in real big games and couldn't perform for England. He had to stay at Southampton so he could be main man and play and train as he wanted, i bet most players that played with him were frustrated

It's ridiculous that he sees himself ahead of Beckham😂 Beckham could play in massive games Le tissier never played in big game's and fir England was always useless coz at Southampton it waz all set up for him
